Bangkok City

I think this place has passed its prime. On a Saturday evening at 6 pm, there was only one person seated in the restaurant. She was in town from Cali, and a big Thai food fan.
The food was really bland and basic. The steamed rice they severed had been held much too long as it was basically a mush ball on my plate.

At $12 to $15 for an entree, it seems over priced for the quality of the food. All that being said, service was four stars.

We won't be back.

Probably the worst Thai we ever have had and service to match.  I ordered tom kha gai, "native Thai" hot (4 stars), my wife ordered green curry beef, 2 stars and our daughter chicken fried rice, no stars.  The waiter informed my wife that the green curry came 3 stars and did not offer to have it adjusted.  We should have left then.  My tom kha had no coconut flavor at all.  I suspected that it was made with condensed cow's milk rather than coconut.  We should have left then. The green curry was too hot for my wife and she asked for some coconut milk to help wash the capsaicinoids from her mouth.  I said, politely and a bit sarcastically, to the waiter "like is in the tom kha".  He said that wasn't possible but offered condensed milk (ahh hah!) instead. We should have left then.  My tom kha (4 stars) was much milder than the green curry (3 stars). I requested some Thai spicey fish oil, again sarcastically but politely, "to give the tom kha some flavor".  He pointed to the ramekin on the table next to the fried rice and said "that's what that is it's for the fried rice."  No offer to bring some for me.  We should have left.  We finished what we could of our meal and paid.  I wanted to offer polite, helpful criticism, but the waiter and the chef had disappeared.  We left then, far too late in our experience.  We had a few opportunities justifiably to quit the restaurant but did not because  we were tired and hungry from a long, all day drive and it was very late.

Lousy food, lousy service.  I wish yelp would allow 0 stars.  This establishment doesn't deserve 1 star.  I hope the management corrects this.

Other reviews convinced me to try Bangkok City.  I sat on the outdoor porch enjoying the sunset reading the paper and had an incredible meal.  Highly recommend the Kang Chicken Entree.  The meal begins with a simple dinner salad with a special home made sweet dressing designed to open your taste buds for the meal.

For the Kang they make their paste in house and I have to say, it was worth trying something new-PHENOMENAL!
