I screamed when I found out this opened in Miami, where I live. I had been to the Evansville location a few times with my boyfriend whose family lives in E-ville. The pretzel sticks are mandatory. Mandatory, I say. My favorite dip is the cinnamon butter. The menu is more diverse than a college campus recruitment catalogue. There is literally something for every person and palate. The hot chicken wings were so good I may have licked the plate a couple of times, much to the chagrin of my boyfriend. Oh - the drinks. The bar is as good as any bar can get. And they have TVs so the men can watch their stupid sports game while the ladies eat one of their divine salads. I am beyond excited to visit the new Miami location.
Review Source:My husband and I are new to evansville and tried bar louie a few months ago and really enjoyed it. Â Service, drinks, apps, main course and dessert were all good and we were glad to have found a place we could go to being new in town. Â We went again just recently and unfortunately our thoughts are completely different now. Â We had a pretty bad experience all around. Â It started with the hostess that stared at us first and then barely greeted us and spoke to us like she was on another planet. Â She led us to the table and we realized she only gave us one menu. Â When our waitress came over we asked for another menu and she seemed irritated that we would want to both look at separate menus at the same time. We ordered drinks, she didn't know what some of them were and needed to ask the bartender. Â Once we ordered, and after about a 10-15 min wait, she brought us the wrong drinks! Our nachos came - We had no napkins, no plates, no utensils. Â Kind of hard to eat nachos w/ o napkins! Entrees were ok. Â Dessert ok, but service was horrible. Â We unfortunately won't be coming back for awhile, it was like something was going on behind the scenes, it was so off. Â We no longer call it bar louie, we now call it bar "lower" or bar "loser" Â Sorry guys.
Review Source:I recently tried Bar Louie for the first time and was pleased. Â We were on the east side of town and thought we'd give this a try for lunch. Â The place seemed busy for a weekday lunch, but we didn't have to wait for a table. Â The place looks modern, with nice decor and plenty of TVs to watch sports. Â The patrons were young trendy, with several business professionals. Â There was nice selection of drinks, but since I was going back to work I just had water.
I ordered a burger that had bacon, cheese, and a fried egg. Â It was a little messy (to be expected) but tasted great. Â The bun was toasted to perfection and the patty was cooked medium well just as I had requested. Â The burger was served with fries. Â The fries were decent, but they needed some salt and the portion seemed a bit small. Â No big deal though. Â At $10.50's a pricey burger, but it was darn good.
I'll be back!
I've been to this Bar Louie a few times while on business trips, as I stay in one of the hotels located across the access road from it. This location is no different than most of the other Bar Louie establishments I've been to in other parts of the country. Good food, great drink specials, lots of TVs... basically everything you'd expect from a chain bar/restaurant. The booths are nice in this one... very comfortable and accomodating for at least 4 people.
The downside of this particular location is the waitstaff and the noise level. Most other Bar Louies I've been to aren't this loud. It was hard to hear each other at our small table. Also, two of the times I've been here, our waitress has gone missing as we sit at our table, tapping our fingers, waiting to get another round.
I'll still come here as a last-minute dinner decision while in Evansville on business, but I prefer other Bar Louie locations I've been to in the past over this one.
Bar louie is a clean fun atmosphere. I particularly like the luigi which consists of shaved steak sandwich and it a monster. Â Instead of fries you can get tator tots. Â YUMMM! Â On tuesdays I can go there for dollar burger night, only 50 cents to get whatever you want added to it. The the next night on wednesdays I can get a bucket of 5 beers for $5! BEST DEAL EVER!
Review Source:Had a late lunch here on Saturday. Â Free donuts and bloody marys for everyone!! Â Three of us had salads and the shrimip skewers. Â The salads are HUGE! Â Very good. Â My sister and I split the Hong Kong and mom ended up with leftovers. Â Service was a little slow considering how few tables were occupied but not bad enough to spoil the experience.
Review Source:When I ate at the Newport, KY location enjoyed it very much, but I was also drunk. This place is underwhelming. Too many items on the menu which means your experience is going to be very inconsistent. I've also experienced poor service, and your typical crowd here is nothing to brag about.
Review Source:I have to follow a gluten free diet. I had found a gluten free menu for Bar Louie online so I headed over with some family members. When I got there the host and server knew nothing of a gluten free menu. Thankfully the chef did. He has a friend with Celiac's disease so he hooked me up with the Simply Fish (Salmon) with broccoli. It came with an herb butter of some sort for the salmon that was pretty tasty. Â The salmon was good, but a little overcooked (not enough to complain about though).
The people I dined with enjoyed Bar Louie but wouldn't put it on their must eat list. Except the person who ordered the Luigi sandwich. He reported the meat being full of flavor and would return just for that sandwich.
I drink a lot. When visiting my hometown of Evansville, I drink much, much more! After two Thanksgiving dinners, and visiting various family members, and both of my nursing home bound grandmothers, wifey & I needed several drinks. Upon pulling into our hotel, we noticed a Bar Louie directly next door. How convenient, and they were open on Thanksgiving evening. NICE! Turkey Day cocktails await!
Surprisingly, I have never been to a Bar Louie before, so I had no idea what to expect. We came here only because it was conveniently located, and they were open on Thanksgiving night. When the joyous couple that we are walked in, we were surprised to see that it was actually a very nice establishment. Granted, Evansville is somewhat backwards, and anything nice is generally not supported by the predominately closed minded white trash residents that make up the armpit of America, otherwise known as Southern Indiana.
Impressed that Bar Louie was nice, the patrons had teeth, and most were nicely dressed, we decided to stay and sit at the bar. The bartender, Louie (Yes, his name really was Louie) was very personable and told us that ALL drafts were $2. They had a selection of 40 drafts. Fat Tire 2 below for $2? Happy Fucking Thanksgiving! Louie informed us that Evansville had just started selling Fat Tire. Well, I was prepared to drink all the Fat Tire they had, so not-so-quick there Louie!
After wifey & I were in a state of Fat Tire euphoria, we took a looksie at the menu. The menu was kind of all over the place, but impressive. Prices were kinda' high, but we decided to get a few apps. I opted for the Ahi Tuna. Decent, but I've had much, much better. Wifey had some pretzel roll concoction, and this was actually quite tasty.
Great service, $2 Thanksgiving drafts, and decent food = 4 STARS. Oh, and how could I forget---I got to see one of my favorite baseball players: Â former NY Yankee, and current LA Dodgers coach, Don Mattingly. I hope Bar Louie makes it---most nice dining / bar establishments in Evansville eventually succumb to a miserable financial death.
Great Food and Great Atmosphere and the service is second to none! Prices are little high but worth it since it's an upscale bar. The outdoor seating is great and the waiting area has a very nice fire-pit. Lots of choices for specialty beer and mixed drinks but be aware there is a dress code...No T-Shirts... a great idea for maintaining a business casual atmosphere! If you want a great place to take your business guests and clients for lunch, this is the place for you.
