HOLY!
This pizza is amazing! I caught the truck at a wine event last weekend and couldn't resist trying the goodness that is Basic Kneads!
Star 1 = huge slices, and i mean HUGE! Fold worthy :)
Star 2 = delicious flavors throughout! I had a slice of the pesto chicken pizza and loved it! next up, Thai chili! :)
Star 3 = awesome, friendly and attentive staff!
Star 4 = it's on wheels! Food truck at it's finest!
mmmmm mmmmm GOOD!
I have to qualify this 5-star.
We went twice in three days.
The first time we went, it was outside the VA hospital.
They had the Square credit card application too, which allowed us to use a credit card. Handy.
We got the Wiseguy-olive oil, roasted onion, fennel sausage, cheese, and rosemary.
I'm from New York so I've become rather selective what is good pizza and I know what a good slice of New York style pizza is like.
Whoa. This is nothing like it. The crust is thin-no cracker but no Chicago style either. It's locally milled wheat flour, which I appreciate, and it is the first time time someone has made a whole wheat pizza I could eat all day. It has depth-the slight roughage of the whole wheat without overpowering, while maintaining the integrity of the chewy pizza crust.
The toppings. First sausage I've legitmately raved about. The roasted onion with the olive oil-MMMM. Combined with the rosemary, the olive oil/onion provides an ethereal contrast to the meatiness of the sausage.
It took a while to get my pizza you don't hear me complaining. They make it fresh and fresh is better.
I was utterly tempted to get another pie but we had other places to eat at.
The second time was probably a 2-star. It was at a 16th Street concert and there was a huge line so they probably had to rush production. It was less than desirable......
Ignoring the second time, I would definitely go another time, just not when there are too many people.
Favorite food truck in Denver. I was introduced to Great Kneads through Great Divide and boy I am glad I went when they were there. Great pizza. Â I guess the sweet thai chili is the most popular but I only enjoy it with lots of sriracha. The BBQ chicken is good too.
I thank them for being there during Great Divides 18th birthday bash. Nothing is better to help the amounts of beer we drank then pizza! Affordable and delicious even with that whole wheat crust. Â
See you guys again at Great Divide for a random happy hour.
Awful. Â We had an appointment months ago for them to show up at our school function for 400 hungry adults and kids. They didn't show up. Â We confirmed an arrival time of 11:30am many times and they said they had it written down as 4:30 so basically we were SOL. Â I am sure their pizza is good if you want to take the chance of them not showing up!
Review Source:I'm always on the lookout for a good pie, but being vegan, that's not always an easy task.  Fortunately the Basic Kneads crew is happy to accommodate! I love their Hot Hawaiian, or just loading up with veggies.  They use wholesome, fresh ingredients and make their pies with lotsa love.  It also doesn't hurt  that these pizza boys (and girls) are easy on the eyes and the wallet  ;)  My new fave!
Review Source:Delicious!!! Ate at the truck for the first time today - super friendly guys working in there (and girl) and awesome pizza. I love love love wood-fired pizza and this is as good as I have had in any restaurant. Took about 5-7 minutes and absolutely worth the small wait. Prices are incredibly reasonable (about $7.50 for a 10" pizza -depending on what you get - which is 6 slices).
FYI - the truck is outside the VA Hospital every Friday from 10-2 (8th and Clermont, right off Colorado Blvd).
I love wood-fire pizza.
I love food trucks.
I love non-traditional pizzas.
I love Thai.
I love great service.
Five things I love, and I get them all from Basic Kneads when they're at Great Divide. That equals five big stars for this tasty pizza machine on wheels. I mean, come on: wood-fire pizza oven in a food truck?! Sitting outside one of the best breweries in town?! Boom baby.
They first hooked me one evening with a free sample wedge of their Thai Chili Chicken pizza, and I've been dreaming of having it ever since. I finally got to have a whole one, and it was simply amazing. The sweet Thai chili sauce with the mozzarella cheese, green onions, and cilantro is just one of those perfect combinations that you wish you thought of yourself.
It's going to be tough to venture away from the Thai Chili Chicken, but guess I'll just have to go drink more Great Divide and eat more Basic Kneads. Poor me.
I had to update my review. I loved Basic Kneads so much I asked them to cater my wedding reception.
1) Pizza was awesome (that is an understatement). I have forsaken all others. Pizza does not enter my food hole unless it is from Basic Kneads.
2) The food, combined with the awesome venue (the Elliot Street Collective), was an edgy and unique combination.
3) The beer-3 Pony's from Great divide-was an excellent compliment. We also had 3 different types of Italian wine which also paired superbly.
4) The staff are supercalifradga-awsome! So thoughtful and fun! I would let them cater and plan any party for me.
In short, Â I love this pizza and I love the family that owns this business.
On a recent trip to the Great Divide tap room, I was very happy to find this food truck strategically parked a few steps from the patio where I was seated and happily sipping my beer.
After about 5 glasses of strong beer, I decided i needed some food in my stomach and proceeded to order a small pepperoni & jalapeno pizza, which I shared with my friend.
The pizza was very tasty with a nice cheese to sauce ratio (very important). Most importantly the crust, which had an awesome wood-fire flavor, was the main attraction - as it should be in any self-respecting pizza.
Overall, the pizza was very tasty and affordable ($7 for a 2 topping 10" pizza). I will definitely be down to buy their pizza whenever I spot them next.
An awesome wedding I went to was catered by Basic Kneads and their woodfired truck. They arrived extremely early to start heating up the ovens, and despite the fact that my hair will smell like smoke for a week, when the reception rolled around, they were ready for the onslaught of hungry, drunk 20-something's.
Basic Kneads did a great job of being prepared for all the people, and I think they made 4-5 different pizzas. Unfortunately, they did not make it so that every table was able to try every pizza, instead just putting out 2-3 pizzas per table, which basically forced repeated visits in order to get to try  more than one appealing pizza at a time. The pizza provided was all whole wheat, which was a surprising and nice change from "normal" pizza.
I love the crust on this pizza- nice mix of crusty and chewy. Flavor of pizza was really good, and consistent from pizza to pizza. I was surprised because their most popular pizza, (they said,) "the wise guy" was to me extremely lacking in seasoning. I've never thought that about pizza before but it definitely felt that way with this one. Either some salt at the end, or some salt while the onions were caramelizing.
The only other complaint was that we were only able to go to the truck once, and then one of the Basic Kneads came by and took our plates without even asking if we were done. Didn't tell us if there was more pizza, just took our plates. Eventually we found some paper ones and made it back up, but for as well as they provided pizza at a regular pace, they didn't really provide it long enough for all the tables to get all the pizza they wanted. We were the last table to be dismissed to eat so we also had to compete with all the other guests to get our first pieces while they got their 2nd, 3rd, 8th, etc. Â
Overall, for catering this is a really fun, whimsical and appealing option that is a great alternative to buffets where food gets worse and worse in chafing dishes. This gives me even more reason to track down this cart at Great Divide Brewery and get some pizza and beer.
This is my kind of pizza!!! Wood fired, slightly charred and a good chewy crust! Â We got a delicious Hot Hawaiian with pineapple and Jalapenos.
A great place to enjoy their delectable pies is at the Great Divide Brewery. You order your pizza at the their truck parked right outside, and they bring it into you when it's ready.
This is some awesome pizza! The fact that it's from a kitchen on wheels is bonus points!
I first tried Basic Kneads when I was a vendor at Horseshoe Market in May and needed some lunch. I enjoyed it then but needed a second try to write a review. I tried it again for a second time at Great Divide and then definitely knew this was some special pie!
The crew is friendly, the pie comes out pretty speedy, and did I mention it is delicious? I have tried the Margherita and the Hot Hawaiian - yum! I can't wait to find the truck around town again very soon to try out some more!
The pizza truck came to a house pizza last week end and it made everyone "happy". Â Terrific, fantastic, wonderful reviews from everyone. Â Reid took care of the group of 25 people, cooking, talking, serving and having fun. Â I recommend Basic Kneads as a catering option. Â I love the Hot Hawaiian but all the pizzas were superb. Â And it was all done in a truck!
Review Source:Thai chile chicken pizza, you are amazing! One could even get it with tofu. Or on a gluten free crust. Or with vegan cheese. Not that I would, but you could. In addition to their regular Wednesday/Friday nights at Great Divide, I can't wait to start frequenting this fun pizza truck for lunch Tuesdays and Thursdays at Civic Center Eats this summer. Still my fav food truck in Denver, and it's a big shiny new (to them) truck at that. They take credit cards now too. I'm a huge raving fan.
Review Source:5 solid stars! This is the best meal I've had out of a food truck, seriously.
Caught these guys at Horseshoe Market yesterday, and I HAD to finally try them. They were almost sold out and I was lucky to get one of the last pies. Â The line was pretty deep and I had to wait about 20 min for my pizza..but every minute was well worth it!
I had the Hot Hawaiian Pizza-red sauce, mozz, pineapple and jalapeno slices (Where was the ham?). Â Amazing, amazing , amazing. I love the taste of a pizza out of a coal fired oven. Â I don't like tomatoes either..but ate up every single bit of tomato without hesitation.
If you see these guys parked, run, don't walk! You won't be sorry.
Wow! Â I'm pleased to give out my very first five star pizza review in Denver to pizza....from a truck?!
Yes, it's true. Â We went to Great Divide on Friday evening and this gem on wheels, complete with a wood-fired oven, was parked outside.
Naturally, I went for my favorite, the classic margherita. Â They hit every point right - from the perfectly not-too-thin, not-too-thick chewy charred crust, to the flavorful tomato sauce and grape tomatoes that ooze juice in your mouth. Â They don't go overboard with the cheese, but add enough to make it a properly gooey pie. Â I'm making myself hungry again as I type this post-lunch.
The price on these delicious pizzas is quite good at $6. Â It was a decent sized pizza. Â I would even say the personal pizza would be sharable - if you could get it away from me before I eat all of it.
I'm thinking Great Divide is going to become a usual Friday stop so I can get my hands on more of this pie.
Not a big pizza fan but I literally dream about Basic Kneads pizza... super delicious, light and the price is right! I mainly get it at Great Divide and love when they have the pizza and a beer special for 10 bucks. They even provide gluten free pizza.
Attended a party a few weeks ago with Basic Kneads parked on the driveway and it was so much fun! Nothing better than a backyard get together with friends and delicious pizza.
Following these guys on Facebook, they posted that they would drive to your house and make fresh pies (min $25 order) with credit cards accepted. I too, have tried them at Great Divide, so was quite intrigued by the idea of "food cart delivery"
I contacted them to come to a private event for 150 people on a Sunday evening from 6pm-9pm. They asked for a small deposit, and showed up right on time for the gig. The truck is really cool with the wood-burning oven, and the people at our event were very impressed.
More impressive was the food and the prices. They offered 3 different styles - 8 inch pies ranging from $5-$7. The highlight of the night was the Buffalo Blue Cheese Chicken pizza. It was a hit!
The only setback was the credit card connection wasn't working, so they only took cash that night, but we were close to an ATM, and it was incidental in the long run. At the end of the night, the guys made a few extra pies to give out at the show.
Unique, authentic, with great prices, good food, and great customer service.
Excellent!!... you can't beat Pizza from the street I've now learned. These creations are the perfect natural shape with a 50/50 deliciously wood-fired crust. Topped off with all that standard goodness and a drink, what more can you ask for. I partook in the Thessaloniki (Greek) with Olives, Feta, Artichokes, Pesto and finished my pie in no time. Personally I've given up the meatiness of meat but noticed plenty of folks g'noshing on the classic pepperoni w/ crushed tomatoes or the 'Wiseguy' made with fennel sausage & co. All in all you're in for a treat, when you fulfill your basic needs for this pizza!
Review Source:I am big fan of Great Divide Brewery and last night I became a fan of Basic Kneads Pizza. Â The one downfall Great Divide has is the lack of food. Â They have invited the Basic Kneads folks to park their wood fired pizza oven food cart out front on Mondays and Wednesdays. Â I have them shot and was very impressed with the pie they are able to produce from the home made trailer te 3 brother built. Â They use great ingredients and have some great dough, plus you get that wood fired pizza flavor.
Not only do they have good pies, they have a great story behind the cart. Â It is the product of three brothers and their love for pizza. Â That to me is so much more impressive than a restaurant that opens a cart to sell its food where people are. Â If you like good pizza, give them a try when you see them out there. Â You can check their website for their locations.
One more thing, i was very impressed that they use Pine Beetle Kill to power their oven. Â Very green of them.
Heard about the business, checked out the website. Loved the description and pictures of building a mobile pizza oven. Really loved the buy local and be green effort. Sampled the pizza tonight. I fell in love with The Wiseguy. Fresh rosemary, mozzarella, sausage, and olive oil. Then, my heart felt torn in two directions after sampling The Thesselonika with  pesto sauce, kalamata olives, artichoke hearts, and feta cheese. The crust is incredible. These guys spent three months coming up with theirs, and I have to say it is well worth the effort.  I think I'm envious of the kids who get leftovers for lunch. This business is already showing that it can handle groups and events and pleased picky eaters and kids with ease.
In chatting with one of the brothers who owns this mobile pizza deliciousness, I was happy to hear that they'll regularly be at the Great Divide Brewery on Mon and Wed nights. Definitely inspirational as it got me to thinking about that bakery I used to always talk about opening.
