Great place to play pool. There are a couple 7-ft coin-op Diamond tables, ~8 9-ft Brunswicks with tight pockets, and 5 9-ft Olhausens with looser pockets in the back. All the equipment is well-maintained and there's decent spacing between the tables. They have leagues or tournaments most nights of the week and I've never had to wait for a table even with the other stuff going on. There's a good number of serious players but there's always a younger, social crowd too.
Get a $75 pre-paid players card to play for $3.75/hr if you plan to frequent this place, otherwise it's ~$12/hr.
Probably the best pool hall in the Bay Area. There are about a dozen tables, a full bar if you're into that, and outdoor patio, clean bathrooms, nice ambiance, a clean atmosphere in a safe location, nice tables, hot women. They also have pool tournaments here on Thursday nights. Nice place to chill with your friends.
Review Source:Great pool hall with awesome bartenders. The pool tables are in awesome shape - probably the best I've seen at any hall. They usually have drink specials and they make a killer passion fruit kamikaze. They also have a cool jukebox which is hooked up to the Internet which allows for just about any type of music you want. Always a great time here and like I said earlier, the bartenders are real cool and down to earth.
Review Source:This place is great to go with friends on a random night to play pool and drink beer. Â Used to to this with a group of friends every week. Â Nations is right next door, safeway across the street, plenty of places to get food after. Â The only problem was sometimes it takes forever to get a pool table. Â We've waited for hours sometimes. Â I guess they can't do much about it, but it still sucks.
Review Source:You can't fault Crown Billiards for their long waits. After all, when you charge a mere dollar per hour on Sundays, it's bound to get crowded.
Still, it takes way too long to get a table, and you have to be there when they get to your name on their neverending waiting list. Can't I just swing by the nearby 7-11 for a second?
Probably the nicest casual pool hall I've been to in the Bay Area (and definitely beats the lame ones we've got around Fremont). Crown Billiards has a large number of tables, and while we still had a bit of  wait on a Sunday evening, it wasn't anything to complain about. Plenty of entertainment options including foosball, Wii Sports, and of course a fully-stocked bar can easily occupy your time. There are plenty of tables for lounging at, as well.
This is definitely a cool spot for a casual get-together with friends on an evening where you don't feel like doing much, but still feel like hanging out someplace. Prices were super reasonable -- just 99 cents for the hour on Sunday when we played.
Excellent fish and chips...I am drooling just as I type this post. Â May have to call hubby to meet me there on the way home from work. Â Fish is always crunchy on the outside, very fresh without the smell - I could eat two servings of those. Â It's raining right now, so a hot plate of fish and chips is the answer for tonight. Â Here I come, lucky the drive is just about 10 minutes from work. Â Wheeeeee
Review Source:This is a nice relaxing place to shoot pool. I didn't know this place existed until a friend of mine told me about it. The staff are very friendly and attentive. There's a full bar, a big TV to watch, and Wii to play on.
There seemed to be an eclectic mix of pool tables there by different makes. Also, a majority of the tables have big pockets (hence the 4 stars for me). I believe there are a few with tighter pockets. Then there was a lone 7' bar table (pay per rack) on one end of the place.
Overall a nice place, seemingly well maintained, and cheap! ($1/hour on Sundays!) The regulars came across as nice people too. If I lived closer I would visit this place more often.
So me and my friend wanted to shoot some pool. Â The Hayward place was closed, so we decided to take an adventure to San Ramon. Â Definitely worth the drive. Â This place was busy on a Sunday at 4pm. Â It was a nice, clean, fun environment with a full bar. Â The bartender was nice, and was very welcoming. Â They play music off a jukebox, but it was some good music playing. Â Played 2 hours of pool and had 4 drinks and our bill only amounted to being $22. Â Definitely will come back here, its clean, fun, AND has alcohol.
Review Source:If you like to play pool and drink good drinks, Crown Billiards is the place to go. Â I don't know of another place on this side of the bay that has regulation-sized tables in quantity while also having a full bar.
This place reminds me of Cheers, but with more pool tables - There are numerous regulars mixed with a large number of pool players on virtually any night of the week. Â They also have electronic darts for those who like that sort of thing.
For the pool player- there are 8-ball leagues Tues-Thurs, a 10-ball tourny on Monday nights and a Straight Pool league on Saturday afternoons.
For those who like to have a cocktail or two (or more, but whatever), each bartender seems to have their own specialty, but each tends to have a wide range of drinks in their mental library.  Shots, cocktails, beers (even wine, but  I don't go to pool halls to drink wine) and good times are what you can expect at Crown. Â
With a decent beer selection (draft and bottle options) and a large vodka and tequila selection, their bar is pretty stocked and ready to go.
Periodically, there is live music as well and their cover charges are low, though I have not attended many of those nights.
Table rates are reasonable and are by table, not by person, and pool is $1/hr on Sundays- all day. Awesome.
The owners are cool, bartenders are fun and work hard, and the customers are mostly well behaved (though there's one or two that I could never see again and be happy). Â You can bring food in from the various places around Crown, which is convenient.
Happy hour there is from 3-7 but the discounts aren't that exciting but no place is perfect.
another free three stars but rounding down to two and i'm going against the prepaid YeLp trend.
here's my bullet-dashed list
- jukebox has the worst music selection ( i listen to everything by the way, from hip hop to country) so i'm not closed minded.
- billards, kinda pricey but the tables are clean...
- full bar (fool at bar too)
- lots of ugly rich people
- next to extremely pricey sushi restaurant
need i say more?
Came here on a Monday night and it wasn't too crowded. Â I think this place has 16 tables and and you can tell they are some what "dated" but still in decent condition. Â The pool tables seem to be a bit worn and cue sticks are not the best but they will suffice. Â I think its probably due for a face lift and an equipment update. Â
Overall friendly service and a good times with friends. Â
The one thing that I was really excited about was that they had a Tornado Foos Ball table there for .50 a game!
Great place for a bar! It was spacious, the mood was friendly and laid back, and the drinks were super affordable! All my mixed drinks were $4 each!! Wow what a deal these days among the club prices of $10 and up. Plus the male bartender working last night was awesome! At one point, I wanted to try something different so he made up a drink for me based upon my likes and dislikes and came up with a great new concotion we now call "Fruit Punch." I reccommend trying it if you come here! Another added plus, they have a huge beer pong table which makes for more fun! Overall very pleased with this place..even the restrooms were pretty clean!
Negatives: Doesn't get very busy in there so don't expect to go there and meet single people. Everyone was pretty much in groups and that was it!
Ended up here last nite. Â Pretty decent place. Tables seem well worn but nice enough. Has a little space with darts and stuff to the side. Could use a wider beer selection. The patio space outside is good for smokers, i think.
The crowd was a lot better than at Masses (Wlnt Crk).
Would go back there again.
I came here last night, and I will grant that it was a very random night (Wednesday) but I was a bit disappointed.
Now they have PLENTY of tables and a full bar so usually you can't go wrong there! But for the first hour there was NO music playing, and then when it finally did start to play it was screaming rock that guys that drive around in lifted jeeps play....needless to say that didn't really help my concerntration at all!
Here's the kicker for me though....for a little less than two hours and four beers total....42 bucks! Whew! Now I realize they gotta make their money but 12 bucks an hour for a pool table? Just seems ridiculous. Â I could be pumpin quarters in that thing to play it and spend less money then that. Its hard to hate on 4.50 beers cause so many places rip you off....but it is San Ramon and not the city....lighten up a little!
All in all, I think that I may just have to come on a Sat/Sun cause I just can't afford to get drunk AND play pool here any other night.
This is one of my favorite pool halls. Â They have $1/hour pool tables Saturday (daytime) and Sunday (all day). Â All you pay for is your booze. Â You can even bring in your own food. Â The tables are in great shape and the cues aren't too bad either. Â I hate going to pool halls where 90% of the sticks are crooked or missing tips. Â The drinks are a little on the pricy side, but when you're paying $1/ hour, you really have no room to complain. Â
The crowd is great, not packed w/ college kids like Masse's in Walnut Creek. Â This is a place where real pool players go.
Reasonably priced drinks. Â Plenty of pool tables. Â Good music on the juke box (with a few cringe-worthy exceptions, but that's a matter of preference). Â Friendly bartenders. Chilled out crowd. Crown isn't any special, but what it does, it does right, and when you're looking to play pool and drink beer do you really need anything more than that? Â I'll definitely be coming back here for years to come when I'm itching to get my pool game on and catch up with friends.
Review Source:My friends and I decided to try something new in the area and hit up Crown Billiards on a Sunday evening. We got there during a drink special time so we ended up getting super cheap drinks that weren't weak and playing pool for super cheap as well.
The place has a lot of tables but filled up as the night went on. We were there and played a couple games while enjoying the juke box music. The equipment was in good condition and the place was clean and staff friendly. Defiantly a place to return to and a cheaper activity to do in the area!
Pretty chill place! Met here as a meeting spot for a little get together on a Saturday night, and ended up staying. Not too crowded which is unusual for a late sat night. Nice, laid-back crowd and cool bartenders (played along when we asked for a personalized drink!) Didn't get to play any games of pool because of a lacking of time management on my part.
A half hour and 2 drinks go by and we forget that the place even has pool tables...better luck next time, wino :( Â All in all a good time.
Welcome to the Boys Club! Â The hubby and I arrived around 6:15p on a Thursday night and the after work/pre-league boys were in full swing. Â One of the bartenders and I were the only women in the place until about an hour later. Â While listening to the table next to us talk about plumbing and construction jobs, I couldn't help but think this scene was missing something. Â And then, it happened. Â Some one chose Journey on the jukebox. Â Perfect.
Good clean spot for pool, not a great selection of beers on tap, but it sufficed. Â They don't shut the place down for league play which was nice, just choose a table in the back. The tables have been well used and the felt is all but worn off, so play was pretty slick. Â $16 for two beers and about 75 minutes of play.
I'll give it all five stars. Â The tables are nicely maintained, and spaced apart sufficiently with adequate seating at each table. Â They have a full bar. Â The people are friendly. Â They have a little social area away from the pool tables with dart boards, a bar pool table, and chairs and tables. Â There is an underground parking garage in addition to a shared parking lot.
They do not serve food, but they maintain a list of local menus if you want to order some food to bring in. Â
They also have several 8-ball leagues a week and a weekly USPPA 9-ball tournament. Â $1/hour table specials a couple of times a week.
In the ladies room, for 75 cents in a vending machine you can get a tampon packed in a pink polka dot wrapper that promises "A mood lifting message inside". Â I didn't buy it, but it did make me laugh.
Very nice pool room.
Count me surprised that this gem was that close to where I live, yet I never set foot in it for 17 years until this year. Count me ashamed when I found out that they offer $1/hr pool on select hours on Saturday, all day Sunday. Shame....shame.
This place is great, a definite place you'd want to stop by and not only shoot pool but just kick back and relax. Beers on tap, crowd picks up around 10, and you have yourself a hang out spot. They also have foosball and virtual dart boards to play around with.
Only thing is that you gotta call ahead and see if the tables are booked for certain nights, because they have leagues that play and take up either all or most of the tables after a certain time.
Other than that, its awesome. Just walk around the plaza and you'll get a sushi or italian place. Bookmark, kids.
Wow. The tables at this place play very nicely. I pocketed a ball every break I made and even made the 9-ball once on a break. I play on an Olhausen table but they have Brunswicks too. Did I mention they have a bar that serves hard liquor and nice bartenders at that? The tables and balls very well maintained. Although not very well placed. They charge $12/hr with no credit minimum. It's definetly a place worth coming back too. I can probably play here for hours at a time.
Review Source:A fairly low key place to go, Crown Billiards is my favorite place to shoot pool. Â The facilities are well taken care of and the staff is very nice. Â The prices for drinks aren't bad, and even though I wish the price for playing was lower, it's still not so bad.
One of the best things about Crown is that there's plenty of seating for observers or rests in between shots and they do have $1.00 pool specials some days. Â The website is super informative and lets you know practically everything needed to know.
