I visited this place despite the poor reviews from here and from what my mother heard. I went on a rainy Saturday, around 4p - it had customers but not packed. My experience was excellent. I came in not knowing what I wanted at all, not beer, not meal. But the waiter stuck it out and went through each item on the menu with me. For beer, we decided that I would try his recommendation, and if I didn't like it, he'd take it back and bring me something else. When he brought the beer, he stood there to see how I liked it. I told him it wasn't for me, he laughed, and then took it back, bringing me another in its place. He didn't charge me for the first one.
As far as the food, I ordered shrimp and grits, and I'm seriously still thinking about it. The grits were creamy and cheesy and had a mashed potato consistency. It was topped with shrimp seasoned with Cajun spices, and thin strips of ham. Â I am seriously contemplating going back, but it's $18.
That's the real drawback of this place. It's insultingly expensive for a BBQ joint.
I walked in with a party of 10 on a Friday night. Â It was my 30th birthday party. Â None of my friends wanted to go there (they heard service was terrible) but went because I wanted to see dueling pianos and it was my big 3-0. Â Lucky for us there was plenty of seating so they were able to seat my group. Â NO ONE came to serve us drinks. Â So I flagged down the manager who had greeted me early. I told him no one has served us or even come to say hi in 20 minutes. Â After telling him, still NO ONE came to serve us. I text the other five people that were on their way to join us and said don't come, reserve us a table elsewhere. I really wanted a drink before leaving so I walked up to the bar to get one myself on my birthday. Â While there, the manager passed by and I complained and told him we had more people and that I told them not to come because we are leaving. Â He said his waiter swore he stopped by our table and was told we were fine. I told him he was mistaken. I sat down to down my drink so we could leave and a server came by to offer us a round on the house. Â He told my friend he had stopped by our table 3 times. Â He told me he had come by at least 5 or 6 times. Â I asked around and no one had ever seen him. Â TERRIBLE service. Â We decided to take the round on the house and then leave. Â The server said we could have anything we wanted then tried to convince me everyone would want a particular shot (probably because its easier to make one shot for everyone). Â Everyone in my party agreed that we will never go back there. Â By the way, my party spent $$$$ at the next venue. Â We spent maybe $$ at BB and then left. Â If they had the service we would have spent time and money there, after all, it was my big birthday and we were thirsty! Don't go there if you actually want a drink, or any kind of service. Â Appallingly awful!
Review Source:I knew we were in trouble when we sat down and it took 10 minutes until a server approached and asked if we were being helped yet, keep in mind that the place was half empty. We ordered drinks and the hummus app. and then another server came over and told us they would be waiting on us. This person was actually a manager and we placed our dinner order with her. The app showed up and the hummus was the consistency of play doh and the pita that came with it was so greasy that it literally shined with grease and oil was pooled on the plate, we sent it right back. The server/mgr took it back and was very apologetic. Dinner showed up and my Ahi sandwich looked good but the size of the piece of fish for $14 was embarrassing. My wife ordered the Cajon Caesar with added shrimp and it was a joke for $18. It looked like they just threw some pieces of romaine on a side plate, threw 5 croutons on it and sent it out of the kitchen. The shrimp were tiny in size and number and over cooked and like rubber to the teeth. We sent her salad back, cut my Ahi sandwich in half, ate it, got the check, and got the heck out. Def not going to revisit this place ever.
Review Source:Decided to finally try BB Kings for dinner and li
sten to some music on a Saturday night in West Palm Beach.
We put our names on a list for dinner and when we were called we were led to a room with a band playing, a dance floor, and tables set for eating.
Now, I am going to tell you that it was tight quarters... Not that it was snug and the tables were close... No, the tables were so tight that you can't get to them without moving other tables. REALLY!
Now, imagine people are sitting down, well you aren't getting out unless people get up and either go to the dance floor or move their tables so you can squeeze your body through as they pin themselves to accommodate you.
Ok so we sat down, to eat dinner, after paying a $10.00 cover x 2. We sat there with menus and a beer/wine list and that is it. No drinks, no waiter, no food, just sat there.
Finally asked my wife... Is this what we had in mind? She says, what do you want to do, we just spent $20.00 to get in this place, what can we do? I said, you having fun? She said no.
We asked people to move their tables, their chairs, get up, and we squeezed our bodies out of the place never to return.
If you want to sit in a mass like a sardine to hear a band, have at it. You want to have a drink or eat dinner, i would go anywhere else.
Honestly, I didn't have high expectations for this place since I'm not a big jazz fan and places like this don't usually have good food. Â How wrong I was! Â My wife's relatives decided to come here to celebrate their daughter's 21st birthday. Â She wanted to celebrate with her family so they had to pick a place where her younger sister could get in. Â My wife and I arrived around 8pm and they had a pretty good Eagles cover band on the stage. Â I had all but prepared to eat somewhere else since I usually don't have good luck at these live music places in terms of food options. Â However, I couldn't believe it when I looked at the menu. Â They have a full menu of bbq and southern fare along with a fairly big drink menu. Â They had a deal where you order a drat beer in a souvenir glass and you not only get to keep the glass, but refills (yes, refills) are a little cheaper. Â I ended up only getting one beer but it's nice to know the option was there to get a second or third at a reduced price. Â As for food, I ordered the bbq chicken and ribs combo which comes with baked beans and fries. Â I asked to switch one of the sides for the hush puppies and the waiter immeditately replied, "Can I make a suggestion? Â Don't get our hush puppies. Â Just don't" Â Enough said! Â Although I wonder if they are really that bad that their own wait staff is not recommending them, why don't they find a new recipe or stop offereing them? Â The food actually came out before my beer did and even the mixed, fruity drinks came out before mine did. Â I had to remind the waiter about the beer after waiting approx. ten minutes after I received my food. Â I think he forgot about it b/c he delivered it within minutes after I reminded him. Â The food was really good esp. the ribs. Â They really did fall off of the bonea and they had a lot of meat on them which you don't typically see at a chain restaurant. Â I would defintiely order the ribs here again. Â As for the music, once the Eagles band finished, another bluesy/classic rock band took the stage and I ddin't like them as much. Â They do have a pretty decent sized dance floor and a lot of folks took advantage of it. Â I wish they music had been better with the second band b/c I really wanted to dance; I just wasn't feeling the music. Â They do have a dueling piano bar in the back which I took a quick peek at after using the restroom but it wasn't that crowded in that room suggesting either the singers weren't great or not enough people know its back there. Â
When I go back to City Center, BB King's is definitely an option. Â You have to be in the mood for a place like this, but assuming you are, I highly suggest it.
Came here for lunch. My boyfriend got their 12.99 buffet brunch. It's a pretty good deal. the choices included grits, biscuits and gravy, beef brisket, gumbo, fresh veggies, corn bread, collard greens, brownies, cookies, fried chicken to name a few. There was more, but I can't remember it all. Worth the price if you're hungry. They also have $2 mimosas and $5 bloody marys.
I ordered the pulled pork sandwich- just a typical sandwich. nothing out of the ordinary. My friends ordered the beef brisket. I think they liked it because they ate their entire meal. The mac and cheese is pretty good. I didn't care too much for the sweet potato fries. It was the skinnier fries and a little too crunchy for my liking.
Overall, it was a decent place to have lunch and enjoy the beautiful Florida weather.
Really chill Jazzy/blues spot! Â Love the live band and the ppl seem very nice and down to earth. Â They have a simple menu, "Southern" style. Â I ordered the roasted half chicken with garlic mashed potatoes with collard greens and my boyfriend ordered grilled mahi mahi with steamed rice and veggies. Â The food was really good. Â We were expecting a blah experience with the food, but were actually very surprised! Â My roasted chicken was very moist and flavorful. Â The BBQ sauce that it comes with is DAMN good! Â Their collard greens wasn't too good though...but I am very picky with collard greens. Â Their mahi mahi was so fresh and delicious...I also ordered their banana bread pudding and it was eh. Â They also have happy hour during the day which is nice. Â This is our new spot for sure...
Review Source:Club stage is the main area. Started with Roasted Toasted Almond Martini and a Lucille (rum, Blue curaçao, orange and pineapple) and spinach dip. Lip smacking ribs were very good, falling off the bone!  Wife had the grilled mahi plate which was good, cooked just right.  Food and drinks are a a little pricey, but there is no cover or drink min to stop in and listen.  Jessica C waited on us and was excellent.  It was a Sunday night and the place wasn't that busy, but it was nice to just relax and listen to some good music.  The All Star Band did a very good job and played a mix of different songs, not all R&B, which I think is good.  We had a good time and will go back again, hopefully we can catch major group playing.
Review Source:Ate at the bar and had happy hour specials. Had slider appetizer and caesar salad, which were typical chain restaurant food - nothing spectacular.Cool feature is an indoor/outdoor bar. The bar stools are too low though (sitting at the bar stool, the bar came up to above my chest). Management said they were trying to fix this after I made a comment.
Review Source:We met up with several friends here, and the food was good. It was not great, but it was not exceptional, either. The server was nice at first, but she would "forget" that she asked us 15 minutes ago if we needed anything, leaving the drinks that we had requested at the bar. We had been there for about two hours before getting tired of constantly reminding her that she had already taken orders... We finally started heading up to the bar ourselves. Towards the end, one of our friends had requested a final beer. She left his drink on the bar (again), and when she finally brought it, it was clearly not even close to what he asked for. At this point he said he was not going to drink it and he did not want it, so she gave him a huge attitude and stormed off.
While the manager did come to us and was super nice, I still do not know that I would come back here. It may have been different if the food was better, but overall I was just not super-impressed. The food was pretty good, but....
I was in the perfect mood for this place at the perfect time. I really like this place.
I was here on a very pleasant Saturday afternoon. I liked the smooth R&B playing in the background as I sat at the outside bar portion. It's easy to get lost in the Palm  trees swaying, and the waterfall trickling in the background.
I had a burger and fries. Good stuff and priced at typical West Palm prices. I was able to Foursquare 20 percent off the meal, so that was a win.
Looking forward to returning and hearing some dueling pianos and/or live blues.
Im always annoyed when places have people outside trying to coax me inside. Naturally BB kings has this. We were sat and the waiter came over to greet us. He told us about the specials and asked if we wanted to get started. We told him we needed a minute to think about the drinks. While we were "thinking" two tables near us were seated, drinks ordered and brought and their food orders were taken. A short while later, he comes back to our table and asks if anyone has helped us (you were suppose to be helping us!!!) and we said someone had but then never came back.
he was an average server the rest of the night, but nothing spectacular. they werent even busy that night either. The food was above average and the drink i ordered was pretty strong, but i probably wont go back here again.
A good music venue that is unfortunately marred by also being a mediocre theme park of a restaurant.
My dad chose B.B. King's for his birthday dinner and we had called in a reservation for 8 people. When we arrived, the place wasn't busy at all, but they still sat all 8 of us at 2 tiny tables lined up next to each other. We asked if we could sit somewhere else, but they refused (citing that one of the servers would lose a table, or something along those lines). Eventually, they simply added another small table after we politely raised the issue again, so we finally had some elbow room. I'm perfectly fine with (and accustomed to) squeezing into tight seating situations when eating at small or busy restaurants... but this place was neither small nor busy. Other than this, the service seemed mostly fine.
With the seating resolved, I was still looking forward to trying the food. Sadly, it didn't shine through. The fried chicken was juicy, but jarringly salty. The mac n' cheese was all wrong. It wasn't very cheesy at all, just sad and drowning in a flavorless cream sauce.
I also made the mistake of ordering their house beer, "Blues Brew", joking to my wife how I was hoping that it wouldn't be a glass of weak, piss-yellow water. Of course, that's exactly what it was when it came out. Basically, the whole meal was typical of overpriced themed restaurant chain food.
I can say is that some of the live music here was great. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the incredibly talented J.P. Soars was performing that night, and he and his band (The Red Hots) were absolutely stellar. They get 5 stars.
My dinner, unfortunately, didn't fare as well. If all you're looking for is live music and a drink, this place could possibly suit your needs. It definitely works as a venue for the type of music being performed here. Just grab a better bite elsewhere first.
Starters:
Great location in City Place... great dinner spot if you would like to grab a meal with some friends or someone special before a comedy show, the cinema or any of the bazillion other attractions in and around City Place.
Live Music: It's a Blues Club so be prepared for tunes. Out on the terrace is a blues singer playing and singing tunes like The Beatles "Here Comes the Sun" (One of my faves), in the Bar section is a genre specific band-- Last night was Country; and if you would like to get away from the noise you're welcome to sit inside and watch highlights of sports on the big screens inside...
We sat inside but close enough to hear "Here Comes the Sun" through the doors :)
Wednesday, not so busy but steady flow of happy regulars and some first timers like myself and my love. TIP: Make a reservation if you plan on coming on the weekend.
Apps: Happy Hour is from 3-8 and has a collection of foods and "juices" at discounted rates...
We shared a Buffalo Wing Basket and ordered Mango Sweet Tea and Lemonade... The wings were probably the best I've EVER had! Like seriously...
We both ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken and the highly recommended Mac and Cheese... Neither one of us were in love with our dishes, they were good but not great. Portion sizes were good though... enough for leftovers the next day.
Gets a bit pricy so look out for restaurant certificates from <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FRestaurant.com&s=0aab4cbd731f3d3b0d1453050d3abc56a8c80bd214e25469c7555b750dca8a51" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://Restaurant.com</a> and save big on good food and good music!
Will, I return you ask? For the wings and tunes...absolutely ;)
They have a guy in a blue suit persuading you to go into the restaurant, a guy that puts soap on your hand in the bathroom then towels it off. Â They are trying to make it more than it is, they don't need these gimmicks. Â They had a happy hour of 2 for 1, a co-worker ordered a jack and ginger ale and paid $8.50 for a double. Â The glass was typical size and no fancy umbrella. Â
Now on to the food, I ordered the full rack of ribs and baked beans. Â The ribs were quite good but not bone sucking good. Â The beans were below average. Â Fun to visit once.
Walk upstairs, don't wear a baseball cap, and be ready for a loud music time. Â The live music was excellent, and almost all the songs were recognizable. Â However, it is not a good place for any kind of intimate or non-intimate conversation.
The fried pickles have a kick of spice to them and are sliced pickles. Â The spinach dip was the best; it was cheese dip with spinach and extra parmesan in it. Â
I had the pulled pork sandwich, and the portion of meat was quite small. Â I tried some of the cheeseburger and that was alright too. Â I think the most popular item at our table was the rib plate.
The women's restroom has a lot of stalls, and a woman was there at the sink giving you soap. Not my favorite aspect of the restaurant...
I'm all about paying a cover to support musicians and their crazy habits, however, if you have a place right next to a movie theater and you know people are just gonna pop in for a quick drink, you might want to think about NOT charging a cover for the patio bar. We probably would've spent at least the cover amount ($11) on some quick drinks while we were waiting for the rest of our party to get outta the movies. Oh well, maybe next time.
Review Source:Got pulled in here by some blues playing in the courtyard, what can I say I'm a sucker for live music. The kicker was the chalkboard outside that read "Happy Hour 3-7, half-off drinks and appetizers!"
BB King's is situated at a great location in the think of things at City Place with outdoor and indoor seating. We took advantage of the nice weather and requested an outdoor table. Considering it was mid-afternoon, the place had a good amount of people enjoying their Saturday.
I should say we weren't particularly hungry but instead just grabbed a couple of drinks, which were quickly served and an appetizer. We went with Catfish Bites, which were amazing, little morsels of goodness. I was expecting thickly battered crumbs of fish, instead we got nice, meaty chunks with a very light batter...oh so good. We also ordered the gumbo, which was good, but nothing memorable.
The menu was enticing with lots of traditional southern dishes and I'd definitely stop in again if I was in the area.
Ate here for dinner with my husband. It was good. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich topped off with cheese, BBQ sauce , hickory smoked bacon, and onion crispers, with a side of white cheddar Mac and cheese. The only complaint with my sandwich was the onion crispers were not crispy. The Mac and cheese was fantastic topped off with shredded Parmesan and scallions.
My husband had shredded BBQ pork and was really good.
The service was perfect. Our waitress was on top of our drinks and we did not have to wait longer than average for anything! We didn't see the show. We chose to sit on the restaurant side.
I caught Dr. John last night, and B.B. King when he came to the club a few months ago. There some positives since my last concert, and some continued negatives that the club management really needs to address, including TICKET SALES FOR THE CLUB (READ BELOW)
Positive: Â New managers have improved the floor plan for table seating in the club GREATLY. Â The diamond table seating configuration gives them a lot of tables, but you're not doing as much "family style" seating of people like they do over at the Improv. Â Much better. Â
Positive: The menu has been tweaked a bit and has some nice options. My wife is not a spicy food eater, so the half chicken with mashed potatoes works, and I'm told that it was pretty good. Â TRY THE SWEET POTATO PUFFS with the caramel sauce. Â They have them as an appetizer, but they'd make a wicked dessert!
Big Positive: B.B.King's West Palm Beach club is definitely getting to be the place where you will see stars of Jazz, soul and the Blues. Â Dr. John was amazing to see in a small, N'Awlins style venue, AND, AND...
Moment of in the presence of Greatness: I met Steve "The Colonel" Cropper (Booker T. & The MGs, Blues Brothers Band, Otis Redding, Sam & Dave). This guy co-wrote "In the Midnight Hour" with Wilson Pickett and "Sittin' on the Dock of the Bay" with Redding. Â Now how freakin' cool is that? Â He's apparently an investor in these clubs and he was there to check it all out. Â He says that Donald "Duck" Dunn, another Blues Brother, and possibly one of the most famous bass players living today, also checks out the club from time to time.
BIG NEGATIVE: Â BE WARNED THAT ONLINE TICKETING TO THEIR EVENTS ONLY SELLS GA (General Admission SRO Tickets). They split up online and phone/venue, where they sell the better table seats. Personally I think that this is stupid, and they try to pass this off as they're not responsible for the online company, but I pointed out that they're the ones that look bad for this, because you have no idea that the whole room isn't GA tickets when you go online to buy, and I live miles from the club so stopping in can be a problem. Until they find a better ticketing system, CALL THE RESTAURANT TO GET TICKETS TO EVENTS DIRECTLY. Â We wanted a table so we could sit and eat. It was $10pp more, which was fine, but I would have loved to have bought that online.
BIG POSITIVE TURNED INTO BIG NEGATIVE- Â One of the wonderful things about this club is its size and layout. You sit literally inches from some of the top acts in the world when they bring in people like B.B.. King or Dr. John. Â It would be worth EVERY PENNY to pay for higher priced VIP tickets IF THEY SECURED THE AREA BETTER. Â Again last night, people who shelled out to sit down front got upstaged by people who decide, when the artist asks everyone to stand up, to march down to the front and then proceed to stay there. Â My son and I got so trampled at the end of the B.B. King concert, because we were front and center, that we had to evacuate the seats because we were mobbed by aggressive autograph seekers. Â They band everyone's hand with the type of ticket. Â Get someone to enforce it without having to wait 30 minutes for the cavalry to come and rescue you (And Mr. Cheap Bastard, who keeps coming back on the $30.00 ticket, dig into your piggy bank so you can sit where you want to... You know who you are....)
Negative: Assistant Managers still haven't got customer service down. The door/seating is chaotic and disorganized at times because the manager doesn't empower the girls taking tickets or selling them to do much to resolve special issues.
Negative: Service is still a bit slow. There are too few people working the floor, but it was much more positive and friendly and good when it came.
Still the best Blues Club in South Florida, and lots of room to get better and make those of us who are deeply appreciative that they put it here turn out and support their investment.
I was hoping that when BB's opened it would become a favorite since they offer live music along with dinner. Well, the music is pretty good. It's loud, so don't sit in the main room if you want conversation. But, there is another room where you can hear the music and still hold a convo. I sit by the band!!
The food, however, is nothing special. Fried green tomatoes is a southern delicacy but rarely found in a restaurant. Unfortunately, they were so greasy that even 5 guys couldn't finish them. Nachos with pork, cheese etc. were decent. Burgers are ok. I haven't tried the ribs, so maybe that is where they will shine...next time.
Go to BB's!!! Listen, dance, and maybe...eat!
The good- fried pickles are delish (if you dont mind salty food), the gumbo is good, and my boyfriend enjoys the BBQ. Good selection of drinks and beer.
The bad- THE SERVICE IS AWFUL. I tried BB Kings with a group of my friends the night of my college graduation. We thought it'd be a fun place to celebrate. Our service was so slow, the waitress ignored us, and even people seated after us ate and left before we got our meals. Finally, after TWO HOURS without food, we asked to speak to the manager. He was very apologetic and offered us free drinks and comped our meals, explaining that they were still working out their computer system. We gave the restaurant the benefit of the doubt, since they just opened.
Unfortunately, we had a similar experience just a month ago. We came here for an early dinner on a quiet afternoon and our food took nearly an hour to arrive. We were starving when we seated, so we ordered two appetizers. These appetizers arrived AFTER we had already finished our meal (which took an extremely long time to come out).
I really hope BB Kings works on their service. The food, drinks, and atmosphere are all great, but not enough to make up for the sub-par service.
We didn't eat here, just came for the music. It was a Monday night and DEREK MACK BAND was on.....and O-M-G. They were incredible!! Â They played everything from R&B to Prince and Michael Jackson. Â Their voices are powerful and amazing. Â I could go on and on... but I will not bore you all..... I can not rave enough about them. They play there every Monday night. Definitely check them out, even if you are not eating there....We did order a drink off their special menu; pretty good but it was $10 and a lot of ice. But you got to keep the souvenir glass (very touristy) ...we'll keep it in our bar.
Review Source:This place is fun. We went on a Friday night and it was pretty full, but we got seated without a wait. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. The pulled pork and fried chicken were good, but the macaroni and cheese and fried pickles (very salty) weren't so great. The "house" beer was good.
The real reason to go to BB King's is the music. The house band was great. It was a diverse crowd and everybody seemed to be having a good time. This is the place to go if you're looking for music and dancing, but aren't in the mood for the typical "club" scene.
This was the only place that we could get in on a Saturday night without a reservation. The food was mediocre, and the service was a disaster... Â The server had to use a electronic notepad, which I don't think our server knew how to use... My friends and I had to ask for everything; utensils, refills, and napkins. Â We also asked for simple things like if they could cut a chicken sandwich in half, and the server said yes... but when we got it, it was not cut... Â The server also did not know the menu... after we ordered our food, she came back out and asked my friend what kind of dressing he would like on his salad, when the menu clearly stated the type of dressing that accompanied the salad... She also delivered my soup along with my entree... Maybe its just me, but don't you usually get your soup before your entree??? Â
I ordered the gumbo, and I'm gonna list what was wrong with it: it wasn't hot, it was luke warm at best. Â The rice was undercooked and crunchy. Â There was no shrimp, but it did have crawfish. Â Lastly, it wasn't spicy at all... I also ordered the Memphis salad with grilled chicken. Â The salad was just a plain salad with cheese, tomatoes, and cucumber. Â I ordered the dressing on the side and got warm balsamic vinaigrette, and luke warm ranch. Â My friends ordered the shrimp Louie salad, and it looked good, but again he got room temperature Louie dressing, and overcooked shrimp... Â Also, you can tell that they don't brew the ice tea... it tasted like the ones out of the soda dispenser.... syrup and water...
It's located in a great location, upstrairs next to the movie theater in City Place, but that's pretty much it... The lighting is very dim and we had to use our cell phones in order to read the menus and sign for the check. Â They do have live entertainment, which wasn't half bad, but we didn't stay to hear the live band play in the club that was right next to the restaurant. Â BB's replaced Legal Seafood and Bar Louie. Â They kept the Bar Louie set up the same, but added a stage. Â
FYI, if your going for the blues club, there's a cover charge... but if you eat there, you get to go into the club for free...
