This review is long overdue but I feel compelled to update my review. After a less than desirable first experience at Beachfire, I wanted to give it a second chance because it has so much potential. The second experience provided similar service and food, however I was more disgruntled because it was this past fall before the restaurant closed for the season and my boyfriend and I were 1 of 3 couples in the ENTIRE restaurant... I tried to cut the restaurant slack the first time because it was quite busy and a nice day in the summer. The second time I visited, it was dead like i previously mentioned and pouring rain outside. There is no reason when it is dead and only 3 couples in the whole restaurant that service should be lax. Now let me make things clear- I am not one who goes to a place like Beachfire expecting 5-star service, but I DO expect servers to not have personal conversations (venting about co-workers and managers )3 feet away from me; That was my dinner music, the entire time I was there! I also don't expect when it is a quiet, no DEAD, night to have to wait over a half hour for a meal. The fish was petrified and the vegetables were swimming in garlic and butter- I couldn't taste the vegetables. My boyfriend and I shared a crab cake that wasn't great, but it was good. My boyfriend got the lobster roll which had hardly any lobster in it, and what lobster was there was so chewy he couldn't swallow half of it.
This place could be AWESOME...
OK....I emailed the owner and told him what a horrible experience I had on my previous visit and he sent me a gift card and a nice letter asking me to try them again. Â I did and I have to say that this visit was a 180 from my previous experience. Â First, our server (I believe her name was Marianne?) was fantastic - nothing like the servers I had there in the past. Â And the food was actually good! Â Downsides were the long wait for food (our server apologized and actually gave us free drinks bc of it) and the seats/table were dirty. Â But, overall, a good experience this time!!
Review Source:Great view. Bad everything else.
I gave one star because the view is nice, and they let me bring my dog to sit on the patio.
I sat for awhile, waiting for my friends. It probably took the waitress about ten minutes to even ask if I wanted a drink. I got a pomegranate margarita. She didnt ask if I wanted rocks or frozen. It arrived on the rocks ( without rocks) in half a margarita glass, and half a plastic cup. It was all syrup, no booze. Generally kind of blah and a waste of sugar calories.
When the waitress first approached me, I told her that I was in a real hurry ( it was 5 and I needed to leave at 6) and I gave her my card and asked her for a separate tab so I wouldnt have to wait for my friends to finish and then divide everything up. Point being I made it very clear I was here for a drink or two and then I needed to leave.
Friend 1 showed up, was able to order her drink in a decent amount of time. Friends 3 and 4 showed up, and probably had to wait about 15-20 mins just to order a first drink. They are usually pretty cool cucumbers, and even they were getting annoyed.
I ordered a 1/2 dozen oysters and 1 more drink ( went with the standard vodka/soda...cant screw that up right). The drink was done well, thank god, the oysters came warm on a bed of....lettuce?? No lemon. I think Helen Keller may have shucked these bad boys as well- the muscle wasnt cut, so they didnt slide off the shell, all of the brine had been spilled, and there were pieces of shell in the oyster. MM, hot crunchy, lettuce oyster salad. As I mentioned previously, I was short on time. I went to the bar and asked for some ice and a lemon to be brought over. 10 minutes later, I went back to the bar to ask again, and was finally just given the ice/lemon. Did i really just have to beg for ice for oysters??
I left stupified and 45 minutes late. I have never given a waitress a bad tip before, but this one was just too much for me to deal with. $40 later for 1 crappy drink, some hot oysters, and one decent drink... I left just mad. All I wanted was a relaxing couple of beach cocktails with my friends!
We didn't eat at Beachfire so this review is just for the drinks and the experience. We walked in at around 6 Â PM on a Sunday evening. A raspy Adele-like singer was belting out Rolling in the Deep to a great guitar accompaniment. The place was mobbed.
It was low tide and a few stragglers were wandering around the beach. As the sun came down, it hit the rocks behind Beachfire bringing out all the colors buried in the stones: purples, grays, silvers. The sky was pink and azure. The sky, the ocean, the music, the wine. You can't find this in many places around here. It's a bit magical. I'm guess I'm glad we didn't try the food.
Boy, did I want to like Beachfire! Why is it so hard to find a waterfront restaurant with decent food? Despite the spectacular sea-side setting of this place, or maybe because of it, we get the typical phoned-in, mediocre fare of every other waterfront seafood joint from the Mid-Cape to the North Shore. (Think greasy fried seafood; burgers; limp, over-dressed salads and Costco chicken wings. I will, however, amend that to say the chowder here is good.) This place has so much potential to be a really killer year-round restaurant, it's such a shame to see yet another waterfront spot coasting by on its pretty view and ability to sell booze. Â (I would LOVE to see Gordon Ramsey get his mitts on this place!)
Do go to this place with a full stomach and lowered gustatory expectations on a beautiful summer evening to enjoy drinks, excellent live music and a spectacular water view. If you squint past the sloppy clientele and beleaguered wait staff and don't eat the food you can almost imagine you're in La Jolla. Wear your drinking shoes, (ie NOT heels) because the footing on the outdoor terrace can be a little uneven. Also, unless you can find a spot on the street, expect to pay $7 to park in the Nantasket Beach lot. Cramped quarters in the restroom, too. (And would it kill them to empty the overflowing trash in there?)
I've come to Natasket beach for a few years now and I've just now heard about Beachfire. I wanted to eat out doors by the beach but I didn't want your typical board walk restaurant. A friend suggested to head to this restaurant right on a cliff with awesome an beach view.
Located at the very beginning of Natasket Beach towards the Carosel. Beachfire is the perfect location to see all of Nastasket Beach with beautiful views of rocky cliffs into the water. Perfect place to enjoy the sunset. There's an Indoor restaurant and out-door bar and patio to eat, they also have live bands that play friday-sunday nights.
The menu has your typical bar food like burgers, wings, and nachos. They serve up seafood items like Clam Strips, mussels, Lobsters rolls, crab cakes. Entrees such as Rib Eye Steak, Twin Lobsters, clam bake. There's really something for everyone. Prices range from $8 to $18.
Service was quick and friendly, the food was good, and the view is awesome. I'm just so sad that summer comes and goes so quickly that I can't enjoy this place enough.
The place smelled gruesome upon entry and we almost turned around but we were starving so we headed to the outdoor patio. Â It didn't stink out there so imagine my surprise when I read the numerous reviews that talk about the dumpsters next to the patio? Â I got a margarita that was so sour it makes my mouth water to even write about it. Â I stirred it up thinking that would help but all it did was cause the little flies that were floating in it to rise to the top. Â I'm positive they didn't just fly in because I had the drink all of 30 seconds. Â When I pointed them out to the waitress all she said was "oh". Â She did take it off the bill though. Â Food was mediocre, bordering on yuck. Â They had a woman with a guitar and great voice playing outside which was nice. Â Someone else wrote that the music was too loud but this must have been a different musician because it made for good background music. Â
I'm not sure why the places that occupy this space can't seem to get it right. Â It's too bad because the outdoor patio is so beautiful. Â This place has potential if they improve the food and service (and I suppose get rid of the bugs in the drinks).
I headed up here last night just in case the smell from the dumpster was a fluke last week. Unfortunately, the smell was strong once again and we just turned around and went to Bridgemans. I really hope they figure out something to do with the dumpsters! It's ruining the ambiance and the beauty of this place.
Review Source:The view here is fantastic and the food & service were great too.
I went here on a crowded Friday night a few weeks ago and had a great experience. We sat at the inside bar while we waited for our table outside and the bartenders were fantastic. Â Once we were seated it didn't take long for our food to come once we had ordered and the waitress was very attentive. Great experience, we will definitely go back.
Very glad to hear that this place isn't closing, after all, but they have definitely got a few problems that they need to solve.
I ate here last summer, and if I were to base my rating on the food and service alone, I would give Beachfire 4 (or probably 5 ) stars. (E.g. I showed up on a late Sunday afternoon, wanted to eat outside on the patio, and even though they were very busy, I was seated immediately. Then, 30 seconds later, my server shows up, asks me if I want a drink and after giving her my order, she went running--literally--towards the kitchen. Then, about 10 seconds after that, a nice young guy in his 20's came over to my table to make sure that I had been waited on and that I hadn't been waiting too long for my order--at which point my waitress comes back out and comes booking towards my table with my drink. Basically, it took about 5 minutes, at the most, to get seated, place my drink order, and get served--and I continued to get that kind of service throughout my entire meal. And this girl didn't even slack off when a party of 8 was seated next to me!) And the food was amazing. I ordered the seafood platter, and everything was fried a beautiful golden brown and there were enough fries on my plate to feed four people (and they didn't skimp on the seafood, either).
BUT....
Yeah, here comes the BUT and, unfortunately, it was a big one and it ruined the whole meal for me. You see, they were also featuring live "music" on the patio and, in my opinion, that was a huge mistake. First of all, the Beachfire patio isn't big enough to accomodate a live band, not even a small one (and this one was very small, consisting of 3 people). But they were mic'ed up and in an area that small, the end result is that you get your eardrums blown out. (And it also didn't help that the band, consisting of two guys on guitar and a woman singer, were playing some kind of rocked-up version of 70's elevator music.) But I would have felt the same way even if they had been playing music that I did like, because the acoustics were just too much for the patio and after about 10 minutes, I said something to my server about it. (And I wasn't the only one, because she told me that several of her other customers had complained to her, as well, but apparently, nobody could do anything about it). Which was really too bad, because the so-called entertainment should never have been allowed to ruin the dining experience for a whole patio full of people, but because no one stopped them, this band did. They just completely dominated the entire patio, there was no escaping them (at one point, Â the female singer, who looked and sounded like a cross between Carly Simon and Janis Joplin, asked us how we-all in the cheap seats were doin') and it just plain sucked, because I completely felt like my head was being assaulted, to the point where I, literally, couldn't even taste my food. And after about a half an hour of this (when I realized that they weren't going to stop any time soon), I gave up trying to eat and just got a doggy-bag and left. (They were playing something from ZZ Top when I left.) What a shame, because this should have been a great meal (and it was, when I got home. The leftovers were fabulous!).
MEMO TO THE BEACHFIRE'S OWNER: You have great food, excellent service, and a patio overlooking the ocean. YOU DON'T NEED LIVE MUSIC!! YOUR PATIO IS TOO SMALL FOR IT!!! (And you don't need it anyway, because you've got the OCEAN!!!!!!!!!) Trust me, that's what the majority of your customers want: a great meal, overlooking the ocean. (I'm also quite sure that they would rather LISTEN to the ocean, too, rather than to a bad band.) I know that that was all I wanted and if I had gotten it, you would have gotten a minimum of 4 stars from me (although I do have one more suggestion and here it is: the patio could use a little landscaping. Not much, just a little. Try planting some pink and blue hydrangea around the perimeter, because it will complement nicely with the sea grass--which, when I was there, looked a little scrubby). This place has tons of potential. I hope it lives up to it (because, otherwise, any food I get here from now on will be to go).
I went to Beachfire during that insane heatwave last week, and I found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. Â It's not easy trying to please a party of 11 people, and they really tried their best. Â The staff made sure that we had plenty of water to stay hydrated, and they were respectful of our gift-opening and ongoing requests. Â Mostly everyone ordered seafood dishes, but having had it the night before, I opted for a Garden Salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, onions, and black olives. Â I ordered medium-rare steak tips with my salad, and the waitress said that it was difficult for the chef to get the steak to be rare/medium-rare; so she warned me that it may return medium-well...*OH -.-* And they did arrive medium-well; but whatever, I was enjoying the restaurant because of my company and drinks. Â I wasn't amazed by this restaurant, but the atmosphere makes it a fun place to grab drinks with friends and enjoy the view.
Review Source:I saw this place on Phantom gourmet last summer and decided to check it out, got there around 3 only to find out they were closed to the public until 4, which was fine because we decided to go for a swim to killl some time. So we called the restaurant to confirm that they will be able to seat us right after 4, they said "yes, that would be no problem". 4' o'clock came and we packed up and headed over the the restaurant, we get there a little after four it's 90+ degrees out and we are waiting outside for them to open the doors... finally after waiting we went in, sat down inside , ordered our food after having a few words with the teenie bopper employees that were all clustered at the door twirling their hair. I ordered  my drink which was very weak! it was like there was nooo alcohol in my mojito at all, so I considered sending it back! as we are sitting waiting for our food and for the waitress to return I looked over at the bar and noticed the bartender licking her fingers at that point I was turned off not to mention the fruit flies! then I saw the bartender take the trash out, came back and didnt even wash her hands!!! then the food finally came but they only brought one plate so I had to sit their and wait for my meal to arrive, then when it finally came I started eating it but unfortunately we both did not finish our meal we were so disgusted at that point with the flies that kept flying in and out we decided to just pay and leave!  when we left we called to speak to a manager and one of the teenie boppers answered the phone and gave us a hard time when we asked to speak to the manager.... It's a shame because the food was really good, our server was great but everything else was horrible
Review Source:I have wanted to go to Beach Fire for a very long time.  I have heard about on TV, radio and read about it.  Sometimes when you hear so many wonderful rave reviews about a place you build it up in your mind.  That may have been  what happened to us.
The 2 star rating I gave it seems to me to be the average of the night in it's entirety. Â Different aspects deserve different reviews.
1) Â the atmosphere doesn't disappoint, Â it is magnificent, nestled high up in the rocks over looking the ocean. Â Flowers and citronella torches line the outdoor restaurant. There is fire pit next to the bar where they often have live music. Â There is nothing they could have done to make this more appealing for people who like to dine el fresco amongst the flowers and nature. For this 5 stars.
2) Â the main act, the meal. Â Every single meal was awful, items such as steamed clams came with all kinds of veggies and seasonings mixed in the broth. Â broiled seafood casserole, awful..loaded with red pepper and other seasons that no one in our party was interested in eating. on and on the the issues with plain old awful food. Â For this I Â would give 0 stars
3)  the service.  The poor waitress was saddled with having to tell all of her tables that the " Father's Day " special (twin lobster $16.00) had been sold out for over an hour..The waitress was then politely  told,  one by one of our awful meals. We of course spoke with the manager and she told us about the curse the place has and that they had already had several cooks leave this  season (only 3 weeks), that the problem is that the kitchen is very small for the size of the restaurant.  The waitress was trying as was the manager.  Since a couple of us were still quite hungry, we shared a burger which was very good.  The manager then comped our bill.  Because the manager ( who was probably 25 ) and the waitress handled the situation with class, I give the service 4 stars.  The waitress got herself an enormous tip.
Since the reason we went there in the first place was for dinner, we consider it a disaster as far as meals go.
With the fabulous view and location, I  hope someone is smart enough to come around and re-brand the place.  It seems like a unpolished diamond  just waiting for someone with a brain to take it on.
Oh goodness is the food slow to arrive but who cares? Â You are at a beautiful spot, watching the ocean with wonderful music and a firepit! Â When the food did arrive, the waiter was so kind and enthusiastic it was nothing to even think twice about. The kids are thrilled with the beach and crabs to be seen after the dinner and you can bring your dog on the back patio. Serious heaven here. Food was good drinks delicious, atmosphere unparalleled nothing at all to complain about.
Review Source:Waste of time & money.
Bad service-- my friend ordered a burger & they forgot it & then took 20+ min to bring it to her. Â Didn't even have the courtesy to take it off the menu. Hubby's fish platter was stringy & nasty. The only saving grace is the ambiance, however the tables are so dark you can barely see what you're eating. Highly doubt this place will last.
Love the patio
Love the fire pit
Love the view
service is usually slow
food is mediocre at best
locals joke is that this location is cursed because it has changed hands so many times in the last years.... I think they might be right.
management should get it together... has great potential
lobster roll is a joke. stringy nasty meat and filler. not fresh. you're 10 steps from the ocean.
go to the parrot.
I take my kids to Nantasket a lot and usually stop for take out at the Lobster Pound in Hingham. Last night we took a last-minute trip to the beach. The kids love to look for crabs at the rocks right by Beachfire and I have enjoyed listening to the acoustic sets in the past. Well, it was dinnertime and I was getting hungry smelling the grill and seafood being served up at the restaurant next to me. I ended up ordering takeout for me and the kids - two childrens meals ($5 each) and mozzarella sticks. It was ready in 15 minutes. The kids meals were great - real fish, real chicken and three good size pieces each with a drink. Fries were thin and tasty. They did screw up and not provide onion rings for one of the meals but overall for sitting on the beach it was inexpensive and better than any chain kids meals. I'd definitely order take out again while visiting the beach - and maybe like some other parents, take advantage of the outdoor bar deck and have drink while watching the kiddies below. Oh, and the live music creates I nice atmostphere. Head down around 4-5 in the afternoon to catch the music, sunset, and a seaside dinner.
Review Source:Had seen it on tv, and so we wanted to come by. Â First off, I was a little rude to the hostess because after going in, my wife and I stood at the entrance, only to have two couples walk past us and in, we were later told that if we wanted to eat outside, we could walk through the dining room, through the sliding doors to the right and up the stairs and someone would seat us.
Maybe there should be a sign notifying new customers?
Food, sorry, had better. Â The view was nice, and listening to Mark and Wendy (the band), was nice, it was only bad when they had a friend play some, the idiot got on and the first thing he did was curse (YO IDIOT!! Â There are families with kids in the place!!). Â Wifey said the potatoes tasted like they were instant, and my buffalo wings did not have the bite you would expect "hot" to have. Â DISAPPOINTED!
I gave two stars because of the gorgeous view of Nantasket beach this restaurant  provides. Â
Drinks were decent and the food was terrible. Â My friend got served her chicken sandwich on yellow bread (server told her is was white bread doused in butter). Â It was replaced by a stale hamburger roll. Fries were soggy and wraps were bland.
I suggest eat somewhere else before you go. Â Enjoy Beachfire only for a cocktail and a nice view.
Atmosphere: Fantastic!! You could be in St John or anywhere else and would not know you were in Hull.
Service: Waited an hour for a table but did not mind. Waitresses were very friendly and fun. Food arrived in a reasonable amount of time.
Food: probably a better place for burgers than entrees. We had shrimp, scallops and a steak, no one was pleased with their dishes.
When you take in the view and the music the food did not matter much. This time.
Went here for dinner after a day on the beach when the temps hit 100 degrees.  They had no (or very little) air conditioning.  We were going to tough it out and eat at the bar but the drinks sucked.  Ordered a  Stoli soda and a G&T and both had very little booze.  I had better drinks at an airport for Pete's sake.  Too bad because it's a great locale.  The owner needs to tell the bartenders to pour a damn drink!
Review Source:We also went after the Globe article. We went this past Tuesday night. We got seated outside right along the ocean. What a great view we had! The server was prompt, bringing drinks, getting refills. We ordered the twin lobster - super deal $14.99 for twin lobsters! I don't have one complaint the service was good, the location is great. I would expect the restaurant to be very busy considering the weather, the location and the recent article in the Globe. Â We had a great time and plan on coming back soon
Review Source:After reading a review in the Globe on Beachfire I decided to check this place out. We arrived close to 6:00 and were informed that it would be a 45 minute wait to be seated outside. Having two children under six with us we decided it would be best to grab a seat inside. The waitress was attentive an took out drink order quickly. After the waitress took our food order we proceeded to wait, wait, wait, and wait for our food. The most disturbing thin about our visit is that it took an hour from the time we order until we received our food. The restaurant was busy but an hour wait for for food is unacceptable under any circumstances. When we did get our food the twin lobsters were good and the kids dishes were as well. The prices we average. I really wanted to like this place but the wait for the food killed it for us.
Review Source:I must have come on the right day/at the right time because my experience at Beachfire was nothing like most of the reviews on here.
My family and I dined here on Thursday, July 14th for lunch. Â It obviously wasn't crowded being a weekday so we were seated outdoors immediately - we had our choice of any open table.
The waitress did look young as others have noted about the staff, however, she was prompt in coming over with silverware and taking our drink orders as soon as we sat down. Â The drinks came quickly and for the two of us that had cocktails, they tasted fine (not watered down).
The menu isn't overly expansive but I felt like the choices were good enough and the prices were fair. Â I had a garden salad with grilled chicken - I think it cost about $8, which was totally fair as usually a salad with meat added at other places is more around $10 or $12. Â Veggies tasted fresh and the low-fat raspberry dressing I had was delicious. Â My two family members got burgers and both said they were some of the best burgers they had ever had. Â The fries were average but they had sea salt on them and I found that to be a plus.
Nothing about the place really blew me away per se, but I would eat there again as everyone enjoyed themselves and it was easy on the wallet. I'm not sure I agree with the complaints on here about having to pay $7 to park because there is some 2-hour street parking around there that is free and it's not the restaurant's fault that the DCR/State of MA charge $7 in the beach lot next to the restaurant. Â I don't know if I would trust the info a parking attendant gave me regarding validation as those attendants are 16 year old kids working for the DCR, not the bar. Â Maybe they could offer a better validation rate to patrons but I think in that location a lot of their customers have probably already paid the $7 to park at the beach or are locals.
While I agree with others on the service not being so great (young waitstaff), I'll have to disagree on the quality of the food and the prices at least with regards to what we ordered. I won't spend any time nitpicking about our waiter because she at least put in a good effort. The thing I will mention is that it took us at least 40 min to get our food. Now onto the food, it was definitely worth the wait! We ordered the baked haddock and the clam bake (entire lobster and steamers). Both entrees were both only around 20 dollars! The food was absolutely delicious! So the bottom line is despite the long wait and not-so-good service, we would definitely go back for the food.
Review Source:I would say, overall, we had a mixed experience at Beachfire. Â We waited for a table - which was fine, and not surprising on a beautiful June evening. Â After we were seated, we waited probably 10 minutes without anyone coming to our table. Â In the hostesses defense, we did have drinks so she may not have realized. Â I went up and asked if we had a waitress. Â The hostess responded that they had someone (wait staff) walk out, but she would get someone over to us. Â A waitress came a few minutes later. Â She was very good and generally attentive throughout the meal.
Unfortunately, a couple of other issues... Â
We got our app and had no place settings. Â The bus person said they would get some. Â She came back a few minutes later with two plates (there were three of us) and nothing else, and remarked, "we can't find the place settings".... Â When the waitress came to check on us, we had her bring us some napkins. Â The place settings eventually showed up. Â
My initial reaction to the onion rings was that they were fabulous, and then my husband and I both noted an aftertaste... Â Speculation is that either the oil had not been changed in sometime, or they were frying onion rings in the same oil as the seafood. Â Whatever the reason, these thin, crisp - otherwise great onion rings, had an aftertaste. Â
Last issue - my salad showed up with our meal, with the wrong dressing, with no apology. Â At that point, I ate it and said nothing but was disappointed. Â
All this aside, the view is spectacular. Â Once we had a waitress, she was good. Â And we had a bus boy clear our table who was great. Â Our meals were decent. Â My clams had a bit of the same aftertaste as the onion rings, but the haddock was very good. Â My husband had a chicken sandwich which he said was very good. Â He also loved the fries.
We will go back. Â The view/atmosphere can't be beat on a nice, summer evening. Â I just hope they get someone managing the dining room that can help the kids working there better understand what they need to do and how to do what they need to do.
The 1-star is or the view which is great, as for the rest of the experience, well let me explain.
I ordered a cup of clam chowder and a Greek salad. Â Sounds simple right? Â The soup was loaded with chunks of partially cooked potatoes and virtually no clams, and tasted very bland. Â The Greek salad was an embarrassment and I cannot believe any restaurant would do something like this. Â The salad was basically field greens, and tossed with a dainty portion of crumbled feta cheese. Â That's it.. and it costs about $6. Â Field greens and feta for $6! Â
Talk about spotty service, I think we had three waiters. Â Drinks came on time but they forgot about our meal. Â One waiter asked if we had placed our order since he noticed that we were sitting there for quite some time. Â Dinner came very late for some reason I don't know why since it was just a bag of salad mix they served. Â Oh it took another few minutes to get us silverware, so I got to eat my soup cold. Â
Got some painful stomach cramps on the way home, something was off.
I try to only review places that impress me, but when I have an awful experience I feel the need to post.
My family went for a celebration lunch at this place on a Saturday at 1pm. It was a cold, gray day, but the view was still great. The restaurant wasn't crowded, a few people at the bar and some tables. We were by far the biggest party.
Appetizers were brought without plates. Waitress had no idea what was on the menu: types of cheese for a cheeseburger, what could be added to a salad, types of beer available. We ordered a round of drinks: 1 mojito (featured on their menu), a vodka tonic and 3 beers. It took over 20 minutes to get the drinks. I sat and watched my mojito sit on the bar, ice melting, while the moron waitress just stared into space. I guess it was the draft beers that took 20 minutes to assemble...even though the bartender was just chatting with customers.
Once the drinks came our party was already laughing at the ridiculous service. We had to ask for the appetizers plate and serving dishes to be cleared, and request more napkins. Then the waitress told my sister she could not add scallops to a salad, she could only order a dish with scallops, or add chicken or lobster to a salad. Talk about poor customer service.
When the food came, it was fine. Oh, later in the day there was a dead body found floating off Nantasket Beach, and I am astonished we didn't see it bobbing by while eating lunch. It would have been too apropos.
But the worst part of the story is that days later, one of our party realized they charged his credit card for both the portion of the bill he covered ($50) and also THE ENTIRE BILL ($180). While also charging others for their portion of the bill.
I say stay away. Or go at night for drinks only, but bring a flask.
View from the Bar:
Beachfire points out one of the great things about Boston: 30 minutes from downtown, you can be perched on a bar stool in front of a huge firepit, singing along  to live music, eating oysters, sipping a great beer, watching the surf-casters and gazing over the Atlantic as the sun goes down. That's a powerful combination of good things.
Really not much to complain about and lots to recommend. Sure the staff is young, but they're energetic and helpful. The oysters were damn-near perfect (served with lemon, mignonette sauce, horseradish and Tabasco) Â crabcakes were tasty too. Â As the sun went down the staff rigged a projector onto a pylon and showed the game on the rockface of the cliff that borders the patio - pretty cool innovation! I didn't have a full dinner but what I saw being served looked very good and everyone seemed to be having a good time.
Outside view is amazing as everyone has mentioned but yes there are kinks to be worked out with staff and service.  The staff is very young and they probably do need to be trained more.  I was quite impressed with the food, although as someone else mentioned it was not as hot as it should have been but it was excellent.  We got buffalo chicken wings for an appetizer and they were awesome. They make their own blue cheese dipping sauce.  I got scallops with risotto, my nephew got salmon with pesto and another one ordered a  haddock sandwich.  I would absolutely go here again but it's got to be a nice day b/c it's all about the outside which is beautiful.  There's a bar outside with chairs and tall bar tables next to the bar and then there are tables right on the edge of the rock overlooking the water.  Quite impressive.  Just make sure you train your staff better b/c you don't want to lose any customers b/c a 23 year old doesn't know how to be a good waiter.
Review Source:The one star review is for the view only. Â Took my mom and son for lunch and thought it was very dirty, flies everywhere on inside of the windows overlooking the beach/
We had to pay $7.00 to park in the parking lot and we were told the manager would validate it - after asking our waitress several times to PLEASE validate it she did for $3.50! Â Then some other person, possibly the asst. manager comes out and tells us that the parking lot attendants gave us false information - what a JOKE!
My mom was horrified at the number of flies in the place.....eewww!
The burgers are the best in Hull. Â cooked to perfections and on a fresh bun. Â the calamari is lightly battered and comes with a delicious sweet and spicy dipping sauce. Â the Mixed drinks are tasty and so many options. Â You must save room for the dessert ice cream sandwich. Â the homemade cookies sandwiching vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate sauce is to die for. Â No better place to have a fantastic meal along the beach.
Review Source:Talk about gorgeous spots, this is it! Â The back patio of this restaurant overlooks the beach in Hull. Â You gaze out to sea and you feel that all is well. It is a wow factor view to be sure.
I heard about this place from savvy Yelper Andrea T. and she was so right about this spot.  It is really lovely.  We went for  a casual lunch and were taken in  by the view and the gorgeous craggy rock wall behind us. You could think for a moment you were in some small island outdoor caffe off the coast of Italy.  It was beyond relaxing to sit outside and take in the view and the breeze on what was otherwise a hot day.
The sorry note for me was my meal though :-(  I ordered the fish and chips and while I am not certain because I didn't ask, I would swear the fish had been previously frozen and was not fresh.  It had that weird previously frozen texture and while not all frozen fish has to be bad I suppose, this was just not good fish.  Not so great seafood at the beach doesn't make sense and using frozen fish here in New England is a no-no. However the place has just opened and in fact they were still working on a couple of things on the patio while we were there (unobtrusively), so I will give them more time to get it all together.  Other things on the menu include several appetizers, a few salads and burgers and some other seafood choices. For you meat eaters, the burgers did look huge and good.  I saw that the table next to ours had ordered them and were tucking into them with gusto.  The staff was all very friendly .  We liked the casual, not fussy vibe here. No one rushed us and we really could have sat there all afternoon with our beers.  We had Sean as our wait person who was a lot of fun.  This same place used to be a French restaurant called Calypso and then was a place called The Ocean Club (I think that was the name).  With the view this place has along with the outdoor patio, I'm not sure why it's turned over so many times and nothing seems to stay for long.  Next time I go, and there will be another visit,  I will l take Andrea T.'s advice and go for a glass of wine and an appetizer instead of a meal on one of the remaining gorgeous summer evenings we've been having. Meanwhile,  I hope  the restaurant  works on its menu, steps it up a couple of notches and creates the kind of food that will make this place last..  Two stars for my food and an extra star for the view, the staff, and the comfortable, casual ambience.
This place is actually ON the beach and the patio is built into the side of a cliff ...It was zoned in like a million years ago......I liked the staff...I liked my appetizer...I liked my wine..This is a casual place...Great outdoor patio area with sunset views and a cool ocean breeze...For me, this will be a place to have a glass of wine with friends...on a casual night..
