I came for live music on Friday evening. Needs to make reservation to be safe. Entrance fee was $10 pp. Small but very friendly atmosphere. Menus are limited with soup and sandwich, but they serve sangria and wines. Small Pitcher of sangria was $22 but it was tasty. I ordered fresh fruit crepes which was very dry and rough. I felt like I was chewing dry felt. I needed serious knife work to cut the crepes.
Live music was worth to wait and very much enjoyed. Well named musician comes to share their passion about music which is great opportunity for us but I got disappointed with foods.

Stopped by again on a Sunday morning with the family in tow. The coffee was hot and delicious and served in a GIANT mug. The staff was friendly though I do kind of understand where others are coming from, I mean those who are negative on the service.

The food was better than your average diner food at a reasonable price.

The place is well maintained, clean and neat. Reliable, fast, free wireless access is also a plus.

The owner is a great guy and the food is good and the entertainment is varied and excellent, also the help is friendly and helpful.
Although I am not really a coffee drinker my sister kept going there and said it was great.
I went there last week to the I have a Dream speech for MLK's Bday it was a great idea and excellent.
Peekskill is a great little town, we should give the Bean Runner and the town all the support we can.

Lovely little place for Coffee and a nice venue for artists to come play at, the food however is another story. The orders came out sporadically and the food was a bit sub-par apart from a fluffy Belgian Waffle. When I asked for a jelly or fruit topping for my waffle they went in back where I saw the Woman grab a smuckers jar and proceed to place a small bit in a plastic tub for me. Thanks... Coffee over Food here.

well this is my second review of the bean runner. as i said in my first one the only reason i would return is if i had no other choice. my wife loves this place so she wanted to go with myself and 3 friends. we walk in on sundat about 11am the place is very quite about 3 other people. we sit down the 5 of us and order after waiting about 10 min. well we all pretty much ordered the 2 eggs and bacon and toast. not to hard or so i thought. it took these people 45 min to start bringing out our orders. they were brought out one at a time 2 at best over the next 15 min. the first served were finished before the last person was served. the bathromms were a mess they were just plain dirty. my wife used the lasies room and said the same. what a disgrace this place has become. if the bathroom is a mess i can only wonder what the kitchen is like. what we planned to be maybe a 45 min meal turnes into about 90 min. what a waste of our morning and time. i will never go back to this place unless i have no other choice and will tell anyone who ask how i feel about it. look the food in pretty much ok and is priced more then fair but you have to do the little things that make you want to come back. train your staff to be quick and to get the orders right and keep the place CLEAN....CLEAN THE DAMM BATHROOMS. if i wanted to use a dirty bathroom i can use the subway which by the way are cleaner then the bean runner. get with it guys you have a nice space in a good location and people want to like you dont mess up.

Nice place to stop for lunch near the Taconic State Parkway. We dropped in around 2 on a Tuesday and had soups and sandwiches with a glass of French Chardonnay. It's tough to find Manhattan Clam chowder in CA, so when I saw it as a special, I had to get it. Service was friendly and relaxed.

First of all, I don't consider Bean Runner to be a coffee shop like Peekskill Coffee House so people shouldn't compare the two.  The breakfast is good, simple and cheap, and their soups and sandwiches are great.  Their soup is especially excellent.  The restaurant is spotless and  very inviting.

Although I have been to Bean Runner at least a dozen of times I still don't know what it is.  It seems to want to be a coffee shop, sandwich shop, child care center, art house, and jazz club all at the same time.  Truthfully, I have a difficult time getting comfortable there.  We usually just eat fast and leave which is probably why we only go there once every month or two.

The owners have obviously done a great job creating the space and the food they offer is quite good.  However, I think if they concentrated on 1 thing they could provide a much better experience.

By the way, when I go to Bean Runner for breakfast I usually go to Peekskill Coffee right afterwards.

BTW, owners/employees who write gushing, defensive, or advertisement-like reviews should note that it's against Yelp policy...just to let you all know.

You step inside Bean Runner to be "greeted" by staff who appear to be on Xanax and can't be bothered acknowleding you.  Skimpy dessert menu and so-so coffee.  I'll go back to Peekskill Coffee any day over this place.

I am tired of coming across establishments that can't seem to figure out who they are trying to cater to. Are you a restaurant? A coffee spot? Reservations? I have to pay to come in if there's live music playing? No, no and no.  My one and only experience here was simply god-awful.

Their sandwiches aren't the most creative out there, but the food is good and their soups are delicious.  They have a vegetable soup with a ton of different veggies all in it which is really flavorful and perfect on a chilly day. I wouldn't go out of my way to dine there, but if I'm in town and I want something more substantial than a pastry from a coffee shop, I swing by the Bean Runner Cafe.

Good coffee.  Good desserts.  Its a nice change from Starbucks every once in a while!  And you can actually order sandwiches, soups, and salads.  I had chicken noodle soup and a salad which was delicious.  It's a nice spot to go with friends.

The Bean Runner differs from its Peekskill Coffee House competitor in that in addition to serving coffee, pastries, and cake, they also serve soups, salads, and sandwiches. I've had the coffee at both the Bean Runner and the Peekskill Coffee House and I find the coffee (and variety of coffee served as well) to be much better and tastier at TPCH. I've also tried the cookies and cake a few times at Bean Runner and I didn't think they were good - the desserts taste heavily processed or like they're the frozen variety.

I must say though, that the service at the Bean Runner is consistently friendly and that when you order food, they will gladly bring it out to your table (and I've gone with quite a large group before, so I really appreciate this). The soups, salads, and sandwiches are reasonably priced. I'll normally get a salad and always find it satisfying.

As for atmosphere, the Bean Runner has always been on the quiet side when I've gone in, so it's a good place to carry on a conversation. The decorations are a little sparse, and there are 2 big armchairs in back. There's something about the coffee-house vibe that's missing, but I think that the place is well-maintained.

We went to the Bean Runner this afternoon with friends (a couple) who live in Peekskill, and we really liked it!  The building is ca. 1850 and the owners did a *terrific* job of restoring it.  The interior has exposed brick (original to the building), it's a good size, and it's quite attractive & comfortable.  There's also a nice-sized patio, plus they have a large & brightly-colored (separate) children's area (I wish some other places had that....).  The woman working there was very pleasant - and the owner stopped by at one point & we enjoyed meeting her.  Our friends said there's sometimes jazz music at the Bean Runner.  My husband & I had delicious iced coffee - but if we hadn't just eaten a big lunch, we would have loved to try some of their delicious-looking soups and/or desserts.
