I've been here twice before and have had good service and good drinks both times. Carla (beer guru) was very knowledgeable in helping me pick out drinks. I love beer but know very little when it comes down to picking out something new and she  We had the Rye on Rye which was deeelish. Will be coming back again soon.

40 beers on tap and another 550+ in bottles!  If you can't find a beer that you like here, you should just stay home!  There is no food here, but several local restaurants deliver to The Beer Market for free, so you can get a variety of food with your brew.  This place gets busy at night, so you might need to wait and hawk for a table (it's first-come, first-served) if you show up at a busy time.  Overall, a great place to go for some good (take-out/in) food and great beer.

Went here with a friend a couple of weeks ago after work, so yes it was a bit crowded. I think its awesome that you can bring in your own food while drinking there.I love the concept and all the cider and beer selections but I only got to have one cider because our waitress never came back to us. May give it a try again, maybe at a different time.

Went there with friends for St. Patrick's day.  Place was packed. I thought I was transported to the city.  Belgian beer selection was off the charts. My buddy read the menu like it was some sci-fi novel. No food but they allow you to order from the restaurants next door and they deliver it right to your table. Seriously?  Yes, awesome.  They have a cool stage upstairs where live bands play.  Nice use of space. Wait staff is very knowledgeable about the beer selection.

A large selection of craft beer and live music at an inexpensive price. What more can a man ask for?

Oh yeah, great staff and great location. Keep up the beast service and great selection of beer.

I've gone here twice. Once with my wife and parents and the other time with some friends. BOTH times I looked over the expansive menu and ordered a multitude of belgium ales only to find out after the waitress went to go get my beers that they didn't have them. Why would I want to come back here, take my time to order a specific beer that is listed on their menu only to find out that they don't have it? Without exaggeration, I tried to order 12 different beers in my two visits, and they only had 3 of them. Absolutely WORTHLESS PLACE!!!

About 500 different beers with 40 on tap, great bring your own food idea the deli and the BBQ place are awesome, the wait staff is great and has obviously had great training from some sort of beer guru if you will, I used to go in on Sunday mornings a lot for football but then the regular morning bartender left and so did I... I still come in Friday nights that's the best night to get the newest beers on draft

With the meteoric rise of craft beer popularity, a place like this really has the opportunity to take advantage of the craft brew fanatics. You can choose from about 300 different beers with 30 on draft.

I have been there several times, and my experience has been dramatically different each time. The 1st time was early afternoon on a Saturday in spring. The place was basically empty. They had the doors open to the patio, so we sat out there. The wait staff was very knowledgable.

The 2nd time was a Friday night after work. This place was packed. Standing room only, and it was too cold to be out on the patio. I stood behind the people sitting at the bar and ordered my beer. I had one beer and left to get away from the frat guys ordering Amstel light.

The 3rd time was a Saturday night. There was a pretty good crowd, but my group was able to get a table. Wait staff is pretty good, but I still prefer going to the bar to order my drinks.

I would recommend this place to anyone who really enjoys trying new beers. While some beers are expensive; it isn't due to overpricing, but rather due to the quality of the beers. The only down side is that they do not offer food, but you can order in from any of the local restaurants.

I wish they were able to sell mixed six-packs directly to the customers.

1st time visitor upon walking in, very noisy, i.e. have to step out to make a phone call type noisy. Live music up top. Random seating everywhere, find a spot. You sit and think to yourself that you will never get served unless you sit at the bar, but to the wait staffs credit, they appear out of no where and take care of you. Cool factor, you can order food to be delivered to you, yet never leave your beer. Yes they actually find you in the beer market and deliver your food to you. Additional kudos given for the draft menu. The draft menu does a great job of telling you what, where, size, cost, etc. EXACTLY the type of questions that you normally have to dig out of wait staff.
The draft menu I might also mention takes up two entire pages. There is a beer bible, but I never made it past the taps.
My wife took advantage of the beer flight to try several different beer types. While the flight is not as good a deal as getting a full beer, the presentation, foo foo factor and the variety make certain people VERY happy.
There is no food here, I repeat no food offered here. For any type of food you have to order it in, which is encouraged.
Ask your wait staff about a beer and chances are, they will know.

My buddy and I wanted some good food and good beer like we always do when we go out, which is rare, and he told me about this spot. We went to watch the NFL Conf Championship games here and got there about an hour before the games started, and let me tell you, Im glad we did. There beer bible is ridonkulous, in a great way and the beer selection is incredible. Whats great about it is they have the categorized so its easy to make decisions if you know which route you want to go (stout, amber, IPA). I went to stout direction and every beer I had, I loved. My last beer was a special favorite, what I like to call my dessert beer, and was the Youngs Double Choc Stout, with the Banana Bread ale, and tasted exactly like what it was called, A chocolate covered banana. Incredible. Another thing I loved was that they didnt serve food, but had a book of menu's from places right next door to have delivered or to be picked up. Real Urban BBQ was our choice, and that was also a great choice. Definately will be visiting again because its a great place especially if you LOVE craft beers.

Wide selection of beers from tap and bottle
    Prices are decent
Every restaurant around delivers as this place has no food
Need heater lamps for winter so people can sit outside with fire pits like in the summer

Fun ambience and huge beer selection, as the name would suggest. Unfortunately, they ran out of some Hard Ciders. Smart move by the bar to bring in menus and food delivery from the surrounding restaurants. The beer is reasonably priced. Interesting mix of a crowd at least at happy hour on Wednesday night. Wish my work was a little closer or my house, much better if I could walk home after a night out :)

Their seasonal (and draft) beer may be out, but they have A LOT of beer to compensate. They don't know how much of their seasonal beer to order because they won't know how popular it will be until they sell out. But there is no need to worry, their waitresses and bartenders are pretty knowledgeable when it comes to the variety of beers, so they can tell you which will taste similar to those you have missed out on.

The description of beers throughout their catalogue is pretty extensive and can be rather overwhelming. Seriously, a catalogue of beer (and some wines). Again, I encourage you to ask the wait-staff.

Speaking of wait-staff, they are all very friendly; however, once the place starts to get busy (around 7, or so, on the weekends) it may take a while for you to get waited on. Need not be alarmed, you can ask ANY of the waitresses for something and they will be more than happy to get it to you.

You can also ask for samples of a beer if you aren't feeling adventurous (and to save yourself from getting a disappointing beer).

They do not serve food, but you can ask for a menu and order food from within the area directly to the Beer Market. Quite nifty actually.

They have also started to have bands play at night. To me, this is the biggest downfall. The bands are too loud (on top of all the chatter) and rather annoying. Trying to yell at your friends is tiresome and just adds to the noise level. It was/is better when they have the music quietly playing over the speakers from Pandora (or whatever they use).

This is a pretty chill place; rather intimate setting with dark lights, outside seating, fire pits and torch-lamps.

This is the best thing to come to Vernon Hills/Lincolnshire since Flatlanders. They have hundreds of beer on tap, aaaand the right beer glass to go with each beer. There were a few things they ran out of, but I would rather have them run out frequently than to stock old beer. The servers know what they are talking about, so if you don't feel like looking through the menu, just describe what kind of beer you like to drink and they will find something for you.

The coolest part of this place is their BYO-Food concept. There are 10 restaurants directly nearby Beer Market, so if you don't feel like paying the delivery cost, just pick up food and then walk into Beer Market. I tried Tom and Eddie's next door, which was pretty good if you are into Burgers.

I don't always drink beer, but when I do, I prefer Belgian ales brewed by Trappist monks.  The Beer Market is an excellent concept - the waitress is so knowledgeable about all the stuff they have on tap and can make some good recommendations from their bottle beer list.  The tap beer list is impressive enough on it's own - you'd be hard pressed to find a lineup this good out here in the 'burbs.  They had some really excellent Belgian stuff on tap and I am not kidding about Trappist beer - I reeeeeeeally like it - a lot.  Did I mention this place opens at noon?  We had a tiny lunch on the way in because we weren't sure what the food situation was.  There's a mess of places within walking distance that you can carryout and that also deliver - don't worry about the food situation.  My posse met me at noon and we proceeded to get sloppy watching the college football and occasionally getting our BBQ on from the place a few doors down.  Then, I'm ashamed I got a little buck-wild and irresponsible with their bottled beer list.  I was ordering stuff I'm usually too afraid to buy at the store.  I asked for Rochefort 10 and the waitress came back and said "sorry, we don't have the 10 but we have the 8 and 9" and I started fumbling with the menu and in my borderline inebriated state was a little like "duuuhhhh... ok - let me see... bring me the Rochefort 9 - that's fine" and she came back to pour my beer - but I couldn't see the bottle label and something didn't sit quite well with me.  So I checked the menu and it took me like almost 10 minutes to realize "WAITAMINUTE - there ain't no Rochefort 9!"  So I'm pretty sure I got the Rochefort 8 - and then when the tab came at the end of the night, guess what it said?  Yep - Rochefort 8.  Shame on you waitress (and shame on me too).  I can't stay mad at you, though... you were nice and didn't hassle us for being rowdy.

Also - the outdoor seating was an nice touch.

What a great place! I'm a huge craft beer drinker and when my boss told me of the Beer Market I had to check it out. This place has a HUGE craft selection. Though the Beer Market is not the typical bar and grill that we are all used to. There is no kitchen which means they can focus 100% on providing a great craft beer pour house experience. And you're asking yourself, but what if I'm hungry? Have no fear! You can bring your own food! The idea of b.y.o.f. is pretty new to me, but The Beer Market helps those scared/new to it. They have a system worked out with surrounding restaurants. Basically the Beer Market has a bunch of menus of these restaurants and you can phone in your phone order to them. The order will then be delivered right to your table without you having to move an inch. I found this be awesome! I hope to visit this place soon!

Stumbled upon last night, love beer, so a place called The Beer Market sounds great, right?

Unfortunately, disappointed by the service...slow and not really helpful.  With such an expansive beer selection, a frosted glass would have been welcomed.  TVs could have been better, loud college football fan who kept screaming was annoying, which didn't help situation.  Did not like no food in-house concept, wound up leaving to get a sit down dinner with table service elsewhere.

Obviously there is clientele that enjoy this place, hence the high rating, but just not a place for me.

Okay.  This is the best selection of beer that I've ever seen.  Anywhere.  Period.

Craft, European, Domestic, Cans, Bottles, Draft, Large Format, Ciders, Smallbeers, etc.  They literally have every sort of brewed fermented beer like substance known to man here.

This place needs to be in Chicago NOW.  Actually, I'm glad it's suburban, because it is totally a landmark place.  I actually would travel here to casually sip a few beers on a random night.

It's nice, it's clean, it's not far off the expressway, there are restaurants around it that can bring food right over.  It does get packed.  They are not good about limiting the crowd.  The patio is nice, even in the winter---fire and propane heaters provided.

Would go again.  WILL go again.

I was really excited when I found out that there's a  craft beer specialty bar not far away from where I live. I came here with a friend of mine the day before thanksgiving this year, black friday I guess? The bar is located within a strip mall-It's pretty easy to spot when driving down the road. The location itself isn't  very big. There's an indoor seating area and an outdoor seating area. The outdoor area has about 3 bonfires around a sea of chairs and tables where patrons can get their burr on while getting nice and toasty. I understand that I went to a bar on one of the busiest bar day, but holy shit, when I walked in I felt like I was trying to get aboard a safety boat on the sinking titanic-there were people everywhere! A sardine can doesn't even give this description justice-and the poor servers darting around left and right-PURE MADNESS. My friend and I decided to sit outside by the bonfire. We waited around 5-7 minutes before someone came to greet us. The beer list was huge. Like to the point where I would call this the mecca of craft beer, and my pilgrimage to the "hoppy" land has been complete. I really wanted to get my hands on some left hand 400 lb monkey but they ran out. Then I wanted to get some left hand milk stout buuuut they ran out. PRO TIP: If you come here on a busy night, have 2-3 beers prepared that you'd want to order because they run out pretty quickly especially the later it gets. I'd have needed a long bath and champagne to truly take in that menu so I didn't want to waste our servers time and asked her to get me whatever IPA she thought was delicious. When she brought it back, I seriously don't remember what it was called, but it was tasty. Very hoppy-definitely what I wanted to drink. The other beer I ordered was an imperial stout-seriously don't remember the brand name haha sorry! Butttt it was very delicious as well. Overall this place is great and I think the northwest suburbs could really use more awesome bars like this. I will definitely come back here only on less busy nights.

I love the concept of this place, and was incredibly excited to see it pop up in this up and coming area. Unfortunately, with the high prices, and slightly surly waitress, this quickly became an uncomfortable environment for my friends and I.

I'm sure that you already know this, but they don't serve any food at all, but are more than happy if you bring your own or even have it delivered! How fun. So my group and I grabbed a bunch of BBQ from Real Urban BBQ (see my disappointed review for that as well) and decided to claim some tables to imbibe in some hard to find beers.

If you are looking for a new type of beer to try, they do offer flights, and have a lot of varieties and hard to find brands available - as well as old favorites. If you're looking for that "shocking good value" then you should not come here. If you are looking for a bunch of new ales to try, and are willing to pay for the convenience, then this is the place for you.

I think the next time that I come here we will probably get two flights, and share them all - and have a pizza delivered. I'll let you know how it goes - wish me luck.

This is a an excellent place. They have an excellent selection of beer (probably into the hundreds)...hence the name Beer Market. Service is a little slow like others have mentioned but the prices are pretty reasonable and was pretty much worth the wait. Beer Market does not serve food BUT has a BYO-FOOD concept! You can bring or have food deliver to the place. Pretty great concept. The place gets pretty busy on weekends and can get a little loud but not to the point where you have to shout out to have a conversation. Your typical crowd ranges from 21-40's.. All in all, this is a great place to drink and hang out with a group of friends during the weekend. Great BYOF concept, beer selection, and atmosphere.... The only thing I would say is that it's just a bad place for an alcoholic to go to.....

So...they have beer and a lot of it.

The biggest surprise were the reasonable prices on their brews.
In reality, this place should earn 2 or 3 stars because of it's small size and, initially, terribly-slow service.

But after we waited 15 minutes for a server (that we flagged down), everything was tasty and smooth.

The concept of BYO-food is awesome.
They provide menus and the food service was fast.

There are just enough TVs to be entertained but not enough to overwhelm you.
And the live music wasn't overwhelming and it felt nice to hear forgotten 90s jams (I'm looking at you, Dishwalla).

It's worth checking out, especially if you like beer.
And by beer I mean micro-brews, primarily.
This isn't a place to go if your beer of choice is Coors or Bud Light.

When a friend said it's a beer bar, I knew I had to check it out.  This place has a ton of potential and I think the longer they are open, the better they will get.  If you happen to stop in when the weather is warm, they have a fantastic patio to enjoy, although there are high winds out of the south, you may get sprayed by the fountain.  The inside is very chic and masculine and the bar top is a very cool stone surface.

On to the beer.  Their list is pretty well represented in style, country of origin, and seasonal brews.  Lots of drafts and a very cool bottle display which groups beers by country in their giant glass-door fridges.  The bartenders I encountered were cool and quick, but the beer knowledge wasn't quite up to snuff.  After a few brews, I asked for a recommendation of something hop-forward and the guy suggested a weissbier.  Not quite what I was looking for, but I think a little more education would go a long way with the clientele this place will attract.

Overall a good spot for happy hour.  No food menu, but the joints nearby will deliver to the Beer Market, so you're set on grub too.

Great beer selection and prices are about what you would expect for what you might call a high-end craft beer establishment. Despite the place being packed, they could do so much better.

The seating arrangement/tables are really poorly designed, so much so that when they end up closing the patio as it gets colder now, I have to think they're going to lose business or you're going to feel like a sardine. It's not a huge place. So much wasted space with massive tables. They could easily add a third more customers comfortably by scrapping those monstrosities. Service was so-so. The waitresses were running around like chicken's with their heads cut-off and had to ask twice to get the beer menu and three times for a food menu. The seating diagram could be improved as well for ordering your food. Even the waitress had a hard time telling us which section we were in.

And the music is so unnecessarily LOUD. Plan to walk outside to order food (good luck in the freezing cold). I love good music loud, but when you can't hold a conversation and even the wait staff have to lean into you to hear each other, that's a sign owners - turn the s**t down! Live band - meh. Don't try to be a club. A live band isn't the draw, it's the beer. Oh, and parking on a weekend night - good luck.

Will give it another try soon just for the beer, but right now won't go out of my way to go there or recommend it.

One of the most enjoyable evenings ever!

If the weather suits you, grab a seat outside near the fire pit. We were lucky to snag the last couch, and to me, it was the best seat in the house.  There was live music the night we visited and had we sat inside, it would have made conversation a little hard, but outside, my good friend and I could still enjoy the music and not have to shout to talk to each other.

Yes, the beer list is gigantic. So many different craft beers to choose from--It's almost overwhelming. I won't call it a beer menu, but a beer catalog. There's a rotating list of brew on tap as well as bottle offerings.  I tried a seasonal pumpkin beer, some of the mixed beer offerings (Hard Cider with Framboise and the other, a Belgian Wheat/Blueberry beer/Framboise mix) and the Banana bread beer.  All were great choices. And I wish I remember our server's name because I really need to give her a shout-out. She was uber friendly and so helpful.  She was very knowledgeable about the beers and even gave us a taster of the beer first to ensure we'd like it.   It really shocks me to hear that some folks have had bad service.  I visited on a Saturday night; the place was crowded and I didn't feel our service suffered at all.

I also love how we can order food from the restaurants in the area. We opted for the meatball app and crab cake app from Philly G's and some BBQ nachos from Real Urban BBQ.  Just call them up (number is on the menu) and let them know what section you're seated in.  The food came quickly, arrived hot and the folks that brought the food were really friendly too.  Other choices were Tom & Eddies, a sushi joint, Roti Mediterranean Grill and a local Pizza joint.

I can't wait to come back!

This place is a perfect mix of beer-nerd emporium and good time bar.  I tend towards the former initially but tend towards the latter as the evening wears on.

The on-tap selection was excellent when I went (Lagunitas Fusion X on tap!!) and their bottle list is comprehensive.  Also, the beer has obviously been carefully handled and none of the bottles or drafts we enjoyed were light-struck or skunked.  Drafts tasted fresh and the lines had recently been cleaned.  They are serious about their beer.

Also, special praise to our waitress Jessica.  Super friendly, knew her beer and had an unbelievable memory.  Prices are very reasonable for the type of beer they are specializing in.

As a last note, they don't have any food, but there's plenty of (good) restaurants right next door who will deliver to you at your table in The Beer Market.  What a great concept!  Sit down, order a beer and then the guy from Tom n' Eddy's brings you a burger!

Demerits?  It's very loud.  Very, very loud indeed.  That's about it.

Lots of beverages to choose from! I'm a fan of ciders and they had a great selection. We had a small party held there and the staff was wonderful in helping set it up. Reservations of an "area" were no problem. A wonderful evening. Beer Market has an interesting concept in that you can order or bring in whatever food you like - even from home. Very nice for a thrify person looking for a place to hang out and not spend a ton.

Like everybody else pretty much my only complaint is the service once we got seated  it took us about 15 min to get our first beer, they either need a better way of seating customers or the waitresses are really slow. The beer selection was great though. Also could have done without the live band really hard to have a conversation.

This place is the perfect spot to come for a casual beer after work or on a nice evening. As others have mentioned, the patio is great and the beer selection is massive. I've enjoyed sampling so many different styles of beer in one place. They have so many micro brew offerings and I love a business that helps promote other small businesses. One of my favs from a local brewery is "Not your daddy's root beer" which is pretty hard to find outside of Wakonda where it's made.

The concept of reverse BYOB and instead BYOF is interesting and it certainly works at this location because of the many food offerings close by.

My one sticking point with it is the slow service. I wonder if the waitresses have larger sections that they serve compared to a traditional bar that serves food, which might explain the slow service both times I've been there? One would think that because they are just serving drinks without the added responsibility of food on their mind, that the service would be better. And this is coming from somebody who has served her time as a waitress in a bar atmosphere. However, it's not bad enough to deter me from going there again, just enough to notice, be a little annoyed, and mention.

I decided to write this review after my third visit to The Beer Market. It is an interesting concept for the suburbs, serving high end craft beer without food. The lack of food is mitigated by the proximity of  Tom & Eddies, and a local pizza shop. I enjoyed the beer selections and the outdoor patio ambiance, however, on each visit the service was very poor. I may return...but I'm in no hurry to do so.

I used to have an apartment in the building on this corner.  Back then, it was just Philly G's, Starbucks, and Roti...now The Beer Market is there, 8 Piece, Tom & Eddie's, a deli is coming soon....damnit!!

There is a huge patio to have a seat and choose from the hundreds of beers available.  It seemed like a place early 20's "I'm still in my college phase" and mid 50's "Affliction is a brand the young crowd is wearing these days, right son?" people can mingle together.  I fall in neither category, but I do enjoy a cold beer on a hot summer night like those people.

I wouldn't mind getting some carry out from ChiliU up the street in Libertyville and bringing it here.  So, what's stopping me?  Well for one, I'm laying in bed writing this review in my underwear.  And two, I'm not real hungry right now.  Eh screw it...

Okay I really had to update my review because it feels like Beer Market has turned things around!  I went here last weekend and while I was there I had a little chat with the owners who were super friendly and really wanted to hear what I had to say about Beer Market.  They had read my previous review and were shocked to hear that a server would not know the answer to a question since they go through 2 weeks of Beer School.  I have been back twice since my last review and both of the servers were much better!  They also had everything I ordered in stock and live music both nights... yay!  The service could be a little bit better still, that is why I am giving it four stars instead of 5.

The selection is fantastic here.  I do not drink beer and when I go to a craft beer place I am usually left with a glass of water since there are no alternatives.  However, Beer Market has Lambics, Ciders and wine for people like me!  I even have .:.GASP.:. OPTIONS!  One of my favorites is the Rasperry Cider which is Frambois and Cider... but I also enjoy both of these seperately.  They use to Angry Orchard Apple Cider on tap which is actually one of my favorites.  As a special education teacher with a ton of students who have gluten intolerance, I really appreciate that they have a section for Gluten Free Beers.  I did not even know that this existed and it makes me happy that Beer Market takes dietary restrictions into consitieration.  My students will be 21 someday and should not have to be excluded!

However, a part of me feels like I should give them 5 stars after what happened last night.  My friend bought a new Civic Hybrid and was super excited to drive it.  But when we came out from Beer Market, the car would not start.  Since I did not have jumper cables or know how to use them and neither did any of the guys in the parking lot, I ran into Beer Market and asked one of the girls if they could ask a male staff if they had jumper cables.  The server yelled to a guy behind the bar and he was totally willing to help us out!  Within minutes he was outside with us and ready to hook up his car to ours!  He seriously spent almost an hour trying to jump start the car... which is apparently more difficult on a hybrid.  By then a group of guys had gathered and they were all trying to help and offer suggestions to no avail.  They made sure we were able to get home... which we were since my car was there too.  The next morning when she tried to start the car it worked perfectly.  Apparently the hybrid needed a charge after being on the lot... go figure.

Thank you to Beer Market for trying to help us every way possible!

my favorite things about this bar:
    huuuuge beer selection
patio with cushioned seating & fire pits right next to a pond with a fountain
    mixed beer drinks
they allow you to order food from outside places & have it delivered to your table!

The reason I gave four stars instead of five is because it took our waitress over 15 minutes to bring my boyfriend his beer and he said my friend was served her beer first even though she arrived and ordered after he did. Another person in our group also had to wait awhile for her drink. Also, right before we left, my friend thought our waitress made a comment in a rude tone of voice, but my boyfriend and I didn't think she meant any harm. Maybe because I was so caught up in viewing the beer menu and chatting with friends, I didn't notice our waitress's mistakes; I thought she was pretty friendly.

The place is pretty spacious with high ceilings. My friend pointed out a balcony above the bar where a band played the last time she was there. I hadn't noticed it before she pointed it out, but I thought it was a really cool idea!

We plan on returning and sitting outside on the patio; it seemed to be full the night we went (Saturday). I also would like to take advantage of ordering food and having it delivered to us. They have a laminated menu book of local restaurants in the area, but I'm not sure if customers are limited to ordering from just those places.

The beer selection is out of the world, for a Chicagoland (suburb) bar. The bar opens up to a  nice patio with fire pits! On a nice night it's awesome to come here and enjoy a beer. But enjoying ONE beer is about all you're going to be able to do if you don't want to be there for more than 2 hours. I would give this place more stars but the service is SO SLOW that I had to drop it a star. I will literally sit for 10 minutes before even being greeted, then another 10 to have the drink brought to me and once it's empty it will probably sit there for a while until I waved a server down.

I also only give it 3 stars because there is NO FOOD. They have made up for the lack of food by allowing outside food to be brought in or delivered, however that's just a whole other hassle, especially when it's busy on a Thursday-Saturday.

They do have live music most nights of the week, but the band is situated up in the ceiling.... literally. You have to strain your neck to watch them and there is no way in HELL you can carry on a conversation in there. Everything is stone or wood so the sound just bounces off all the walls and it deafening.

An Urban Craft Beer Bar in the suburbs....yes!

Having just moved back to the Chicagoland area, a lot has opened and closed over the last three years that I missed out on.  I came to Beer Market with my brothers expecting another boring suburban bar with a staff that looked more bored than the customers.  What I got was an extensive beer list, comfortable and open floor plan, and a charming beer patio.  (let's not call it a garden, there's no plants)

This spot is very reminiscent of bars in the city, with big french doors opening up to the patio, live music on occasion, and no desire to cater to children (thank goodness, its a bar, let's not ruin it)

    The highlights of this gem:
    1)  No kitchen, but you can order from the surrounding restaurants and they'll bring it to your table.
    2)  As mentioned, IMMENSE beer list, which is constantly changing
    3)  Pleasant staff
    4)  Couches on the patio, overlooking a little pond, which makes the beer taste better?
    5)  Extremely reasonable prices.

My friends and I are planning a suburban bar crawl, but honestly, I imagine once we get here, this is where we'll stay, so its more of a suburban.....drive to one place and drink.......crawl.

Was here last night with some colleagues and did not have a good experience with the waitstaff.   I arrived 5-10 minutes later than my colleagues and was not even acknowledged by the server for 15 minutes.  Pretty unacceptable considering there were only a couple of tables.  All of the servers were socializing by the bar during this time.

After I finally put in my order, we ordered a pizza from a nearby business.  Let me just say that I did not get my beer until the pizza arrived 15 minutes later.  Literally, the pizza from another establishment won the race to my table.  Get my beer and it's not even cold.   The server couldn't give any recommendations for beer that they had in stock to my colleagues based off of what they told her they liked.

The two stars I gave for this place are simply the concept and the actual establishment.  I love the concept of sharing it's business with near by restaurants.  The execution and the service leaves a LOT to be desired.      My friends did say that this was the worst experience they have ever had at Beer market and that previous visits were enjoyable.

Beer - This place is great if you are a fan of beer! Huge selection of beers - draft and bottled. Our waitress was knowledgeable on making good recommendations on beers.

Food - there is no kitchen so you cannot get food...BUT you can order delivery from any restaurant in the area. Very cool concept.

Younger crowd on a Friday night.

Will be back and I highly recommend this place to anyone who is a fan of beer!

Cool building. Decent atmosphere. Our bartender was very nice  That's about it. The beer lines most likely aren't clean considering our beer tasted skunky. I had a DFH 60 Minute and my boyfriend had a Wild Onion Paddy Pale Ale...you literally couldn't taste the difference. I would recommend taking the time and head over to Firkin or Tighthead if you want awesome beer and a better atmosphere...not somewhere with crappy beer lines.

The craft beer has made its way to Vernon Hills and thank goodness for that.  Honestly, I was getting tired of trekking to the city to find some good craft beers and going to Binny's hoping to find a beer I'd like.

The concept of this restaurant is awesome as well.  They partner with other restaurants in the area so you can get the type of food you want.  My boyfriend and I ordered burgers from Tom and Edie's, which is literally next door.  Our food was brought to us and we were not charged for the delivery.

But, of course, the bread and butter of this place is the BEER and man, it did not disappoint.  The beer book is huge and they have 500 different types of bottled beer.  Also, they have 40 beers on tap and they even let you sample as many as you want so you make sure you're drinking what you want.

The staff seems laid back and chill and the service is good.  They also have live music - Jamie Lono from the Voice is coming to play on May 17th.

Overall, great place and definitely will be coming back.

    Casey couldn't be more right!!

Why aren't you here!    It is seriously a menu several pages thick with nothing but beer.   All kinds of beer!!

No, Seriously......  it's not like going to a restaurant and they hand you a wine list.....   this is a thick menu of nothing but beer!!!

I'm not sure if ALL the food is from the locations near by, but it's a pretty awesome gig that "this place" or "that place" literally a few doors down will bring you their food directly to your table!!

They also have a "rewards" club which i think - actually rewards you for being an adventurist and trying new things!

Great staff - fun atmosphere - must visit.
