Came for a beer to add to the Bend Ale Trail Passport. Tried their seasonal sour ale and enjoyed it. Not the most complex and lightly tart. Ordered a small batch of fries that were crispy but very oily. The service was fine. Tues. was packed for some reason I couldn't understand. My only major complaint is that they have no official closing hours and parking was a nightmare . Customer's should have to call to check in.
Review Source:The beer sampler was okay and the fish and chips pretty good. I ordered the vegetable muffeletta and was really disappointed with the product. The bread was not fresh and was served ungrilled. The vegetables were cooked alright but the overall taste was bland and not well thought out. There was way too much lettuce on the sandwich which was really all that I tasted. It was just lacking good taste and the bland bread really made this sandwich a dud.
After our visit to the Bend Brewing Company we met a few locals at a dog park, and everyone said that you should only go there for their beer and not their food.
There are so many other good restaurants in Bend that I would not return here.
What happened to the BBC? Â Used to be the best calamari in town. It's been a while since I have been here and was really looking forward to it. Buried in a bowl of lettuce was some measly scraps and it felt like I was actually fishing for squid. 11.50! Bartender said it's the way it's always been. Right. Must be new owners or they need to lay off their own beer. And never had a water refill. I can't write them off because of one bad experience but I am thoroughly dissapointed.
Review Source:Came here on a Saturday night, maybe an hour before they closed. Â We sat at the bar and got a sampler of all of the beers. Â For such a small brewery, there was actually a pretty good selection of beers. Â All were good. Â Our favorite was the Outback X.
The bartender was very friendly and even gave us some recommendations on where to snowshoe in the morning. Â He mapped out some falls with driving directions, and gave us an idea of where to rent gear if we decided to x-country ski. Â We ended up purchasing a 64 oz. hydroflask and filled it with Outback X, which was quite spendy, but totally worth it! Â Never tried the food, but the experience was excellent as well as the beers and the service. Â One of our favorite breweries in Bend.
I am giving this place four stars for beer and ambiance and location and only three for food. The food was fine for pub fare. No real complaints but nothing too special. The beer was pretty good. The room was like a ski lodge, sort of cozy, good booths with hooks for coats which was really nice. Overall, I would come again if someone else wanted to come but I'm not in a hurry to get back.
Review Source:I actually really like this place. Â I really think it will be a four in no time, it is just so new and messy as a result. Â Food is very basic, but satisfying and good. Â I appreciate the healthy additions. Â Portions are fair for the price. Â Service was well intentioned, but rough. Â I love having this place in Sunriver, it was much needed. Â I have mixed feelings about the kids play area, as most kids seemed to just scream and fight - LOL!
Review Source:We have been to breweries across the country and this turned out to be one of our favorites. The prices are far better than Deschutes Brewery across the way, and the sampler comes with over 10 beers, in fact, all the beers they have available. We got toasted on the sampler and didnt even have to buy anything else. From the golden pilsners to the porters, all the beers have a unique taste that we have no experienced elsewhere. You can tell the brewers favor spicy, earthy notes, and don't rely on the typical super-hoppy tastes to rely on for bravado in quality. My favorite was the one that tasted like banana-bread beer (which is in fact just the way they do the yeast not actual bananas!).
My boyfriend is from Long Island and proclaimed the fish and chips to be the best he's ever had. I had the brats and was stuffed afterward. F+C rocked, brats were average but more than enough food! The food came out within 10 minutes too. It was a Monday afternoon though, so it wasn't busy.
I can't wait to come back here and I'm so glad we ended up going here instead of Deschutes
Everything was under $10 each, except the tray which was $15.
During the day minors are allowed
We were very pleased with our visit to Bend Brew Co. Â The beer sampler was great! Â It was nice to try their whole spectrum. Â Ching Ching; not sure it was my favorite but well done all the same. Â WIll miss you down here in SoCal and will visit next time I'm in town. Â Keep up the good work!
Review Source:We initially wanted to sit on the patio with our pup, and they did not allow that... BOO! so we came back without the dog and sat inside by the bar. The outside does NOT look anything special, but the inside was nicer. The beer was really good!! We did not get any real food besides fries, and they were good (but how can you mess fries up?). The service was excellent and very speedy!! I would come back here to try more food next time!! The beer sampler was great tho!!!
Review Source:Great HH menu from 4-6. 3.5
We noshed heartily on the veg nachos and the full order of fries.. they're double fried for your pleasure!
Amber wheat ale on their seasonal menu. Â Yum! Too bad place doesn't have any real view of the Deschutes R. There is, however, a back patio with red umbrellas. Â Our server was def missing a marble or two. Things weren't smooth between us. She kept on forgetting our requests and we had trouble locating her to pay the bill.
but with good beer and eats, gotta give 'em some props! Few doors down from Pine Tavern.
I've been coming here for a few years now and I can say it's pretty good in comparison to Deschutes brewery. Â Their Metolius brew is my favorite, a light ale. Â This place is best for food around the late lunch time, they have happy hour twice a day and their fish and chips are great, usually what I come here for. Â Great little brewery.
Review Source:We did not get a chance to eat here but when we wanted to quench a thirst after miles of hiking this was the place. Â Many of the other breweries were crowded and loud. Â Bend Brewing not so much and we always found room to sit in the bar. Â Some really special beers. Â Ching Ching was a totally new experience. Â We tried the 10 brew testers and found four of them to be excellent. Â None of them were bad or of poor quality. Â Bartenders worked hard and still found time to talk and make customers feel welcome. Â We'll go back.
Review Source:We stopped here because it was not as jam-packed as Brother Jon's, which is where I really wanted to go.
So, sometimes things work out for the best. We drank some mighty fine brew, ate some wicked awesome food and our service was fast and friendly.
Another place in Bend that I'll be happy to visit again!
Wonderful food, and wonderful beer!
I had the Ruben sandwich, which paired very well with the Old Ale.
The atmosphere was wonderfully local, and everyone was very welcoming. The staff was friendly and attentive, and although it was relatively busy (it was a Saturday night) we were not ignored.
All in all it was a wonderful dining experience.
Bend Brewing Company is more relaxed and laid back than some of the other brewery pubs in town. Â It feels more like a pub, at least the kind I think of when I think of pubs I've been to over the years.
The beer selection is pretty wide ranging. Â The Sexi Mexi (tastes like Mexican chocolate) is a stand out brew. Â The Ching Ching is almost like drinking a sour margarita; it almost doesn't taste like beer at all. Â Not sure I like the monikers. Â I ordered the steelhead sandwich: fresh, soft and tasty.
If I were looking for a laid back place to watch a ball game with some friends, I think this might be a good option in Bend.
Tried this a few weeks ago. The prices were in the moderate range and the food was good but was not fond of the beer selections. I live in Portland so I can only try a few places when I go to Bend. I will probably try other places on our next trips because there are so many other places to try there. I would go back, though, if someone else want to go.
For me. . . Â a three star place.
Oregon has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to great beer and I'm sure we missed some other great opportunity when Gayle and I decided to stop at the Bend Brewing Company for Lunch. Patience young grasshopper...the Beaver State is not done with me yet!
My only complaint about the Bend Brewing Company is that although the Patio does indeed enjoy a view of Mirror Pond, there's a "bit" of real estate in between. However, the outdoor deck was pleasant and a little shade under the umbrella on this gloriously warm day didn't hurt. Service was friendly and efficient and both Gayle and I enjoyed just hanging out, catching up, and enjoying each others company.
Of course I went for the strongest IPA that they had, while Gayle went for for something a bit less hoppy. The beer went well with a slightly unusual but delicious Lava Butte Turkey Melt (sliced turkey, melted brie cheese, poached pears and fresh spinach served on ciabatta bread). Gayle went for the Tri Tip spinach salad. Both of our appetites were strong to the finich because we eats our.....
toot-toot!
I'd like to say that I tried their menu, but with a belly already half full of beer, that just wasn't in the cards.
It's tough to go wrong with $2.75 happy hours on Tuesday nights down by the river. Especially when they encouraged us to order at the bar and then find a place to perch on their patio, alongside of diners. There is actually a bench for just this, and that's just what we did. Me with my sour, Peter S with his IPA.... that's the good life.
They've got a wicked weekday happy hour plus they feature half-priced appetizers on Tuesdays so a Tuesday happy hour is insane!
We were pub-crawling and our intention was to have a brew and a nibble and roll out. After the nachos "appetizer" and two pints..we had to call it a night. The beer was decent, but nothing to fill a growler about.
The nachos, however, were amazing, delicious, wonderful and accidently became the dinner of these two hungry adults.
Thanks to the BBC, we'll never know how food in other breweries tasted...
BBC has a great happy hour and locals night, and their normal dinner menu is supplemented by a nice specials sheet, with a few good items, usually a pizza, a burger, a pasta.
Their beers are top-notch, holding their own against Deschutes (though they have maybe a third of the types).
The service is very good, and I've seen the same few gals for years now. Low turnover is always a good thing, in my opinion...it means the staff is happy and well-liked by both customers and management. After a couple visits they'll know your name and face.
It's pretty typical pub grub, but its fresh and tasty, and the beers alone are worth a stop
This place is low on my list! Â
The bartender was very rude, she obviously had other things on her mind and taking our order wasn't one of them! Â
The food was very average bar food! Â I expected a whole lot more from this place! Â The ambiance was very quite and the decor made the room feel very boring! Â
I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Â When I visit Bend again soon I will stay true to the other brewery up the street!!
Was recently back to BBC with my East Coast family who were in town for my wedding. I know BBC could accommodate a larger group and their menu prices wouldn't put anyone into orbit. They were easily able to seat our party of 8 and service was decent. The food was better than I remembered and the portions were HUGE! I believe most people at the table couldn't finish their meals. My aunt ordered one of the "small" salads and it was gigantic. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich with a green salad instead of fries...the cilantro dressing was delish...the sandwich was okay but I was also super full from eating their appetizer special which happens to be an old school favorite of mine...mozzarella sticks. Uh, yes....you had me at fried cheese.
Still stuck with the pilsner (even after we came back a couple hours later with a new group who was rolling into town late and needed food). Â Thanks BBC for providing a fun, filling experience for all of us!
Five perfectly combined words that become an incredible alcoholic taste sensation:
Coconut cream stout on nitro.
Let's try that one again slowly.
Coconut         cream          stout           on         nitro.
Oh my was this a good brew. I know nitro makes every beer that much better, but this was the smoothest stout with the nicest (coco)nutty hint of flavor that I was wishing I wasn't afraid of needles and could mainline this directly.
The layout of the BBC is a standard Oregon brewpub. Service was great. I got over-excited while telling a story, and knocked my beer over, and someone was cleaning it up in less than 2.2 seconds. The berry cobbler a la mode one of my dining companions ordered was scrumptious. Â The two other brews I tried were darn good as well.
But seriously, if you are in Bend anytime soon please go to the BBC and try the coconut cream stout on nitro.
Oh, and their brewmaster is a female, which I think is pretty kick-ass too!
I don't usually go here to eat but if your hungry try the Calamari and or a Burger. The real attraction is the beer namely the "Hophead." If you are lucky enough to show up when some is availiable, it is a "must try". They also have it for sale in 24 oz. bottles on occasion.
Beautiful scenery out the back windows, lots of TV's, cool T-shirt selection. Salute.
This place has very average food (but they do offer small portions, so that's pretty cool if you don't have anyone to split a meal with), average service, and good beer. The beer is not the best in town, but it's certainly up in the top 5 for quality...
Really, what this place has going for it is that it's a fun place to hang out (especially on a nice day out on the patio, with a view of the river) and drink a couple beers. It's also a good place to hang out with a big group as you can rent the entire front room for a measly $50. Pretty good deal...
There is better food, better service, and better beer other places... but BBC is up there on my list for a fun place to hang out and have a couple cold ones.
We recently visited some friends in Bend and the BBC was our first stop for some grub and brews over the lunch hour. Â We sat on the back patio and took in the sun while we waited for our server. Â The service in general was a bit slow from the get-go....we had to ask for menus, then for water, and then we waited like 10 minutes for the first round of beers to make it back to our table...minus 2 stars. Â However, after a few sips of their tasty brew, all was right again in the world....plus 1 star. Â I had one of their seasonals- an apricot ale and it was perfect-crisp and lightly fruity. Â Everyone else seemed to enjoy their beers too-a Porter, an IPA and a Golden Ale. Â
Their menu is pretty typical of a "brew pub": sandwiches, burgers, salads, etc. Â We finally got our order in and waited while we enjoyed more beer. Â And waited. Â And waited. Â The food took a while but when it finally got to us, it was delicious-a club sandwich and fries for me, chicken tacos, a tuna melt and burgers for the others. Â All of us left full, happy and slightly buzzed.
Was here for Tuesday night - "local's night" where beer is even cheaper than normal (2.25/pint). Â Had a burger and fries and my friend got the soft tacos. Â Both were fine.
There were a lot of people there, it was pretty loud and lively in a good way. Â I tried the "Hophead" IPA, which was indeed hoppy, maybe a little too much bitter for a full pint but good to taste. Â Then I had the porter which was very good.
You can park on the street or in a public parking lot nearby that's free after 5, with first 2 hrs free any time. Â I enjoyed this place and would probably go back if I was here for more than only a week.
