The Bends is certainly a hidden easter egg in the corner of St. Pete. Tucked away in an otherwise abandoned street, its a great place to meet and catch up with friends where you don't have to shout over each other. You can hang with your drinks inside or outside and the prices are reasonable. My only complaint is unfriendly staff. Granted my friends had a bit to drink and I'm sure it's tiresome serving a bar full of people like that and so I can understand the frustration, but there's also just being grumpy and rude. I was completely sober and I still felt like they were rude to me. So there's that. But I wouldn't not recommend this place if you're looking for somewhere off the beaten path that won't drain your wallet for the night.
Review Source:FUN. FUN EVERY TIME. this is the kind of place that should exist in every city and i was shocked when i moved to st. pete that we didn't have a bar like this. then along came the bends...with its shot and tall-boy drink specials, its delicious go-to cocktails  and its smokey debauchery. i've been here when it's slow during a weekday happy hour and when it's packed full of sweaty shirtless drunks on a friday night and i always have a fantastic time. there's a digi jukebox but its mostly unnecessary because the music here is so on point all the time. the first time i went here there was a dj playing new wave in the back and 90's dance/electronic was on at the bar. i could cry just thinking about it. there are skate vids playing on ONE tv that you'd never notice unless you looked for it. the bartenders are the best in st. pete. using the term "hipster bar" is boring and gross and you are probably boring and gross if you call it that. its a straight up FUN BAR. fun people go here. party.
