This store has been great at taking the time to help us find things, or make suggestions on what we may need. They have a huge selection of music books for most instruments. Work they have done on our guitar and saxophone has been quick. They made sure to confirm the repair charges before proceeding with the work.

They do tend to run low on reeds for lesser used instruments, but that is pretty standard for most stores.

I teach at Bertrands so I may be a bit partial - but they will work to please you and meet your needs. If they don't have what you need in stock they can order it for you.

They have a good rental program. If you are looking to hire instruments or take lessons call or stop by.

I have shopped at Bertrand's for about 10 years and always find the staff to be caring and knowledgeable. Jessica is a genius in the area of Karaoke and the selections of instuments is fresh and surprising. I recently found Steel Drums and a Ukelele Bass, yes. Bass!  Santa, are you listening?

Bertrand's, keep up the good work!!

My 5th grade son just signed up for band and was not sure what instrument he wanted to play so we stopped by the PQ store.  It happened to be on their busiest day of the year.  My son needs extra patience and attention. Luke was extremely helpful.  He explained every instrument and gave my son a lesson on how to play each instrument.  He worked with him for close to an hour to find an instrument that would work well for my son and one that he felt comfortable with.  We sighed up for a rental and lessons which was very reasonable.

Thanks to Bertrand's I survived 5th grade band.  We were referred to Bertrands by my daughters music teacher for summer head start violin lessons.  They had easy times/days to pick from and my daughter enjoyed the easy 30 minute intro lessons.  The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, professional and is use to dealing with kids and their parents.
My daughter used our 60 year old family (antique) student violin for band and had I known it would require 9 repairs over the course of 9 months I would have rented a new one from Bertrands.  Kids are very hard on instruments so I was at Bertrands every month for some kind of repair to the violin.  Every visit I was just waiting for a huge repair bill but soon figured out this business is very honest and only charged me for what was absolutely required.  Some repairs they did for free and the others were always under $15.  What a pleasant surprise!  The only big bill I had was getting our badly stored violin in shape for my daughter to use.  The horsehair bow needed to be restrung, glued and fixed.  The violin itself also needed a tuneup.  The estimate for this was $110 and I ended up with a bill for just $70.
Bertrands also saved my sanity when 4 days before my daughters final 5th grade band performance she told me her bow was not working.  I took it to be repaired only to find out it was not repairable.  I was not kidding when I said kids are hard on instruments.  Bertrands was able to loan me a bow for her to use and saved the day!   I am thankful this year of band is over and am so pleased this little PQ music store and their staff help me through it.  My only other recommendation to parents is to save your antique instruments as they may not survive an 11 year old.

After driving all over Convoy area to various Karaoke Stores and finding that 100% of the ones I went to were closed.  Not just closed for the day, but closed and gone!  I sat in the parking lot of the 3rd place I tried and google'd Karaoke Stores and found Bertrand's Music.  Gave a call and sure enough, they sold Karaoke CD's.  10 mins later I was there.  The selection was not very big but it was better then nothing at all.  I've never needed to buy this kind of thing so I don't know if the prices were all that great or not.  I was surprised to see CD's for $17 and up.  They did have some older ones for $5 or less even.  I took 4 @ $12.99 each and that was good enough.

Staff was nice and the place was busy with parents and kids getting some lessons and what not.  I will keep this place in mind for the future.

My daughter was in need of a violin for her music class. After calling around, Bertrand's offered me the best monthly rate for a violin rental. For an extra $40 they offered me an accessories package, which had everything she needed to play her instrument (e.g. rosin, music stand, polish cloth, neck support, etc.). They were even kind enough to throw in her required music book for free.

Bertrand's was the only music store who also offered a maintenance plan. For $4 a month, all repairs and maintenance are covered.

I loved how they anticipated the influx of customers needing to purchase or rent an instrument for the school year and streamlined the process. After informing them that I wanted to rent a violin, they directed me to a group of tables already set up. They had a price list and forms all set up. I was in and out in 15-20 minutes time.

My only gripe is that what they quoted me over the phone was different from the actual price. The price ended up equaling what other music stores were offering me. However, their stellar service more than made up for it.

The staff was really friendly and offered to order a book for me that they didn't have in stock. They do a lot of advocacy for music education in schools too (which I completely support), so any money you spend here goes toward a good cause.

I have been a customer of Bertrand's for 14 years and their instrument selection and sheet music supplies are awesome. They are family owned and Jeff always goes out of his way to meet my needs. Their prices are very competitive and their service is outstanding.

We have been coming here primarily for guitar lessons for my son. If this review was based on his instructor and lessons alone, it would be definitely deserve a 5 star rating. His particular teacher is very knowledgeable on the theories of music so my son not only learns about how to play music but understands the principles behind it. The have been very flexible on timing as it is very had to keep a schedule for an active 13 y/o.

As for the merchandise here, we honestly only come here out of convenience. The pricing is a little higher than other places in the San Diego area but the staff is helpful and knowledgeable but be warned, you will be paying a little more for your items here.

The do have a nice selection of various instruments as well as different music books for any level of learning. If they do not have it in stock, they are able to order it for you.

I love it when you go to a new place with a simple need (a Primer for Keyboarding in my case) and you are in and out in 5 minutes.

Stepped in, asked a very helpful person at the counter, was assisted to the book stand, and found what I needed in about 3 minutes.  Was all done after 2 more.

Did not have time to browse but I would recommend Bertrand's when in need of things related to music.  Great customer service!
