Biergarten Haus

Very good beers on tap. The outdoor patio is large and great for groups. Fun, relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely come back here for drinks and to enjoy the company of others. I wasn't very impressed with the food so I don't think I'd come back here for the food but rather the beers/outdoor area alone.

Note: There is valet if you can't find parking.

Again I am going to have to start this off with the staff.  As a young woman with a service dog going out can be a little overwhelming (or rather underwhelming in their treatment of me).  There is always a nerve racking moment when I walk through the door of a new place when I wonder if this is about to turn into an embarrassing fight to gain entry or not.  Luckily, this place welcomed me with open arms.  When I first moved to DC I didn't know a soul and this became my hang out because the staff was so friendly I didn't feel weird being out alone.  Now when I walk through the door with friends I am greeted by all the staff thats been there for a while by first name.  The night manager has a sausage for my dog (I think he is more excited to see my dog than me lol)  and Warren one of the Bartenders is just about one of the nicest guys you could meet in DC.  

Alright now that I am done with that, the place is a great set up, especially in summer.  They have two bars indoors, one upstair and one downstairs.  Then they have a partially indoor area in the back with a bar and huge screen TV on the wall which is great for watching games.  There is also an outdoor seating area that is serviced by the same bar are as the partially covered seating.  Last but not least they have an upstairs roof top deck with yet another bar and MORE seating.  The whole vibe is great, not quite that of a real biergarten in Munich but about as good as you are going to find Stateside.  They have a full menu thats delicious (I love the hot pretzels with mustard and cheese), several real german beers on tap, decent prices.  

I believe the upstairs both indoors and out can be rented for private parties as well...just FYI.

Hot as balls!!! We sat in the patio area, and it was hot! I mean, I sort of expected it to be hot, given that it's outdoors and DC in the summer, but the hostest tucked us in a corner and it was even more stiffling. They need fans! Ceiling fans would have helped immensely, if nothing more than to circulate the air.

At first it seemed like we were well attended to, but then our server kept messing up our order...they need a better system for keeping track of orders (or perhaps equipping their servers with pen and paper to write it down!?). Aside from that, the beer was fine and the food was decent.

I'm not sure that the pretzels were really all that to rave about.
