Talking all that jazz. Â
Just gimme some horns now.
and let's take that bassline for a walk.
I'd have to say when it comes to the art of jazz that this space is where you need to sit and take a listen. Â The jam sessions are pretty cool, especially because you'll see random people just stand up, join in, jam out, and sit back down like it wasn't a big deal. Â Meanwhile, to you it should be amazing, because there's a lot of talent that comes through here that aren't about anything but playing to play. Â
A departure from the glitz and the glam that consumes some areas of DC, overpriced bottle/table service, and guest lists... that's a whole bunch of whatever and ever. Â Not here, not this place, it's simple, it has a bar, and it has seats. Â The focus of HR57 is where you want it to be...
....this place is about the music.
Nice little comedy club nestled off H Street. Â The venue itself is not that big, but it's also not stuffy like most comedy clubs. Â Went here last night (Tuesday) and there was a $10 cover charge and well worth the money. Some of the comedians had me dying laughing, others were so so. The biggest drawback was some of the patrons. Â One table in particular which the host dubbed the "retard table" was so obnoxious and really almost ruined the night for everyone with their belligerent behavior. Â
The decor is simple, plenty of seating, clean bathrooms, and big bar.
Aside from the disrespectful crowd, overall a great club and highly recommended.
Tip: Park on the side streets in the neighborhood.
