Bistro La Bonne

I was there just last night celebrating the bastille day! It was sooo much fun!

We got there around 8:30. Parking was a problem yes, but because of the sorority reunion, it was impossible to find parking in U St area anyways. When we got there all of the tables were wiped out for the celebration and they said there was going to be dancing starting from 9. When we saw that, we were already getting excited! :)

They took us upstairs where they put all the tables. We some mussels and the bastille day special. Mussels were just perfect! They were cooked very well and they were very big. We joked about how fat mussels they were with the people at the next table. The bastille day special was fillet mignon with foie gras. Although they were out of foie gras, they were serving the dish with 2 big seared scallops instead. It still was very good. Steak was very soft and cooked perfectly for our liking. A lot of times in French restaurants it is hard to find that good quality meat.

After we finished eating although we were completely full, we realized that we were still hungry for more mussels! they were just soooo good!

After the second round of mussels, we went downstairs to the bar and had our drinks. We danced a little bit too! They had a DJ and played French songs all night!

It was very much fun to be there. It always is. The environment is very cozy and the food is very consistent. If you are in U St area or craving for some good French food, this is the place to be!

Love this place, romantic, great food and better service. So rare to have genuine French at a French restaurant! Great date place, can't rant emphatically enough!

I came here for Sunday brunch with a group of my friends and this place was a hit! We had a group of 9 and they sat us comfortably at a table on our own floor. I ordered the Daniels Benedict and it was super yummy, I will come back to order it again. I also tried the Baked Chicken and Waffles which was tasty as well I just wish they used dark meat instead of white meat for the chicken. Not only was the food good, they also offer bottomless mimosas, my favorite! Our waitress was very friendly and was very efficient at keeping our mimosas refilled which I loved! Overall, it was a great experience and I will be back for another sunday brunch!
