This didn't taste like a real burrito to me, more like an American burrito. I was surprised, it looks like a quick grab n' go joint, but you can actually dine-in and they serve alcohol. Ordered a big burrito, if you don't have a big appetite, I would suggest the smaller size. I had to take half with me. I was a little put off by the salsa being "ready to go" in a bowl under the counter and the red plastic food trays being stacked on top of the salsa bowls, but i digress. The chicken was seasoned nicely, a crispy burrito shell, which added a nice texture, steak was also seasoned nicely according to friends. All I could taste was the seasoned meat, it seemed like the flavors of the cheese, beans, lettuce , etc. all ran together. It didn't taste like Mexican food to me, but I still thought it was a decent burrito.
Review Source:My bf and I were staying at a nearby hotel and got the midnight munchies, so we drove around and luckily found this place. I got a taco salad with grilled chicken and my bf got a chicken burrito. And the super friendly staff gave us complementary chips and salsa while we waited for our food. Everything was delicious...In fact, we enjoyed our food so much that we came back the NEXT DAY for lunch and ordered the "Don't Even Think About It!"
Review Source:Just waited an hour and a half for cold chorizo tacos. On top of the horribl wait, btw I live 1 min away, there is a 3 dollar delivery charge. Also, they didn't give me the hot sauce which is arguably the best part. Â Ooo and the chorizo which was cold was burnt. So do not order food from this restaurant. Â Something about paying 20 dollars to have somone deliver you cold, essentially leftovers, Â to your house for you to microwave is fucked. Â I have eaten here before and it was ok but tonight was honestly the worst food experience I have had in Kalamazoo. Â I will never recomend this place to another person, or eat here again. Â Taco bell is atleast hot!
Review Source:I resisted going here for years, thinking it was a fast food place. Â Could not have been more wrong.
Whenever I'm in the vicinity, I stop in for a pork burrito. Â Flavors are great, portions are large, food seems fresh, service is friendly, and their green sauce is to die for: I have been tempted to walk out the door with 4 bottles of it.....
The food here satisfies. It's not 100% authentic and it is somewhat Americanized, but it's still definitely good. I always feel like someone's mom prepared my food with love in a normal kitchen when I get the food here. It's not pretentious food or a pretentious atmosphere at all. It's just very down-to-earth.
Also, the prices are very reasonable. The other big pull is that they are open late-night. And the fact that they deliver is pretty amazing. The food is much better freshly made at the restaurant, but it's still awesome that you can get it delivered to your doorstep.
People who say The Big Burrito is only post-bar food are wrong. Â Yes, it's greasy. Â But many of our finest foods are.
This was a frequent stop for me during my college days and I recently returned for the first time in a long time. Â The place seems to have gotten a serious makeover. Â It looks less like the back-alley kitchen it really is, and more like a legit restaurant.
I will say that the "big burrito" I ordered seemed much lighter than I remembered. Â Perhaps they're skimping on ingredients to save money. Â No matter. Â From the crispy tortilla to the gooey cheese, this is a wonderful indulgence. Â If it makes you feel better to say it's only good when you're drunk, that's fine. Â Say whatever you want. Â It's fun to go slumming every now and then.
I've only enjoyed Big Burrito while stone sober... and I make no apologies. Â I will shout it from the mountaintops. Â I love it.
It also seems they've added a bar since my last visit. Â Now you have no excuse not to go.
Also, you stand a better-than-average chance at being shot or run over while in this parking lot late at night, so that's always fun.
Viva El Big Burrito!
I used to eat here alllll the time. They have amazing hot sauce (red and green) and that is what makesto food good. By itself, the food is only ok. Â They've undergone renovations, got rid of the good specials and raised the prices so I don't really go anymore. I do miss the hot sauce...
Review Source:It's not bad sober, but it's rll good when you're drunk. Â It's open for pretty much anytime you could ever want messikan food. Â Not too authentic, but really? Â You're in Kalamazoo, what do you expect? Â The burritos are big, filling, and totally what you'd expect from a place like this. Â Check it out, preferably after the bar, that's when it's best.
