Pizza Pizza - This place does pizza right and its priced right...
Much like most pizza in Chicago, someone will tell you it is the best ever and someone else will tell you they didn't care for it. I personally enjoy this pizza, it is not great but it is never bad!
The Buffalo Wing Pizza is a nice departure from the norm...
That is pretty much where the review ends for me, other than drinking at the bar I have not eaten anything else from Bije's.
All in all, I will try to frequent this place more often as I have never been disappointed...
Bijes has the best pizza i have ever had ! the crust is amazing , crispy  just the right char on the crust .., the pizza is not greasy , and you can tell the cheese is real.. we always order the same pizza sausage and garlic , ... this pizza is so addictive , i cannot stop eating it ...  the stars are for the food .. unfortuneatly the service is not , almost every time we go in there the staff looks confused and we somehow almost always get looked over, always looking for a refill on soda or beer , I think they need a GM who knows how to staff and assign tables  as well as seat people , if the service  was as good as the food it would rate 5 stars from everyone .. !
bottom line , great food but of your willing to hang in there you will have a good meal at a good price ..
The pizza is excellent, I have been going here for years. Â My niece and I went in here for a drink one night recently just to unwind and relax after the work week. Â The music was so loud, we couldn't hear each other even though we were sitting next to each other. Â Did we come on club night? Â Seemed we were also being ignored, as it took over ten minutes to order a drink even though there was less than ten people in the whole place. Â Staff was highly unfriendly too. Â Bottom line for me...I will keep having my pizza delivered to me at home, and I can make my drinks faster even if I had to walk to the store to get the liquor myself.
Review Source:Another very good pizza, middle still a little soggy, but I am blaming my selection of carmelized onions again. I love the taste of them, but I think they just have a little too much moisture.
FREE 2 liter with Large Pizza.
5/$12 Domestic buckets Tuedays.
While I always take it home, seems like a great local place to grab a pizza and a few beers. Always great staff there...
This place is a staple in the neighborhood. Â This pizza is REALLY good along with pretty much everything else I've had on the menu. Â The place has a great atmosphere and it seems like no matter when you go in there, there is a good crowd. Â Always great tunes on the jukebox too. Â I'd say 90 percent of the time the owner is sitting on the very first seat at the bar when you walk in and he always greets everyone with a smile and some friendly banter. Â If you are in the neighborhood, I highly recommend a drop in!
Review Source:I want to write this review but I don't want to write this review. Let me explain myself.
I came here with a Groupon. I got a large BBQ Bacon Pizza and a large Buffalo Chicken Pizza with medium sauce. I brought them over to my buddies house for the Bulls game. The pizza was how I expected it to be, delicious until my health conscious body realized what it was being stuff with. This occurred right about when I hit my third slice. These specialty kinds of pizzas just do not sit well with me. This applies to the ones I had at Bije's, as well as ones that I've had from California Pizza Kitchen and other similar places that make exotic pizzas. Â I should have ordered a mushroom, sausage, and black olive pizza and am sure my taste buds would have been satisfied. However, i was hanging with a couple of friends and watching a Bulls game, so I figured these two pizzas would compliment the game and scene of things a little more than your typical pizza. Guys, Sports, Buffalo Wings....but pizza style :)
As I have said, the first couple of slices were great. I actually liked the BBQ Bacon Pizza a lot more because the saltness of the bacon combined with the zest of the BBQ sauce really mixed well with the cheese. The Buffalo Chicken Pizza was a bit bland and probably would have tasted better with the suicide sauce rather than the medium sauce. Then again, I am not sure how hot the suicide sauce ranks in at, if it were too hot, it might not be enjoyable. Regardless, I do not think one can go wrong with the BBQ Bacon Pizza.
The reason why I debated heavily on writing this review was because I knew I had a bias going into tasting these two pizzas. I knew that at some point my stomach would remind me of my Dad's favorite quote, "A man has got to know his limitations" (Dirty Harry aka Clint Eastwood). For me, my limitations are a typical old fashion simple topping type of pizza, nothing extravagant. I realized that I had tossed my limitations out the window as I saw the grease of the cheese glisten off of the top of the pizza  and felt the lard of the bacon clogging my arteries. I should have known better, but I wanted to get something that the guys would appreciate and am always up for trying new things. Therefore, is it really fair that I express my opinion on this pizza? I don't know. I guess you, the reader, get to be the judge. I can tell you one thing though. If I was tossing back beers (even though I don't drink anymore), getting my buzz on, and looking forward to a heavy night of partying...these pizzas would have fit the mood and situation perfectly. This is good "let's get completely wasted and chow down on some greasy food at the end of a long night" pizza. Ya feel me? I hope so :)
Now I finally get to mention the thing that I've been most looking forward to write about in my review. Carl Quilici. He's the owner and he's a hell of a guy. I walked in the door to pick up my pizza and was greeted by his wonderful personality. We got to talking for a few seconds. I hear a little history on how long his restaurant has been around and can tell he is really sincere about making people feel welcomed when they come into his place. He is also a very humble person who realizes the economy is ruff, but rather than complaining about matters, Â he gives praise to the Lord for blessing him with enough business to remain open. God Bless guys like him who do not take things for granted and whom always remain thankful. Carl, if you are reading my review, I am sorry that I only gave your place 3 stars. However, while I do not live in the immediate area of your bar, I will definitely make it a point to visit you again one day and to suggest your pizza to all of my friends who live in the surrounding area. I have some really diehard Karaoke buddies too and will definitely bring up the fact that your place is the place to be on Thursday nights. In the meantime, I wish you all the best brother and hope that anyone else reading this review has the pleasure of meeting you and tasting your delicious pizzas. Thanks for everything.
My cousin has been telling me about the Buffalo wing pizza  with the suicide sauce from Bije's for awhile now, and I FINALLY got to try it. Â
Verdict: Woot! Awesomtastic!
The place is definitely a place where locals congregate, but I was happy to intrude. Â Perfectly cooked thin crust pizza that's not greasy and dripping with pure ecstasy. Â Yumm!
The bar section was pretty cool, but the resteranut and tables and seating area for food was atrocious. I have never seen smaller and worse seating as it is right oot of the fifties. Do they realize how big people are today especially ones that like to devour into pizza. The staff was unfriendly. That can be ignored as the place is pretty cool and the location looking right onto Irving Park Road can be pretty cool
Review Source:Was pestered by a few locals to get pizza there instead of the many other ones that were a lot closer. Â So already I had a feeling that they made a good pizza.
Its nice that they have their own parking lot, which can't be said for the majority of the businesses along Irving Park. Â Got there right around 4 when they opened and there were already some patrons inside. Â It seemed more like a family friendly joint with the coach, some little leaguers munching on pizza and pitchers of soda. Â The place was also decorated with a lot of old and new Blackhawks memorabilia on the wall, which I liked, and I didn't seem like the people here were "bandwagon" type fans either.
I got a small thin crust with bacon and indulged on a soda (too early for a beer) while waiting for it ($13 altogether). Â Cindy, the barmaid, was pretty nice and seemed to know all the random customers that came in. Â I also found out the name Bije's was allegedly the name of the owner's dad's dog. Â
The pizza looked basic, but had a good amount of flavor and was a great effort, coming from a bar and grill. Â I only took a star off for their lackluster beer selection, with all macro brews and Sam Adams Boston Lager, which was the closest craft they had. Â All in all, I would like to come back, especially during a Blackhawks game, and I did get a feeling that I would hear some great stories if I would of stayed longer.
Oh Bije's, why can't you be closer to the city? If you would, you're prices wouldn't be as cheap, I guess.
This super casual, sports bar allowed us to kick back, sing along to  jukebox tunes, and have a obnoxiously great time. Unfortunately, the blasted guy at the bar wanted to join in. However, once we requested to the owner to get the guy away from us, he was pleasantly escorted away.
Ideal place for a large group, inexpensive drinks, and wonderful, bubbly staff. And I hear their pizza is amazingly yummy! Can't wait to go back.
This is the best place for PIZZA in  my neighborhood..you would never
think that seeing it's in a sports bar..but i tried just about every pizza
joint in the neighborhood and it's up there on the top of my list..the appetizers are pretty good also, their sandwiches leave a little to be desired though..even the delivery service is quick and you get free pop with your large pizza..can't beat that with a stick and not a 32 oz bottle
but a 64oz bottle not to many places do that ..i've been going here for years and will keep on going in and having it delivered..they even give ya a free pie if you save 10 coupons from there pizzas such a deal..
none of the other pizza joints got anything on this place i love it ..keep
up the good work..
I SERIOUSLY know Chicago pizza. When you get to the end of this, you'll know why.
Hidden away on a corner in a neighborhood dominated by condos and a pizza place very 60 yards is Bije's, a cozy sports bar with an amazing secret life as one of the best pizza joints in Chicago.
The old moose head plays host to Carl and company's mecca for sports viewers. Bije's is a shrine to hockey. What most but a few insiders knew was that this family comes from Chicago pizza royalty, and they've blessed the neighborhood by keepin' it real... and here.
Without the high-priced bullshit associated with Gold Coast sports joints, here's a REAL bar with real fans and a place that will host hordes of families and Cub scouts at any given time. Â I will reveal that I brought one of the honchos from HBO Sports here one night while working on a Cubs documentary; we bellied up to the bar and he was, "Man, I LOVE this place!" Â You can, indeed ,find magic times when the place is between crowds; if it were deeper in the trendier parts of Chicago, the lines would never stop.
Yes, they do karaoke, but never have and never will, but the old TVs were replaced around 2010 to big, thin screens and a whopper of a full-walled projection system that, after years, still makes for a great night of watching and eating. The crew has enough ovens to keep it busy, and other items on the menu are just as good. Don't limit yourself to just the pizza, but for a first-time visitor, you HAVE to do Bije's 'zza. Outside of a local parish, you'd be hard-pressed to hear God's name invoked so often.
The 'zza itself uses yellow corn meal for that extra crunch, and we just can't place what heroin is in that cheese and sauce, but trying to stop eating takes self-control. This and a pitcher of Miller Lite and we're totally happy. And pizza so good that it still has much of the mystique still there the next day, but really, hot from the oven is nearly religious experience. Crisp edges, and a center that weighs in under REAL cheese, so expect some softness there, but lined with crispy corn meal, it is like dining on a 2nd style pizza. nobody, ever, among our friends has said anything short of big love for Bije's.
Friendly (unless, of course, you come in with attitude and/or block one of the limited parking spaces). If you must drive, park across the street at the bank.
Tip generously; the girls here hustle with love and a smile. If you find yourself waiting, be cool. it's part of the deal: Demand can be insane some nights. No kidding; this is the best you could ever ask for in any city... and I have it walking distance from the house; Life is good.
Above all, when WE walk in and you're in our booth, f***ing move.
