This is one of the better sub shops in the Chicagoland area. Â Everything is made right there, including the desserts. Â You take a number and order deli style at a counter. Â In addition to sandwiches, you can purchase freshly sliced deli meats and homemade sausages, side salads, meatballs and other tasty dishes. Â The meatballs are super delish, and the turtle brownie is so rich and full of carmely goodness. Â I'm conflicted about the sub. Â Yes, I would include it in my top 10 Chicago area subs, but not in the highest positions. Â The bread is fresh (a must!), and it comes with homemade dressing, but I found the flavor to be a few steps down from places like Capri Deli in Palatine, Alpine Food Shop in Elmwood Park or the Algonquin Sub Shop. Â The dressing was a bit bland, and the bread didn't have the buttery flavor I love so much. Â I wasn't at all impressed by the pasta salad. Â I think it was wearing the same dressing they use on the subs. Â It tasted like plain olive oil and some dry Italian seasoning.
Oh, by the way: I'm a sub snob, so take that into consideration when choosing where to eat your sub. Â This place IS very good.
When you go, ask for George Nottoli, the owner. He's super friendly and makes you feel totally at home. I thought I was only going to have one Italian Sausage sandwich -- but I ended up ordering a second one. I ate them both at their tables. It was sooo good. Hit the spot. Highly recommended! Family business, very clean, great food, great value, super friendly. Very traditional. The best! - ces from Northbrook
Review Source:I'm concerned that if I write more, readers will think I'm on the Nottoli & Son payroll. Â Please trust me, I'm not!
This evening, once again, I enjoyed some of their mild Italian sausage with fennel seeds that I cooked up along with red sauce & linguine. Â OMG, once again, it was great!!.
BTW, my wife and I recently tried their olive & tuna salads. Â Both were great!
Okay, if you like Italian food, you gotta go there!!! Â If you don't understand what I'm saying.....I gotta wonder if you have taste buds!!! Â :-)
