Our first visit to Black Angus was on Tuesday for lunch. The place was dead. We both ordered steak and shrimp. The shrimp were just shrimp, nothing special. The steak was cooked a perfect rare, just as we had ordered. No grissle , no fat, and no taste. I could not believe Black Angus would have such a bland steak. I mean no smoke, no seasoning, and NO taste. Then the waitress who had been so attentive disappeared for about a half hour so we finally got the bus boy to bring us more iced tea. Unbelievable!! The Spunky Stear has better steaks for less money, although they just raised their price $2 a steak. This was our first and last visit to Black Angus. I still had money on the gift card and gave it to my Daughter with instructions to not order steak.
Review Source:I met a client for a meeting who's office is nearby and he choose Black Angus for lunch. I honestly can't recall the last time I ate at black Angus.
It was a late lunch and we were seated next to the bar in a booth which was large and comfy. There were several large flat screens and this looked like a decent place for happy hour. We started off with an order of the garlic cheese bread and ice teas. I went with the prime rib sandwich which was topped with mushrooms and was an open faced sammie. The prime rib was decent - I cut around the grissel and the mushrooms were way to salty. Thank goodness for refills!
Our waitress was younger, friendly and took good care of us. This was the reason why I raised my rating to 4 stars verses 3.
My wife and I came here for lunch on her Birthday since she got a free steak dinner coupon email for her Birthday. We walked right in and didn't have to wait, our waitress was really sweet and took care of us really well. I sadly don't remember what my wife got cause this was a week ago but she loved it. I got the 12 ounce New York Steak which was really good, with garlic mashed potatoes and Caesar salad. It was all really good. The wheat bread and butter was really good too. And for my wifes Birthday they brought her their version of a Pazookie ala mode, we shared and that was amazing! My wife said theirs was better than BJ's and that's saying something! So I would definitely recommend this place for a Birthday lunch cause their lunch menu is waayy cheaper than dinners.
Review Source:Went for lunch and had a wonderful meal. Â Our server was very good and suggested items that she thought we might like. Â We had the best laugh when the bus boy (if they're still called that) came to clear our plates. Â He had a very good sense of humor and made our day.
Food - great
Service - great
Price - average
Went here for dinner (for the first time) on 4/10. Â Went straight to the Bullseye Bar. Â Service was relatively fast and prompt. Â The Happy Hour menu was decent with some selections. Â We ordered the sampler ($5 off) and was a tad disappointed with the portions. Â I guess you get what you pay for. Â I had the prime rib and opted to go with the 3/4 lb. Â They had a wednesday special for $17.99 that was the 8oz portion but I thought that was too small. Â The prime rib was decent but overcooked (wanted a medium and it was more medium-well). Â
The place seems like a decent spot to hang out and watch the game. Â I prefer Claim Jumper's prime rib though.
Don't you hate it when you are reping something to anyone in ear shot and then they to repay you they come back with disappointment. Yes, my experience at Black Angus.
I started coming here alot when we first opened our home to my wife's mother. She isn't a bad person, but she like to talk alot. My job consist of me being on the phone 8 hours a day. When I get home I don't feel like talking. After work I would come here for some quiet time. (I know, a bar for quiet time) But trust me the casual talk I may get in the bar section here is still less talking I will get at home.
The Bar section is called the Bulls Eye Bar. Probably one of the biggest bars connected to a restaurant. Yesterday I decided to get out the house for a few hours with the wife to hit up the Bulls Eye Bar.
Our waitress (which the bar even has) was awesome. She is the reason there are 2 stars instead of 1. She seemed to have a southern accent when she talked and would check on us frequently to see if we were good.
I decided to get a couple of Lo-Jitos. (Mojitos that are lower in calorie (150), and has less sugar. I have been told they have sugar substitute.) And the Steak Quesadilla's... this should be so good....
Anyway, the Lo-Jitos had a fresh taste. Really delicious actually, but there was only one problem... no alcohol. I drink my drinks really fast in order for the buzz to hit me quickly. The first drink was polish off with no buzz. I figured I had drinked it faster than it took for the buzz to get to me. I ordered another one. Drinked it down and again nothing. Very disappointing.
The Steak Quesadilla should be awesome. I mean, this placed is called Black Angus Steakhouse. There is no way that your Steak Quesadilla should be worse then Taco Bells Steak Quesadilla. It was picture perfect when it came out. With a little drizzle of barbeque sauce on the toritlla, sour cream, shredded lettuce and some pico de gallo. I bit into the Quesadilla and found out something right away. The little chopped up meat was left over pieces of steak that they have cut away. The fat pieces! I took the gristled meat out of my mouth and took another bite. The same over chewy, fat tasting meat in every bite.I was disappointed. My meal quickly turned into vegetarian meal in seconds. I found one cut section of my Quesadilla that had a few pieces of meat that wasn't chewy fat. The only thing kept me from complaining was that me and my wife was playing the Buzztime game here and I was whipping her so bad I decided to let it go.
My wife order a frozen margarita that she said tasted like water. The waitress took it back and brought out another one that my wife said was really strong. Maybe I should have handed my Lo-Jitos back, but at the time I couldn't tell there wasn't any alcohol. I figured it was made correctly where you couldn't taste the alcohol... my mistake I guess.
I will still come here from time to time to play Buzztime because this is the closest site to me. But I will think twice about ordering the food from the bar. I have eaten at the restaraunt side before and everything was delicious. Maybe the Bull Eye Bar needs a separate yelp section. But since it doesn't unfortunately they are treated as a whole.
I've had really bad service here and sometimes... really good service. It just depends on the waitresses moods honestly. I really do love the food though. They have awesome baked potato soup and this good bread loaf that they bring out. I have to only give it 2 stars though simply because of the inconsistency in service.
Review Source:I eat here occasionally and have been very happy with the service and how the server will allow me to modify the food to my dietary restrictions. Â I have to order my steak rare, SERIOUSLY RARE, in order to be able to eat it. Â It always comes out PERFECT, no kidding. Â One time I asked that the chef come out personally to thank him and let him know he did a stellar job grilling my steak. Â They even sent a dessert (on the house) which doesn't do any miracles for my waistline but I had a little bit and it was good too!!!!
Review Source:I went for lunch the other day with someone..  The waitress forgot several things EVEN AFTER BEING ASKED TWICE... That our lunch came with drinks, bread, NAPKINS AND SILVERWARE, and desert, even after we REMINDED HER SEVERAL TIMES!  The food was of course cold after it sat on the table for OVER 10 minutes while we asked again for silverware. We had to ask more than once for our drinks, napkins, silverware, the correct itemS that we ordered.  The waitress visibly  threw a fit and glared at us when I only tipped her $ 5.00, when she deserved nothing
We obviously did not get what we paid for..
The service was excellent, both the hostess and waitress were perfect, if I had a restaurant I would have been trying to steal them away. I just don't get service like that very often and on service alone I would give them 5 stars. The appetizer sampler was good the steaks were ok but nothing to rave about. I did not say anything about it and they cant fix what they don't know but there was this gnat flying around our table the whole time.
Review Source:If you order your steak ANYTHING more than 'medium', then please do not post a review complaining about how tough, tasteless and undercooked your steak was. Â Do all us beef-lovers a favor and just order the chicken or salmon from now on. Â Thanks!
I have visited this location several times while in the San Bernardino area on business and I have to say I agree with some of the posts about the service - 'unpredictable' would be a great description. Â I have had warm, welcoming service that was very attentive like this occasion and I've had the other end as well. Â My advice would be to ask for a WAITER instead of a WAITRESS. Â The gals here seem to have a lot more on their minds, unfortunately. Â Just my personal observation is all!
Sat in the bar tonight and was greeted immediately by the bartender. Â He took my order and not long after had my drinks on the table followed by my salad. Â 16 oz Ribeye was cooked medium-rare superbly! Â It was obviously a well-marbled cut of meat as it was juicy, very favorful and hardly any fat. Â The steak was grilled over a wood flame so it had a fantastic taste. Â Loaded backed potato was also great but improved with the addition of some of their homemade Ranch-style dressing! Â Delish!
They have lots of flat-screen TVs in the bar area that are easy to see. Â No problem changing the channel on any of them if you simply ask the bartender. Â Lighting at night is somewhat on the dark side, LOL, so I agree with Amaya's review that says it's perfect for adulterers. Â Haha. Â Overall, usually a great dining experience and food has always been right-on.
Black Angus seems perfect for adulterers. Seriously, the dark atmosphere has a dark seedy vibe to it. Â Perfect! Â No I'm not cheating, but great when I want to be alone or my makeup isn't applied properly.
I've never been to this Black Angus and seen a full house. Not exactly sure how they are still open.... Stuart Anderson must own the city.
Anywho, nevertheless this is a cool place to come to lunch from time to time. Â As you all may know they send weekly coupons in the mail which are great for those of us on a budget. And who isn't these days?
What's good is occasionally they offer a lunch deal coupon for between $8-$15, depending on the food choice. But don't fret coupon or no coupon they have lunch specials for the low-low like everyone else. For a few dollars more you get table service, now that fast food combos are $8.....
If you are short on time be weary. The service is slow more times then its not. Sitting in the bar area can get you in and out pretty quick, but inform your waitress ahead of time "I have an hour and I'm a good tipper... this is your mission if you choose to accept it". Very Mission Impossible. Rather you are a good tipper or not say it anyway. :)
I came here with the coworkers to celebrate administrative assistant day.  As we had limited time for lunch and had a large group, we preordered our food to be ready at the time we got there.  I got the grilled salmon with garlic mashed potatoes  and a Cesar salad. They gave a generous portion of Cesar salad and it was delicious.  The garlic mash was good but I didn't taste the garlic. The salmon was moist but salty.  Our waitress did a good job.  The front desk did give us some grief as the person tried to convince us to order when we got there and not preorder.  Overall I recommend coming here if you have a large group.
Review Source:Wow! What happen too Black Angus Steakhouse? Poor customer service thanks to the female hostess that works at the front desk. Has no clue what customer service is or for that matter provide quality service. The steaks and prime rib: too salty and too much fat. Cook did not cook to order: it sucked.Year's ago I enjoy going there for the nice atmosphere and good food: but needless to say, it is not good for the money spent or for their customer service. It needs a better manager and better Cooks. Next time I will not visit  Black Angus unless I want to throw my money away.
Review Source:Its kind of disappointing, I really liked this place back in the days. We only came here because we had a coupon. Happy hour is only at the bar area only. I ordered the prime rib with baked potatoes and house salad. Prime rib had A LOT of fat on it. 50% fat, but the flavor wasnt bad. Small. Waitress was kind of pushy. Was she off work soon and just wanted to get her last few dollars of tip in? We hadn't been there in forever so needed time to look at the menu. The couple next to us had to tell her to come back again as well.
Husbands steak was very disappointing. A good steak need no sauce. He needed a whole lot of steak sauce. No flavor, bland. The only good part was the dessert. The apple pastry fresh out of
over and ice cream.
I didn't have high expectations for this place, as I've never really like Black Angus. Â But I came here with my coworker for lunch because she likes the place. Â We were seated quickly, the wait staff was friendly and brought us drink refills really fast. Â We both ordered the prime rib burger and fries, and I added a wedge salad. Â Wedge salad is not hard to mess up so that was good. Â There was plenty of dressing, the lettuce was crisp. Â But it was a good thing I got reasonably full from my salad. Â The 2 onion rings that was over the fries were good, but the fries themselves tasted like oil, and overcooked. Â My burger was big, but lacked much flavor.
Review Source:We were on a date when we decided to finally visit Black Angus.
Ordered Prime Rib.
It took forever to get it. How much time does it take to bring out pre-cooked item?
It was one of those cases when the food arrives and you know right away that something is wrong.
It was cold and it looked not fresh. I can't explain it. It's just something about it.
It didn't taste like much either.
We spent some time trying to get rid of a huge fly who was trying to land on our food for a while. It was one of those big green ones that you see on the garbage outside. The waiter saw it walking by and didn't even say anything.
Within a couple of hours I got sick of my stomach. While still on the date!
I went for my husband's birthday. I had the 12 oz. teriyaki steak and he had the 16 oz. prime rib. The food was wonderful. Our server was excellent! My husband got the hot giant chocolate chip cookie a la mode as a free birthday dessert. THAT alone makes it worthwhile.
I mentioned to my server that we were in a hurry and she immediately took our card and the bill and rung us up. We were out of there within 3 minutes of stating our need.
The outstanding service is the best part of this restaurant. If not for the excellent service, I would have given this place 3 stars instead.
I came here with my mom and her old friend from college, who is rather picky when it comes to dining and the service she receives.
When the waitress brought the bread rolls to our table, my mom's friend complained and said they were old. I told her that this type of bread is meant to have a crisp crust and a soft center, and that I thought they were fine, but she made the waitress take them back and bring out new ones. The replacement rolls were the exact same thing, and the waitress even told us that they are always the same. Then my mom's friend got a bit dramatic and swore she had had better rolls at this restaurant. I felt a bit mortified, and my mom just sat there being quiet.
When we ordered our food, my mom's friend announced that some items were crap and tasted bad so she would therefore order "that" and not "that". I felt bad for the waitress, but she kept her professional composure the entire time, even after being barked at a second time over bread. After the waitress left, I got up and tracked her down and apologized for the woman's behavior. The waitress just laughed and said it was fine.
The food was not spectacular, but ti was good. However, their artichoke's were AMAZING. They are roasted, lightly salted and served with 2 dipping sauces. Since I eat very little I simply asked for an empty plate and helped myself to a bit of the salmon my mom ordered. It was fresh, tasty, and cooked beautifully. I also ate some of my mom's friend's prime rib, which was a lovely medium rare, moist, and exploding with flavor.
The only thing i truly hated about this place was that they played country music, which I loath. I understand the restaurant has a "country theme" to it, but forcing people to listen to that white-trash crooning crap was too much for me. But I just tried to block out the twang as much as I could.
I would come back to this place for the service alone.
Everytime I go home, I usually end up going to Black Angus with my parents. The coupons for dinner for two that are always mailed out make dinner a really good deal. The best thing is this dark sauce that comes with your prime rib that makes their (usually) overcooked steak taste great. The wagon wheel sampler is great too with their buffalo chicken strips and potato skins.
I swear their portions get smaller and smaller each time I go though.
I ordered the NEW YORK STRIP*, CENTER-CUT and it was just okay...The waitress was kind of annoying because she kept mentioning the fact that she would be right with us and it was like 4 times until she FINALLY gave us some service. She was just off of her game, totally I asked for some veggies as a side and she gave me something else. Ugh anyways, the only thing I like about this place is their smores dessert other than that its overpriced and honesty not worth the time and money.
Review Source:The Bullseye Bar at the Black Angus has become my favorite happy hour spot. Â The bar area has plenty of seating, including regular and wrap-around booths. Â Happy hour lasts till 7pm and offers half price appetizers, including the sampler, which is cool, because a lot of places exclude samplers from happy hour discounts. Â One of my favorite things about their happy hour is that all draft beer are the same price, even the beers that most places call "premium". Â I love that they have Sam Adam's Seasonal's on rotation. Â During football season, they have other specials that run past the normal happy hour time as well.
The staff is always friendly and always on their toes. Â I've never had a bad experience with any of the staff.
The Chipotle Buffalo Wings are awesome! Â Just the right amount of kick, not too hot for the taste buds, but don't touch your eyes.
I've sat in the regular dining area as well and have always been pleased with my visit. Â
I am very surprised by some of the reviews in here, for I have always been satisfied at this location and I've been there several times. Â I'd have to say that you try it for yourself.
The sports bar is probably their best thing going. Â I hate to agree with most of the other reviews, but they're fairly accurate.
I'll go there on a coupon special only. Â To be honest, you might as well save about 20 bucks and go to the Sizzler up the street on Waterman, about 1/2 mile north.
In the restaurant, the servers are indeed friendly, but slow. Â I also have gone in there 3-4 times in the last year, and it's dead inside. Â My hopes for good, intimate, speedy service have always been dashed though....I'm sorry, only on the speedy part, have I been disappointed.
The steak is average at best, and I honestly know (from friends telling me) that I grill a better seasoned steak than theirs. Â Their steak is farily bland.
The bar is a lot better or sports bar viewing though, and with that in mind, I'll bump the rating up from a 2 to a 3. Â The bartenders are friendly, quick, attentive, pretty, and lots of fun. Â Their happy hour specials are plentiful, and filling.
If you're down on Hospitality Lane in San Bernardino, then you might be happy strolling in there for the bar experience, but you'll be disappointed at the restaurant.
Stuck in San Bernadino for training...luckily I had black angus... more like unluckily... the place was dead and one would think ok good customer service... that was not the case almost like they forgot about us.
My co-workers went to the bar to get drinks and us left behind didn't even get offered a regular drink...
Major Weak Sauce!!!
I do believe the Simpsons sums it up the best:
Marge: Well, you might say we're going to the best steakhouse in the whole universe.
Bart: So we're not going to Black Angus...
Yup, folks, that right there says it all. Â Save yourselves the anguish & go ANYWHERE else to eat. Â Heck, go to Sundowners; that'd probably be better than this dive. Â How it is still open I have NO idea. Â
Service: Terrible
Food: Worse than service
Management: They have management?!
If you come here for steak you can save yourselves money by grilling a Reebok at home.
I realize there have not been many positive reviews about this place. It sort of baffles me because in the past year we've been here maybe 7-8 times and not encountered the same situations the other reviews have. Of the dozen plus times I've been here, only once have I had a bad experience or not enjoyed myself here.
Last night we ate here again. When we arrived, we had to wait a few minutes as they had a small line of people waiting to be seated. However it didn't take more than a few minutes and we were taken to a table. Our server (I think his name was Liroh), was friendly and helpful.
For drinks she ordered tea and I ordered a large Black and Tan. The Black and Tans here will usually be made well but I have had the occasional one that just seemed flat (thankfully this one was great!).
One of the staple entries here is the Campire Feast for Two (which includes any appetizer, an entre, and a desert). This normally costs 2 for $50 but we had our coupon that gave it to us for 2 for $38.
For the appetizer we went with the Wagon Wheel sampler platter.
For entre, my wife went with the Ribeye, baked potato soup, and garlic mashed potatos. For my entre I also went with the Ribeye but went with French Fries and Onion Rings.
Our appetizers and drinks arrived and we got our grub on. Just as we are about done with the appetizers, our food arrived (yay!). Our steaks were prepared as we'd requested (medium well for her, and medium for me). The fries weren't all that great but I did enjoy the onion rings. They remind me of Sonic's onion rings in a sense.
For desert we had the giant chocolate chip cookie with the ice cream scoop on it. Keep in mind that if you go with this selection, they will need about 5-10 minutes to bake the cookie, but it's really worth it. We are usually not big desert fans but when this arrived we ate it up. The cookie was warm and gooey and the ice cream just flat out complimented that.
Throughout our dining experience, our waiter checked in on us several times (mostly to give refills and if needed anything). I also observed the tables around us and noticed the other wait staff giving good attention and follow ups to them as well. The best part of this, I would say, is that the waiters worked with one another in making sure tables were attended to and refills were taken care of.
The total with everything came to around $53 with tax, which was a good savings considering if you tally up what it would have cost to order each thing individually. It's a great value for the price.
I hope that any Yelpers checking this place out will give it a chance. I too do not like bad service or food but in dozen+ times I've been here I have only had one bad experience.
Went here to eat dinner with the family. We use to frequent the Black Angus near the Tyler mall in riverside till it close so we decided to try this one.
The service wasn't horrible but it could have been better. Our waitress was nice but our drinks didn't get refill unless we asked and although she was nice and polite she seemed to be rushing.
As for the food..... unfortunately it didn't meet my expectations in any way. The food looked unappealing, there was little taste and the portions were small than I usually see at BA (although I didn't mind cause there was still more than enough food). This was by far the worst BA experience that I've had.
I high doubt we will return to this particular BA. I think we will try the Ontario location next.
This place is by far below standards on food quality and service. I have only been here twice and never again will I go.
My first experience here was just okay, food was bleh and service was horrible.
My second experience was definitely memorable. Long story short, the waitress was downright rude, threw the menus at us, talked down to us. We ended up leaving mid-order, talked to the manager and headed out to BJ's instead.
I will never be back to this "restaurant" again. Times are tough and the recession is hitting everyone, you would think any business would be clamoring to treat their PAYING customers with respect so they come back.
Maybe she was having a bad day, and if that was the case she should have called in sick.
(The manager did offer to "fix things", but the damage was done. Seriously.)
My boyfriend got a gift card to this place from work so we decided to use it.
I've been to this one and another location but I really really don't like it. My steak is always dry and none of the other food is really enticing enough.
However, it can't compare to any of the other steakhouses I've been too. If it wasn't for the giftcard I wouldn't even have bothered.
