Black pearl, Black Pearl, Black Pearl.... I want to love you. Â I really do.
My first dinner here was amazing. Â They had a gnocchi with rabbit con fit and a mozzarella foam that was insane. Â Â I've been back probably another 5 times and 3 of the meals were pretty bad while the other 2 ranged from OK to good.
I've had the pork belly which was 90% fat, under cooked and tasted like I was eating a bowl of lard. Â I've had the scallops which came out undercooked and flavorless.
I love their unique menu items, I don't mind the price and I would love to have a "foodie" restaurant in walking distance but I just can't justify spending $80 for a mediocre dinner.
Their menu is seasonal changes every couple weeks and it makes me wonder if they might not be better off finding their best dishes and sticking with them.
Service is hit or miss - we've had a great server, I think his name was Jeremy, a couple times and he was friendly and knowledgable. Â The last couple times we've had a no-nonsense server that didn't welcome us to the restaurant, explain the menu, etc. Â It's the small things people!
I'd probably give this place one more shot to change my mind.
