We have been to this place before and enjoyed the service and the food, however this weekend we went there and had the worst service and food ever!! Â First off, the host seated us in a section that was off-set from the general public and was freezing cold. Â We were seated by ourselves in a corner as to not disturb the rest of the place with our 3 children. Â HOWEVER, our children are VERY well behaved in eating establishments and the host was completely wrong in thinking that our children were going to disturb the place!! Â THEN, we received our food and it was awful!! Â I had the mushroom ravioli and it was overcooked and cheese was hard on top. Â My husbands chicken sandwich was dry and gross. Â Our daughters raviolis were not bad. Â I will NEVER go back to this place....HOW RUDE!!!
Review Source:If you are thinking of having a party in their party room
go elsewhere. Really really poorly organized. Poor presentation. Weekend manager dropped the ball big time. Was supposed to sent gift card to make up for the huge disappointment but never did. Owner needs to get more involved and actually see what going on in his restaurant
We drove in from Oswego because of a Groupon we bought. Â Loved the vibe in the place - it was sharply decorated and felt classy all the way around.
I'm a red meat and potatoes guy, so i was in my glory, the rib eye was amazing and i don't remember what type of potatoes I had.
Our waitress was attentive to our table and needs of our party. Â All in all, I left with a very favorable opinion and will most definitely go back again, soon I hope.
EXCELLENT! Was at Blackstone last week with my husband and everything--food, service, atmosphere, decor, ambience--was outstanding!! Just moved to Yorkville from Naperville about 6 months ago and we've tried all the restaurants in the area. Last week was the first time we went to Blackstone and what a surprise! We tried Stonefire first and never went back, we then went to Lakeview a couple times and it was just overpriced Greek food. We were ready to give up when our neighbor told us to try Blackstone. It was beyond what we expected at such an affordable price. This place belongs in Naperville! Â We started off the carpaccio appetizer which was outstanding. My husband had the Manhattan steak and I had the Tilapia topped with shrimp. Both dishes were amazinggg!! We can't wait to go back!
Review Source:Okay, but nothing all that special. Â The appetizers were so so. Â Nachos were bland, just ground beef on chips with a little melted cheese. Â Fried mushrooms were not made inhouse, calamari was good. Â My wife had the meatloaf, which was again, just okay. Â My daughter got tthe chicken stuffed tortelini, which was very good except it was a little too salty. Â It was $5 wine night, but it appeared to be about a 3-4 oz. pour. Â My brother-in-law ordered a "double" to get a normal glass of wine.
The best food I had here was the complimentary home made potato chips served at the bar.
If I am persuaded to go again, I'll most definately get a burger of steak per other rave reviews.
We had lunch there today. Â Tenderloin tournedos for me and 14 oz NY strip for him. Â His steak was pretty good, mine was awful. Â The brandy sauce was all garlic and oregano and just nasty. Â They try to come off as a fancy steak house...me thinks not. Â I'll stick with Gibsons or locally the Fireside in Sugar Grove. Â Pretty darn pricey for the quality of the food and did I mention that the waitress was a bit nuts? Â Might be ok for appetizers and drinks.
Review Source:The Blackstone is my favorite restaurant. Â We go there all the time. Â Love the sophisticated decor and classy ambiance. Â I never tire of the music. Â They have a great bartender serving quality beers on tap with a comprehensive wine list. Â The food is always great as is the service (though it was a bit mixed up the last time but she hustled to make everything right). Â Highly recommend.
Review Source:Went in for my birthday. Beef carpaccio was very good. Meatloaf was dry and flavorless. I could have made better myself. It seemed that it was hanging in the pass for some time as the plate was extremely hot. Gravy was tan and flavorless. Husband got a steak that was yummy as he shared a bite. Potatoes were ok. Supposed to be garlic mashed. Not very garlicky. Â Desserts were good. Chocolate cake and carrot cake. Hopefully they improve the meatloaf as the rest was pretty good. Waitress wasn't very attentive and she could have been since they weren't very busy. Other waitstaff seemed much better. Will try again if in the area.
Review Source:Perfect everytime! The chicken tortilla soup is to die for! Was going to order a mushroom pasta(please people keep your menu websites up-to-date!) but was told they did'nt have it. My waiter suggested a spinach ravioli that fit the bill. Always get the filet- never to disappoint. On check-out was automatically given a coupon special for dollars off. Very nice service!
Review Source:It was ok. Â Went there because the hotel recommended it, but I assume they are incentivized. Â Calamari was so so. The burgers were ok but the buns were greasy and sweet which was a little much for me. Â Fries were great. Also tried one of their mini martinis which was a great idea but it tasted like cough syrup.
Review Source:There are not a lot of choices around this area and this place is just OK.
There is nothing especially great, or bad, about this place. Pretty standard fair as far as the menu goes. They are not in the same league as some of the places mentioned in other posts.
The service was adequate. The waitress gave us a menu, took our order, brought us our food and check. Not much more in the way of personality, advice or presentation.
Charging $1.50 for blackening a steak is tacky. I'm not going to grumble about $1.50 but it makes them look second rate.
Blackstone In a word is: Adequate.
Awesome every time, and if it isn't, they fix it immediately.
This is our go-to spot in yorkville. Love about 99% of the menu.
One thing bugs me: the hand painted lettering on the wall is misspelled and the mens bathroom says "gentleMAN" and I've seen people waiting outside the door as if it's a single person bathroom. It's not, it's actually enough for multiple gentlemen. Haha.
Love the tall bar booths as well.
Went on Sunday for prime rib special. Â It was good, but not great. Â Customer service was just OK. Â It was not very busy at the time I was there, so I expected great service, but did not receive it. Â I had to wait a long time and a portion of the meal was cold. Â I will not go back.
Review Source:We were very please with our experience. It was a Saturday night and we didn't have to wait very long at all. Our food was wonderful!! My husband had the New York Strip and I had the filet Tornadoes, both were very good and could stand up to Sullivans or Gibsons any day. The server we had was very nice and offered right away to put in our childrens (5 & 1 1/2 Yrs.) food. Within minutes it was out. As we eat out 3-4 times a week this restaurant really stands out above the rest. I have never reviewed a restaurant before but this one was worth writing for!!!
Review Source:I use to love going here with my husband but customer service seems to be going downhill.
I ordered a dish that was really salty and just did not taste good. Â When I complained the manager told me they made 13 of those dishes that day and I was the only one to complain. Â They didn't do anything about it. Â It frustrated me and I have not been back.
Before that experience we would go because the food is normally great and it's a good dining experience. Â Hopefully you wont order anything you do like because they will not help you :(
Visited Blackstone for the second time last week. Our first visit was over a year ago.
Our experience overall was just okay. Our service didn't knock our socks off. We sat in the bar area and it took slightly longer than it should for drink refills. For a week night, we both felt the service was a little slow.
We ordered calamari and found it to only be okay. I've had better calamari at chain restaurants. Soup and bread were included with the entree my boyfriend ordered and our server forgot to bring it. Our server was very apologetic and did send us home with a free dessert.
Our meals were both good. My boyfriend ordered the ribs and they were delicious. The garlic mashed potatoes... only okay. I had the Philly wrap which was pretty good. The fries served with the wrap were great. Price points were a little on the high side in my opinion.
I'm not saying we won't return... it is just not likely we'll become regulars.
I have been to Blackstone several times - the food is delicious, service is usually good. I did have one bad experience lately - we had a large group for my husband's birthday, we had reservations and I was very careful to call back with exact numbers a few days  before since the number was changing slightly as people made plans. The meal was great, we had 2 servers for our group and we let them know right away it would be separate checks - the group was made of twosomes and one foursome. They thanked us for the heads up and proceeded to take our orders on individual tickets - they would jokingly go to one couple and say, "You are couple #1" and take the order, we all had a great time. Until it was time for the check - we waited for about 30-minutes after we were done with dinner and plates cleared before anyone came back. Two people in our party actually had to wander around the restaurant for 10-minutes and had to ask where our servers were. They finally came back and distributed checks - at least 3 couples had an extra drink on their checks, and we found out what took them so long. Because we had separate checks they couldn't add the automatic 18% gratuity on the whole bill - so they were in the back manually adding 18% tip onto each bill and hand-writing it in! Several people complained about the incorrect bills and the wait to get the bills - the servers came out several times to ask people what they  had for dinner and how many drinks they had (!!) and the manager came out to "apologize" but basically scolded us for having a large group and separate checks. The manager and the servers kept insisting that's what was taking so long - to split up the checks. BUT - we told them in advance and the took our orders separately, so they didn't need to split anything up - it took them so long because they were writing in their own tips! At this point we were all cranky and annoyed - we finally got everything straightened out and left. It left a bad taste in my mouth for this place - I have had good experiences there in the past, for a small group like 2-4 ppl it would be fine - but if you're having more than 4 it might get dicey.
In the long run - they probably got much worse tips by trying to add in their own tips rather than just giving us our checks as is and letting us tip ourselves. In our group of 14 or so, there were about 4 former-servers. We KNOW it's not hard to run separate checks when you TAKE the orders as separate checks, and I would have given a MUCH better tip had they not done this.
My family and I dined at Blackstone last evening. Â It was our first time there and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Â The decor was very nice with a lovely atmosphere, prompt friendly service and the quality of the food was outstanding. Â
I've eaten at many of the popular steakhouses in the city, Chicago Chop House, Ditka's and Wildfire to name a few, and I would say the quality of the food at the Blackstone doesn't take a back seat to any of them.... and at a substantially lower price.
My wife had the London Broil and she said it was wonderful. Â The meat was very tender and tasty and and had an excellent tasting sauce over the top. Â My aunt had a filet that was cooked to perfection and very tender. Â I had the Manhattan NY Strip which was excellent and prepared with a fried onion topping that was surprisingly good.
The Blackstone also has a child's menu for the kids. Â We brought along our 10 year old daughter who had the cheese quesadilla and french fries and she cleaned her plate.
As I mentioned, the prices I thought were very reasonable. Â The adult entrees ran from $15.95 (London Broil) to $22.95 (filet) and included a soup or salad and a potato. Â The same filet in the city will cost you over $30 with sides being ala carte.
No doubt about it. Â We will be making a return visit to Blackstone Bar & Grill !
I enjoy the upscale atmosphere and I think it is the nicest restaurant in Yorkville. I feel that the food is average and the menu is limited especially if you are looking for lighter foods. It can be on the pricey side as well. It has an excellent bar area that my wife and I enjoy having a drink and dessert to end the night.
Review Source:My rating says three stars, but I want to give it 3.5 stars in reality. Â
The interior of the restaurant is very nice. Â Honestly, it looked a lot more upscale than I anticipated it to be by its name. Â Saying it's a "bar and grill" doesn't seem to do Blackstone justice. Â I agree with Michelle L that Blackstone Smokehouse would be more fitting.
They have a vast selection of food items. Â Oh, and the martini selection at Blackstone is good as well.
Overall, I do plan on going back to Blackstone Bar and Grille again.
I liked the atmosphere on the bar side. They have a wide screen tv with beautiful and kind bartenders. The food (keep in mind I'm a vegetarian) was delicious. Actually what I usually order are the appetizers. I can't stand smoke so I felt the bar was very nicely ventalated. Great place to hang out or take out on a date. Nice people.
