Blue Bird is the best alternative to Family Karaoke!
We usually end up here if we forget to reserve at Family. There's always a room, but warning...it will be more expensive. If that doesn't bother you, head here. The place may seem small, but the rooms are huge. A couple of them come with drum sets (Be wary, though...they charge for that, too...) The staff is pretty nice, but it'd be safer if you spoke Korean/had some Korean friends so you can make sure you're not getting an unneeded expensive room. Oh, and the song selection here is as good as, and in some cases better than Family.
The place is exactly as my rating states, "A-OK." Â I'm an American and I don't have too much of a problem since I usually only go with no more than 5 people so we usually do end up in the small room for $20. Â The place is pretty decent and there usually isn't ever a wait. Â So if Family Karaoke is packed, I'd highly recommend this place if you just want a place to sing and don't really care too much about environment and alcohol. Â I wouldn't recommend the soju here because when I had Pineapple soju it was, Pineapple Fanta and soju mixed...I didn't enjoy the whole soda part of it since I'm use to other places using real pineapple juice with soju. Â Overall, if it's a great place to just sing your butt off and the light shows in the room are pretty fun too, not too much happening outside the karaoke room though so don't get too excited about it.
Review Source:Do you like used  car salesman?
We stumbled into this place because it was a more convenient location and the excitement of it not being reviewed on Yelp intrigued me. Â Well, unless you know something is brand new, a good rule of thumb would probably be to stay away from unreviewed businesses. Â
The biggest problem with this place is that it is really targeted for Korean Koreans...as a Korean American, my elementary Korean wasn't enough to make me feel comfortable, and I'm only half sure that it mattered with the 2nd problem - it's overpriced. Â $30/room/hour for the exec suites....$20/hour for the other smaller rooms. Â Of course, our host instantly whisked us away to the executive suite without asking us what we wanted - it was much larger than the 6 of us needed, with a drum set! Â There is a limited number of songs that are only arranged by song title, and only a small portion of the three song books is in English- the rest is in Korean. Â Drinks were also consistently expensive and a commitment - you have to buy a bucket of 10 beers for $40 or soju at $15/bottle....Soju is one of the crappiest alcohols out there, and it retails in Korea for $1 a bottle. Â Of course afterwards, the hostest with the leastest goats us into giving her a tip, by giving me the largest bills in change repeatedly. Â
Normally, being the 1st to review an establishment is a thrill, but I feel like a chump here. Â Don't be a chump like me. Â Go to Family Karaoke - it gets 4.5 stars!
