Pretty good bar...decent selection of craft beer, scotch and wine. Scotch is a bit pricey....

I really love the ambiance and their bottled beer selection is pretty good. It's a bit on the pricey side, but the employees seem to be very knowledgable about their products. A knowledgable staff is always great when you are looking to try some new beers.

The wine list is a bit small, but it is organized well and my fiancee thoroughly enjoys the Malbec they offer.

We haven't tried any of their mixed drinks, so I can't comment on those, but over all this is a nice and relatively quiet bar to relax and have a few drinks.

While visiting my parents in Midland we decided to stop by Blue Door for  pre-dinner cocktails. I think the atmosphere is something unique and fun for Midland (simple, haute, hip) and the cocktails range from fun, funky, fresh and elegant. If you like whiskey or scotch you will adore their extensive selection. Because it was a beautiful winter day we sat outside (boy, is this fun to say when you are from Chicago - outside in winter) on their patio with heaters, but the inside looked very chill and hip and I would have enjoyed that too.

We arrived around 4:30 pm and they were hopping! As I mentioned we sat outside to enjoy the weather. There were a few large tables coming in and the staff seemed a little rushed and hectic (which we soon found out many staff had not made it in due to the flu that has been going around and they were short staffed). We ordered a bourbon on the rocks, martini and a whiskey sour which took quite a while to receive but the server apologized profusely and comped our drinks (!). Not long after that the manager, or owner, came by to apologize for our delay (of which we hardly noticed) and welcomed us. What a completely refreshing and genuine display of hospitality we received! We only stayed for our one cocktail because we had reservations but I left with a smile on my face.

Blue Door gets two thumbs up in my book for inventive cocktails, a sleek atmosphere and genuine Texas hospitality.

I stumbled upon this place while visiting my boyfriend's family in Midland. After hearing about all the stabbings and fights happening in Odessa and nearby, I was very happy to find a bar full of young, hip people. I felt as if I had been transported home, to one of the cool adult bars in Houston. The drinks are pricey, but they are equally strong and the waitstaff is attentive and happy to explain the menu and make suggestions for you. Try the blind pig if you want to shoot almost straight whiskey. I recommend this bar for people looking for a chill bar full of young, good looking people.

Atmosphere is casual. Nothing fancy, honestly...I expected more. The drinks are on the expensive side - but my drink was excellent. Be warned...if you run a tab, there is an automatic 20% gratuity added to your bill (fine print on drink menu).

Amazing upscale cocktail bar with delicious new drinks nearly every week. I have taken my friends from out of town and out of state and loved the service and the cocktails!

Went the other night for first time. It is interesting and the drink (Gin based) was fresh and custom as they say. Some things would make it even better. We do not agree with it being quiet.....rather loud and echoey. Ok the pendant lights are hip and modern....but walls very stark and need some art or something else. For the price point the drinks could at least by filled more - or maybe get smaller glasses if thats it. It looked as if some may have spilled out from the bar to the table. They ought to at least during some of the time have have a menu item of finger food - soft pretzels / meat/cheese dish or platter  Notthing big, and it does not require a huge kitchen operation. Unless that is there during the happy hour?? We will try again...

Very nice place! The inside is big and open with lots of seating. The atmosphere is laid back, it can get noisy but usually the noise level isn't too bad. Every experience here has been relaxed and comfortable. Every member of the staff that I've dealt with has been helpful, attentive, and very friendly.
I'm a beer fan, and The Blue Door always has a good selection of beers to choose from. It would be even better if they had a few on tap. I usually stick to beer, but the mixed drinks I have tried here have been fantastic!
A great staff, a nice selection of drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere make this a fantastic place to get together for a good time.

The atmosphere is really great; it feels like you are in a Dallas or Houston bar. They have tables with booth seating and some other low table seating and outside there are tables where you can bring your dog. Both areas are nonsmoking, which is great for Midland. I hurried off work on Tuesday (their opening day to the public) to make their happy hour from 4-6 pm, which was a little disappointing because not all their drinks were the happy hour prices, so we did not order anything that was part of the happy hour. They have specialty drinks; they range from $8-$10 and are on the small side. The table next to us, came for happy hour and they were shocked at their bill because they did not know the specialty drinks were not part of the happy hour, which our severer explained the drink menu to us when we were ordering. I think if they want more people to come back and more people in there, they should for happy hour offer like $2 off their specialty drinks, so people will not be turned off. The staff was very attentive and welcoming. We had ordered a drink and it was a little off putting by the taste so we asked for a different drink, which when we got the bill we were charged the $10 for that drink and the new $8.5 drink, which we think it was a mistake and we did not let the waitress know.  We were there for a few hours and had a great time. We will defiantly be back with more friends and maybe with the dog.
