My family has been here several times. We almost always take up a corner of the bar and settle in for a good time. Order a drink from the friendly bar tenders, where they always greet you with a smile and your name (and if your my dad, a glass of Crown). We usually end up ordering a couple appetizers, and my absolute favorite is the italian stuffed peppers. The peppers are long green peppers, stuffed with italian sausage and topped with lots of cheese. They are so yummy and have just a hint of heat. I also enjoy their chicken fingers too.
If we are really hungry, we order an entree, which is a great value because you get a salad, soup, and your meal. I have gotten the prime rib special many times before and it is very good. The fish dinners are also really good.
Their bar is nicely set up and is stocked with everything, and everything is reasonably priced (Grey Goose and soda for $4.44, YES please!). They also offer a "One-a-day" drink club for around $30 - $35 dollars, which gets you 1 free drink per day. I think that is an excellent value.
But onto my favorite thing at the Blue....pull tabs. We have spent numerous occasions  pulling the tabs and, seemingly more often than not, pulling out a $100, $200, or even $300 winner. That sure spices up the evening :)
All in all, I love coming here with my family when I am in town, and recommend it highly.
First of all, out of all fairness, my husband enjoyed his meal of walleye, and said he would give it 4/5 stars. Â This review, however, is simply for *my* meal experience here.
I ordered the steak and mushrooms, which was an utter, utter disappointment. Â I felt the meal's preparation was entirely lazy. Â Now, when I think of mushrooms with a steak, I think of those juicy button mushrooms pan-fried in butter, garlic, and pepper. Â Anyway, as soon as the server brought my plate, I just KNEW by looking at the mushrooms blanketing my steak, the meal was going to suck. Â The mushrooms they used were those nasty gelatinous mushrooms from a CAN. Â Yes, they used canned mushrooms. Â They had no flavor, they were disgusting. Â I only forced myself to eat three or four.
The steak was an insult. Â Tough, tough cut of meat. Â I only ate a little over a fourth of it. Â It also was not seasoned and was very, very bland. Â
The french fries were about 98% like McDonald's fries, except not as thick. Â Weird...
I told my husband when we were there, "I could have just bought a cheap cut of crappy meat and dumped a can of mushrooms over it myself. Â It would have been cheaper." Â I was so pissed and hungry. Â I came hungry as I trusted the other four reviews that I would be eating well. Â Lies. Â I left hungry, too. Â Hubby had to take me to Dairy Queen for a milkshake. Â I had to eat something before the "Twilight" movie!
Anyhoo, if you come, don't order the steak. Â Gross.
I would also like to add the dinners were supposed to come with ROLLS. Â Instead, they served us cold garlic bread...? Â Even grosser.
The quality of the atmosphere is exceeded only by the value of the food and friendly service. Â
We had the all you can eat fish (three courses $10) tonight and received a free bang bang shrimp ($8). Â Our server was incredibly observant delivering each course seamlessly. Â
We talked with the hostess who as it turns out has owned and ran this amazing place for over 30 years!
This is my first review and I can't say enough great stuff about this place.
