I'm always surprised by how good the food is! During Philly's resturant week the chef even had some fabulous menu choices. My husband loves the craft beer selection. Even I've found some beers to enjoy. We had a great time playing Quizzo last night. They offer $1.75 draft beers and $4 pizza on Thursday nights starting at 8:30 for the Quizzo competition. I'm really starting to love The Borough Pub.
Review Source:I'm always excited to see new places open up in the Borough, so we knew we'd have to give it a try!
The place is clean, our waitress was really nice, and they have a pretty good selection of food that everyone seemed to enjoy. They even have dessert -- our group tried the Funnel Cake Fries and LOVED them!
As a fan of darker beer, I enjoyed their offering Brooklyn Brown Ale, but was a little disappointed to see no Porters, or Stouts on the draft or bottle list!
A great place to grab a beer & a lager after work close to home!
So we decided to finally check the pub. Â Before we went my FIL said "Oh, I've heard bad things about this place", hmm..Then we pick up our friends and they say, well our family went last night (Saturday) and they waited an hour and half for food. Well maybe it was a busy night, nope they told us. They were the only ones there.
The place looks awesome! What a great job on the remodel. Â We came and the sign says "Seat yourself". Â Well welcome to you too! We were very wary and on edge when it took our waitress some time to bring over the menus. Â But she was on point with drinks and orders. So we definitely started to relax a bit. Â Looks like we were lulled into a false reality. Â The wait began!!! Waited about thirty minutes for the appetizers, we were the only table, then another thirty to forty minutes for the main meal. Â We were the only table there! Â In the meantime we did not see our waitress once. The server brought over our food and was so confused. Â It was kinda of gross watching him investigate our food to see who got what. Â Dude, your only job is to serve the food. Â But I must say from the french fries we ordered to our main course was delicious! I just couldn't figure why our french fries took forever to come out. Shouldn't that already be ready to go in a pub? Â Oh and potato chips served with all the sandwiches, kinda lame! Charge me an extra dollar for fries, I'm sure people will pay it.
After dinner, we decided to make our way to the bar. Â Ahhh, the great mystery of the slow service was discovered! The entire, and I mean the entire, wait staff was at the bar drinking! Don't these people watch Bar Rescue, this is a big no no. I leaned over and said the only person missing is the cook...And as if comedic timing, what appeared to be one of the kitchen staff came out of the back, yucked it up with some of his fellow coworkers grabbed a beer, took a shot and went back into the kitchen. Â Now you might ask yourself, how did I know the entire staff was at the bar? The shirts with the logo "Bristol Borough Pub" kind of gave it away. Â Oh and the oh so confused server, was up at the bar drinking right along with the rest of them...
Excellent food and service. Great place to watch the game and grab some grub. Plenty of seating and 2 bars. Has a decent collection of craft beer on tap and bottle. Food menu is pretty extensive with lots of variety. As a Bristol resident I'm really glad such a great new business moved into the area. This place has already made me a regular.
