Breckenridge Brewery

All Breckenridge Brewing locations are awesome, but there's just something about this spot in the Town of Breckenridge that makes me pull in each time I'm in town.  The beers are great, of course, and the food is always good.  But if you can get on the upstairs patio on a sunny day, you just can't find anyplace better.  Soaking up the beautiful views of Breck while having a cold craft beer is the simple awesome.   If you want a snack, the wings are good and the beer cheese fries are amazing.  Seriously, I don't even have words for how decadent and delicious those fries are.  Yum!

The menu has gone through a few changes this year, and not all for the better. Gone is my beloved veggie burrito. The menu has grown smaller, and seems like it's aiming to be a little more upscale, which to me is not why I come to this brewery. I liked the old pub-fare options more. As such, my favorite menu item is still the burger and that's been the most consistent thing I've eaten over the last few months, or even last few years. Everything else, including new menu items, seems to have gone up in price and way down in portion size. We've also had some iffy service at times, even when business is slow. However, service at the bar is always stellar though it can be tough to get a seat there when it's crowded. Our favorite bartender has worked there for 20+ years, so they must be doing something right with their employees, which I appreciate and respect. So, I still love the beers (especially the brewery-specific ones, which are plentiful, creative and ever-changing), love the burger, love the patio and love hanging out at the bar. Can't beat the $8 growler refills! Pints and pitchers are still a steal during happy hour. It's just not my go-to or my only recommendation to out-of-towners anymore because my experiences recently have been so mixed.

This is a pretty standard stop for me whenever I hit Breckenridge, whether I want good brewery meal or just need to grab some beer for the weekend.  Unfortunately, it's also a standard stop for everybody else.  It gets pretty crowded, and it seems the last few times I've stopped in for weekend supplies it's looked half barren.

Still, the beers are consistently good and the food is equally reliable in flavor and quality.  The employees are obviously happy here, because they're friendly and helpful.  The only real downside is the crowd, but I don't fault the brewery for that.  I don't think there's ever been a time I've skipped this place when I'm in town, and doubt there will be in the future.
