We were here back in October and the pizza was awesome. When we got here tonight, we noticed their menu had changed significantly. My boyfriend ordered chicken fried steak, I ordered chicken caesar salad, and my boyfriend's son ordered a blt sandwich. Well, the blt sandwich was great. My salad was sopping in extremely oily "caesar" dressing (I asked if it was Italian dressing and she insisted it wasn't.) My boyfriend got his chicken fried steak and it was orange and on a bun. The waitress sat it down in front of him and said, " Is this what it's supposed to look like?" I would think the WAITRESS should know! So she walked away and we sat there and looked at it for a while and came to the conclusion that it was a buffalo chicken sandwich. We called her back and told her and she took it to get a new one. When she brought it back she actually said "Yeah, that was the first time the cook had that ordered so he didn't know what it was. I think he just guess." Really?!?! So this chicken fried thing was supposed to come with two and it didn't. But it did come with the largest portion of mashed potatoes we had ever seen that was smothered in the thickest, gross, largest portion of beef gravy. We didn't even bother to ask for a manager because every time we asked to waitress about something she just said sorry, shrugged, and walked away. Needless to say, we will not be going back there.
Review Source:Brickhouse Pizza Pub should really come clean and say they're more of a bar than pizza. To be precise,"the only way to get our liquor license was to have a food component but don't expect it to be anything above mediocre."
I've driven by here many times but, until today, had never attempted to stop in. I completely regret my decision.
My boyfriend and I went here earlier today for dinner. I had a <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2FRestaurant.com&s=0aab4cbd731f3d3b0d1453050d3abc56a8c80bd214e25469c7555b750dca8a51" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://Restaurant.com</a> coupon which was sitting in my desk for some time and thought it was time to use it up.
After being seated,we were told since it was "BOGO Pizza Night",the coupon couldn't be honored if we wanted, guess what, pizza. I wasn't particularly feeling pizza anyway,so it was OK, but there should be some sort of heads-up either on the coupon itself or as you walk in wouldn't go amiss. Our server seemed a bit annoyed by the fact we even presented it to her, reluctantly taking it like a dirty tissue.
The apps were mediocre. We ordered the Pleazer Platter, their sampler tray of fried foods a la  mushrooms, mozz sticks, poppers, onion rings and wings. It was standard Sysco Food Service fair but it's pretty hard to fuck up pre-packaged,"deep-fry 'n' serve" grub. Their buffalo wings looked and tasted pathetic. My boyfriend loves fried chicken/buffalo wings and when he took that first bite, the look on his face was immediate and telling. He said they tasted "very uninspired". I agree with a previous post that the flavor disappeared almost instantly after biting into them. And who'd of thought ranch dressing could truly be made (more) boring? Apparently,at Brickhouse,it's either homemade(I doubt it) or from a mix. Whatever the case,it had almost zero taste.
The entrees were also "just OK". I had the chicken Philly, boyfriend the Moo-Cluck-Oink Burger, which is just a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg on it. My Philly was meh. It was pretty cheesy but ,again, that lack of flavor reared its ugly head. The chicken breast had no seasoning and the green pepper overload almost dominated the entire sandwich. It was less a philly and more like a Italian beef with chicken in its place. Add to this, it was dry and I wasn't offered any au jus to make it more savory. My boyfriend's burger was also just meh. Even with the pretzel bun,he said it wasn't enough to make it stand out, saying he had MUCH better burgers from Jody's or Sonny's Delite over on Essington. At least our fries were hot and crispy.
Whilst slogging through our meal,a neighboring table of six asked us if they could borrow our sugar caddy. Apparently, their server, who was also our server, never brought it to them after being asked several times. The server didn't notice that mine was now missing and the six top had one.
Half way thru our meal I excused myself to the ladies room, that was clean enough, but was missing toilet paper in both stalls. I was already felling that Brickhouse was a mistake for dinner, but now I was just pissed off. Halfway through the dinner, the BF and I decided enough was enough and wanted to make tracks.
The straw that broke the camel's back is when the server presented the check and wanted to advise me on how much to tip. "Please make sure to tip pre-coupon total" and not post. Shitty food and attitude from a 40 ish server in a much too short AND torn denim skirt was not my idea of an enjoyable night. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone if my life depended on it. It's one thing when a bar provides quality food to compliment their drink specials. Brickhouse is just another nondescript Joliet bar that pretends to be a restaurant. And fails.
I say, Brickhouse "Pizza" Pub will be closed within a year, with or without the so-called new management that one of the other reviewers posted.
