I'm a pretty non-picky individual when it comes to a night out on the town.. but then again I'm from Baltimore not Fred Vegas. Came to Fred to visit some friends and they took us to Brock's for a good time. My first issue was the fact that there was a $5 cover charge and there were only about 50 people in the entire place. I mean.. there aren't even cover charges in packed Baltimore bars. Meh..But I can say though, that the drinks are far underpriced compared to the big city, so Brocks can be appreciated in that sense.
The Crowd. You'll either find some mad creepers or older individuals chilling out with their hubbies and enjoying the young whipper snappers making fools of themselves. Super friendly crowd, just keep a lookout for that one creep that will literally follow you from one side of the dance floor to the other (no means no, bro). Also important to mention that DJ was kind of a jerk and only plays the music he wants to spin and doesn't really adhere to the crowd. Overall, I'd come back with my Fred friends but it would probably not be my first choice.
My husband and I went here for lunch one day and had a good experience. They weren't busy at all as we were among the first customers after opening. I had the lunch special Roast Beef Sandwich, which consisted of roast beef with pepper jack cheese and a cajun remoulade sauce, served with french fries. I was very happy with my meal and with the service, our waiter was very friendly. My husband had the Tuna Sandwich lunch special which was grilled ahi tuna with swiss cheese and herb mayo on sourdough, also served with fries. He was also very happy with his meal. We'd absolutely go back to Brock's!
Review Source:This is a great place to meet your friends for happy hour in the Spring and Summer. Â Brock's has a large deck that overlooks the Rappahannock River and offers full bar and food service. Â A DJ is usually on the deck playing top 40 tunes. Â If sitting outside to dine or drink is not your thing, also available are a fancy-schmantzy dining room and a big, noisy bar area with lots of tables.
The service is always good. Â I do not have a complaint about the service in my 10 years of patronage. Â In fact. Brocks' servers and bartenders are some of my favorite people in downtown Fredericksburg. Â They take the time to get to know their returning customers.
The food quality is a little inconsistent based on who is in the kitchen. Â Steaks are usually cooked to perfection - but not always. Â That makes it a risk for me because the menu is rather pricey. Â The menu choices are standard American fare. Â A couple of options are available for vegetarians too. Â I hear wonderful reviews about the crabcakes, but I have not had them. Â The bruschetta and chicken tortilla soup are highly recommended.
