I came here on a sunday expecting an Irish pub (as the front window says). Being a Sunday morning I expected it to be quieter than an Irish pub might be on a Saturday night, but it was too quiet. It was like a hospital recovery room or something. I even asked the waitress if there was usually no music and if it was always so quiet. "I don't know" she said. Maybe she's new.
Anyway, I got a club sandwich and it, was not a club sandwich. It was a chicken breast, with bacon and swiss cheese on marble rye. I guess its not a big deal, but it is also not a club sandwich. I did think their gimmickry was funny though. Everything is so plain and boring, but they try to spice it up by giving routine ingredients these silly names like "Blarney Mayo."
Overall, the food is incredibly boring. The sandwich was accompanied by maybe 7 or 8 "steak fries." It was not filling or tasty, but it did come with complimentary gas and bloating that has lasted all day.
If I could do it again, I would have gotten something at Wawa and skipped overpaying for something so boring.
Fair. Â Just fair. Â My girlfriend got the Fish and Chips, which was "award winning" (Maybe years ago). Â Fish was overcooked and basic Sysco grade. Â I got the Shepherds Pie, it was quite good though. Â The staff was attentive. Â It was a Sunday night, so the joint was deader than John Candy. Â I was looking to do some drinking, but just couldn't get in the mood. Â I couldn't bring myself to give 3 stars based on the subpar food.
Review Source:We stopped in for dinner around 6:30pm on a Saturday night with my wife and children. The location is excellent in downtown Fredericksburg. We waited at the door for about 5 minutes to be seated even though the restaurant was almost empty. The Wait staff was not the most inviting and maybe just having a tough night but we were finally told to sit anywhere. Service was painfully slow. My wife had a burger, I had the chicken and my kids had the Fish and Chips. They were out of brown bread for the night and we received no substitute. Fish and chips were good, chicken was dry, obviously precooked then reheated, and the burger was awful, I mean day old, precooked awful. It took an hour and a half to get served and get out. Dinner menu was way overpriced for the quality of food.
I understand the lunch might be better. After the service we received, I doubt we will be eating there again. Might stop in for a pint and enjoy the Irish music but unless they change the service and quality of food, we will not be eating there again. Many better options when looking to eat out in downtown Fredericksburg.
