As a third hookah cafe in the Fredericksburg area, I was really excited to see great things from a new place such as Kabab City. Because it just has started up, there isn't a lot of business as of this writing but I figured there would be potential.

Similar to other places as Aladin's and Pizza King, there is also a fine dining section and the smoking section for hookahs. It has a smaller menu than either place but what they have for food is okay. I also came to try their hookahs here, and they taste pretty good. I'd say the decor in the restaurant is the nicest in the place, with nice red walls and pictures of famous musicians from days past.

However, the biggest reason I'm giving only one star is my problem with the pricing of the hookahs. They are ten dollars which isn't bad if you think about it, but the catch is that each coal you put on the hookah costs 3 dollars. You could easily purchase a roll of coals from a tobacco store for 3 dollars with about 10 coals each. So if you enjoy hookahs, be prepared to shell out 3 dollars per coal, which then makes the hookah cost around 16-19 bucks for a proper session. I've been all over this state when it comes to hookah lounges and this is so far the only place I've seen charge for coals. It's kind of a given that coals themselves don't last long and are very cheap, so I'm not sure if the owner is charging them out of ignorance or thinking he can get away with it because many people don't know hookahs at all. This kind of thing just seemed insulting and arrogant.

If a business tries to get extra money by getting away with something that should be free, that can carry into other areas too. It makes me question the rest of the sales then. Will that mean it'll carry into prices that are too high while going for cheaper ingredients?

I may return again, but not in the near future.
