I only go to the bar side so I can't comment on the service on the restaurant-only side.
I like Hard Times. Â The beer is very cold and fresh. Â Yeah, that's a requirement. Â A lot of places in town has warm or skunky tap beer. Â Hard Times replaces their lines and you get a good beer. Â There are specials on just about every night of the week and their happy hour is $2 for a large glass of beer. Â It's more than a pint.
The food: Â I hear so many people say the chili is the best. Â I don't get that. Â I find it very subpar, especially for a chili place. Â Their Texas chili is greasy. Â Other options are Cincinatti, Terlingua Red and Veggie. Â I prefer th e Terlingua as it's like normal chili. Â Others prefer Cincinatti as it has a cinnamon flavor. Â I don't like a bowl of chili from this place. Â I find it boring. Â I do like it on top of something like a frito pie or a chili dog. Â The chili mac is the best.
Also, they always have a food special happening. Â Some better than others. Â They have a burger night on Mondays and the burgers are very good. Â It's all-you-can-eat chili on Tuesdays. Â I once ate a bowl and they gave me another to go which I took home and put on my own spaghetti. Â Wednesday's is wing night. Â Their wings are just ok. Â They don't suck but you won't rave about them.
The service at the bar is great. Â Bartenders are cool and they serve you quickly. Â They pay attention to their customers. Â Service at the tables is iffy, usually on the bad side of iffy. Â They girls are hired more for their looks than their waiting skills. Â But I must say, often their looks make up for it.
It's a great place to watch a game. Â Sometimes there are bands, some good and some not so good. Â They have a blues band every Tuesday which is sort of an open mic blues thing. Â Biggest problem with that is you always hear the same songs. Â Sundays is karaoke and it's usually brutal to sit through that.
I recommend Hard Times, unless you're a non smoker, for a place to hang out at night, or during the day, and having a beer.
Went here on a suggestion of a townie and couldn't be happier. Fun bartenders and great food. I suggest the southern fried chicken sandwich with loaded tater tots while my friend had one of the chilies which he stated was awesome. Lots of beers on tap. Pool tables and dart boards soft tip and hard tip. Sick location just be weary where you park as there are stupid people in this world and you might get a door ding from drunks heading home. Definitely coming back when I'm back in this area working!!!
