First off, a lot of people are saying "kid-friendly bar." Â Why the Hell are you looking for a kid-friendly bar? Â Stop taking your kids to bars! Â
Second and it should be mentioned shortly into a review as I'm sure most people don't read the long-winded reviews: Â NO LIQUOR. Â They do not have a liquor license. Â Now they've been saying for two years they'll get one soon but they still don't have one. Â I've talked to the employees and they acknowledge that hurts their business. Â People come for one drink and leave. Â Also, a lot of girls don't drink beer. Â You need girls in your bar to have a successful bar.
As for the decor: Â It's awesome. Â Some people complain about that? Â It's a hippy rock and soul 60's-70's vibe. Â I think it's awesome. Â If you love rock and roll and rock and roll history, you'll dig the atmosphere.
They have a small tap selection but a huge bottled and can selection. Â This place is not pretentious. Â The food is very good. Â Not great, but good. Â Their gumbo and cornbread is very nice. Â I've had nachos and they're decent.
The service is good. Â I think a place like 909 might give you a different experience from visit to visit with service. Â But you don't have rude servers.
Small seating. Â Tiny long building. Â Outside seating for smoking and you can sit out there with your dog.
The music venue in back is cool. Â Warning, Â your cell phone may not work in the back. Â Bad reception. Â Just something I noticed.
They have good music from bands to solo performers to open mics. Â They stop most music pretty early as they have neighbors who complain. Â Really? Â Why rent a place next to a bar if you have issues with noise?
There is only one tiny unisex bathroom. Â It is small.
The 909 is a great place to stop in for a beer or two. Â Catch a live act. Â The setting is very intimate and the bar is quaint. Â Go check it out. Â I love small bars over corporate bars like Cap Ale a few doors down. Â I would love to see 909 make it.
This place is a relaxed spot to grab a beer, but it offers nothing special in terms of beer selection, pricing or vibe - at least for me. It's a 70's vibe, so it feels a little like a time capsule, but I was underwhelmed overall. The service was great and we were able to get a booth and hear each other speak.
