As a third hookah cafe in the Fredericksburg area, I was really excited to see great things from a new place such as Kabab City. Because it just has started up, there isn't a lot of business as of this writing but I figured there would be potential.

Similar to other places as Aladin's and Pizza King, there is also a fine dining section and the smoking section for hookahs. It has a smaller menu than either place but what they have for food is okay. I also came to try their hookahs here, and they taste pretty good. I'd say the decor in the restaurant is the nicest in the place, with nice red walls and pictures of famous musicians from days past.

However, the biggest reason I'm giving only one star is my problem with the pricing of the hookahs. They are ten dollars which isn't bad if you think about it, but the catch is that each coal you put on the hookah costs 3 dollars. You could easily purchase a roll of coals from a tobacco store for 3 dollars with about 10 coals each. So if you enjoy hookahs, be prepared to shell out 3 dollars per coal, which then makes the hookah cost around 16-19 bucks for a proper session. I've been all over this state when it comes to hookah lounges and this is so far the only place I've seen charge for coals. It's kind of a given that coals themselves don't last long and are very cheap, so I'm not sure if the owner is charging them out of ignorance or thinking he can get away with it because many people don't know hookahs at all. This kind of thing just seemed insulting and arrogant.

If a business tries to get extra money by getting away with something that should be free, that can carry into other areas too. It makes me question the rest of the sales then. Will that mean it'll carry into prices that are too high while going for cheaper ingredients?

I may return again, but not in the near future.

I spotted this place near my hotel where I was passing through overnight.  The area is full of chains, so this was a find.  I orderered lamb kabobs to go. I was offered a cup of green tea while I waited, nice touch.

The food was pretty good and plentiful.  The lamb was cooked a bit too long fr my liking, and the pitas were crunchy on one side, not just warmed up and soft, as I would have preferred. The spinach side was delicious, and a fresh salad was served also, although they went heavier on the dressing than I would havre liked.

The decor was nice...I think next time I'd eat there instead of take out. Looks like a good place for families.

We used an IDC coupon to get a BOGO entree but even at full price, I'd recommend this place! A hidden gem of sorts :)
Between 3 people we each ordered something different all enjoyed their dishes. Speaking just for myself, I ordered the lamb kabob platter and it came with a yummy curry side dish, a salad and rice which was deliciously spiced! I like the ambiance but they had the news running on the TV, which usually isn't an issue except for some unpleasant scenes .. I just tried not to focus on that. The food came out hot and quick and the service was friendly! We'll go back, for sure !

I stopped in with the intent to buy a Gyro to take on the road. When I walked in I was struck by the attractive decor. The tables and the chairs are all wood and there's a clean rustic look to it. As I was talking to the owner, he mentioned that their specialty was the chicken kabab. I'm all for recommendations so I changed my order and sat myself.

I was brought a chopped salad with their homemade house dressing. Wow, that's good dressing.

When my meal came, I knew I was in for a treat just from the smell. The side of chick peas had a mellow, well-spiced flavor and was served with just the right amount of gravy.

The chicken...oh the chicken. Very flavorful and cooked to absolute perfection. Taking a bit was a pleasure in itself...the mouth feel was amazing. It's rare to have something that reminds you how fun chewing can be.

All the while I wanted to run to the people at the Popeye's next door and tell them what they were missing. This place deserves way more traffic.

There is a combination of two words that draws me like a magnet, and they are "Lunch buffet." If you put something like "All you can eat" after it, then I'm already parking. If it's a kebab place, then I've already finished two plates by the time you've read this sentence.

Kabab City is no different, but the buffet here is anything but typical. Everything is so fresh, and there isn't that obnoxious layer of oil that is usually present on Middle Eastern and Indian buffet food items. The rice was a little over buttered, but that is relative to the impeccably fresh char broiled bone-in chicken, lamb and goat meats. There was no grease, no residue, none of that "I wonder what this is? Well, I don't want to look like an idiot and ask so I'll just spoon some on my plate and eat it" feeling. The meats tasted like they were prepared with healthy seasonings and the other dishes like lentils and potato seemed like something you'd receive on your plate at a formal restaurant rather than a buffet.

The owner was very friendly, and he came out and greeted each of his patrons. The place has a sticker on the door that says the food has been certified for Islamic patrons to eat. The restrooms were really large and incredibly clean. The restaurant has lots of ceiling fans and solid dark wooden tables with trinkets from the near East decorating the space nicely.

The naan is soft and cooked to order, so naturally it tasted very fresh. I blew through about four pieces of naan to eat the two platefuls of meat and fillings I snatched from the buffet. Each time I was running low the chef came out and replaced the naan. All the meats were spiced differently. The chicken was especially flavorful: it tasted like it was cooked over an open flame and seared with spices before it landed on my plate. The baklava is baked off-site. The bakers didn't put too much caramel sugar on the top of the baklava probably to prevent it from getting soggy while it sits out at the restaurant after delivery. The philo dough was very well layered and crisp, and the nuts and caramel sugar on the bottom layers were delicious.

P.S. The address leads the GPS to the wrong place. This location is actually across the street from Asia Cafe on Route 17 near the Lowe's.

My husband saw this place one night when he was going to play soccer, and he stopped and got a menu. We took the plunge on Sunday night and placed an order for pick-up. For vegetarians, they have:

    - spinach pie
    - stuffed grape leaves
    - hummus
    - baba ghannouge
    - foule MeDamas
    - falafel
    - lentil soup
    - spilt pea soup

They also have a couple of other things, like french fries, mozzarella sticks, onion rings, and fried mushrooms. We got a bunch of the appetizers and had a little tapas feast. They were out of the spinach pie. The hummus, foule, and falafel were all really good. We could have used more pita bread. We will be sure and ask for extra next time we order.
