Great beer selection. We went there for a friends birthday. This place is minutes from my house but I never think to go. We ordered the calamari, Meh. No flavor. Could have used seasoning in the batter. We ordered shots and when they brought them over I thought they were kidding. They were tiny. Wasn't impressed. Service was great and they seem to have good drink specials throughout the week. Not sure it will be in our rotation, but I would give it another shot.

Great beer selection. Service at the bar was a little slow.

I love this place. It is just up the road from me, so it has become the preferred spot for dinner with my dad, lunch when I work from home, or drinks with friends. The bartenders are great, the food is good (great sandwiches, decent enough main entrees), the beer selection is very good (I love that they have Chimay), and the new outdoor area is great -- especially now that spring is here.

Good beer selection. Mixed crowd of people.

My buddies and I have been to Brother Paul's several times now.

They have a great beer selection, plenty of TVs and reasonable prices. The bartenders and waitresses have always been friendly and attentive.

I can't comment on the food because I've never eaten anything.

Brother Paul's is a solid sports bar in the Collegeville/Eagleville area, head there if you want to watch the game and don't mind other fans cheering at the TV.

I am a fan of brew pubs, little hole in the wall joints with good food and a decent beer selection.  I was introduced to Brother Paul's several years ago and was impressed, at the time, with their food choices and prime beer selections. I can't say I'm an avid goer of this establishment, but when I'm in the area, I love to stop by for a burger and a beer.  That was me on Sunday, football day in America and after a day of outlet shopping with friends, headed over for some eats. The bar was scarce -- maybe 15 - 20 people scattered around the bar or surrounding tables. I've never eaten in the bar area, always in the restaurant, but since it was just me, I found my way to an open seat in front of two tvs to catch the reamaining half of two games. The bartender, a female, was less than attentive and seemed to pay more attention to her iPhone than to her guests. I waited in my seat for 8 minutes (after the first 2 minutes came and went, I started to pay attention to my watch) before she came by and even noticed me (of the other 20 people in the bar, only 3 of us were women). Reverse discrimination? I asked for a beer menu - they used to have a good menu within the restaurant but I was told what was on the chalk board on the back wall was all they had. No pumpkin beers. No Oktoberfest. No fall ales. Nothing.  Whoever these other reviewers are that are saying they have a good beer menu -- $2 Coors Lites and Miller drafts are NOT good beers. Super sad. I resorted to a Guiness (the only worthwhile options were Stella, Yards and Yuengling). I had to wait another 9 minutes before she came around with my beer and to take my order. Very simple: french onion soup and a BBQ burger cooked medium well.  The french onion soup was rushed out -- the cheese wasn't even thoroughly melted, but clumped in the middle of the crock. It had zero taste and was luke warm. As my bartender was less than attentive to ask how it was, I resorted to eat it as I was starving and feared sending it back would have sub-par consequences and an eye roll involved. The burger came out more medium rare then medium well. It was pink inside and cold.  The only thing hot were the fries. I cut the thing in half, boxed it to go and couldn't wait to just get out of there... though I had to wait to get my check as the bartender was again more interested in said iPhone and the boys in the corner of the bar.  Seriously -- I get waitressing sucks. I've been there, I've done that -- college town and all. But it's a customer service job so if you aren't a fan of people, maybe you should consider another job. Soup, a burger and a beer for $22 -- wasted time and wasted money.  I won't be back, which is a shame because this place used to be a highlight of driving through Eagleville to get up to my friends place in Limerick. If you want some good eats and a kick-ASS bar selection in the area, try Capone's on Germantown Pike or PJ Whelihan's in Blue Bell on Rt 202/73 area. Great food, great selection of beers and a MUCH more friendly staff of servers and bartenders. I can stand sub-par beer selections and so-so food choices, but the 'tude I do NOT need with my meal. Bon appetite!

The pork sandwiches are great, the beer selection decent but its one of the dirtiest place I've eaten in. Amazing they can pass inspection with the years of filth collected on the floors and back room seating area in general. The service meh and its not family friendly. There today for lunch with my young daughter on out way out after a our meal a bartender yells the f word at the top of his lungs over what appeared to be dirty dishes left on the bar. Classy!

I've been here a few times and each visit has always been better than the previous one.  The food is always good.  They have a huge menu and they always have a handful of specials as well.  They have a ton of beers on tap, both macros and micros.  The place can get crowded at times, but its big enough that you usually can get a seat pretty quickly either around the bar or in the dining area.  Even at busy times the wait staff is amazing and attentive to your needs.  The only complaint I have about this place is the parking lot.  It gets full really quick during busy times.

Brother Paul's is what it is. They have a great beer selection and a large dining room. Kid's are welcome and they serve American food that everyone will eat. Great relaxing atmosphere and a good place for a family dinner. The food is not good. Some of he servers have an attitude and service is inattentive. Still you are probably going to have a really good time if you go!

Its hard to believe that yelpers are referring to this place as average.  Far from it.  Their draft selection is hands down the best within a 20 mile radius, which I love since I live in the area and don't have to travel into Philadelphia to acquire a reasonably priced, perfectly poured craft beer.  These guys are smart about their ever-rotating selection, which always acknowledges seasonal and specialty small-batched brews.  On my last visit, for example, Brother Paul's had Yards Bourbon Barrel Aged Old Bartholemew Stout and Yards Chocolate Love Stout, both of which are local, limited-edition brews.  Another thing worth mentioning here is that the owners know how to store and maintain the pressure and temperature of their kegs, as I have yet to experience staleness or lack of carbonation.  In my experience, most places around here might offer one or two worthwhile tap selections that have ended up disappointing due to a lack of proper maintenance.   Someone running the place knows exactly how to select and preserve an incredible line-up of taps.

One last note, the service has always been up to, if not above, par.  I usually sit at the bar, and am always greeted quickly and served efficiently.  All of the bartenders that have waited on me have proved to be pleasant, sincere and interesting (not to mention gorgeous).

Bottom line is that Brother Paul's is far from an average, chain restaurant.  In fact, its quite the opposite.  I only wish there was a six-star option on this site.

In the realm of bars this place is just very...average.  Went here on a Sunday night and it was pretty quiet.  The service was okay but not exceptional.  I ordered a turkey sandwich that was average and my manfriend got some spicy pasta crab dish that was equally average.  Their beer selection is pretty decent.

Weird note- this is clearly a sports bar, 10,000 huge TVs.  So they were playing baseball on the outside TVs but blasting Game of Thrones around the bar.  Sensory overload.

I didn't hate Brother Paul's but I'm definitely not itching to go back.

I've been here multiple times, just starting posting on Yelp so fortunately for them my latest experience here was pretty good. This is a big place, sometimes waitresses or waiters forget to come by often enough, but I don't like to condemn a place for that.

Also this place is not a chain (yet) so I like to support the little guy vs. the chains.

The beer selection is huge, better to sit in the bar area for quicker food service but tables are usually hard to come by.

Food is standard pub fare with some dinners and specials, since we are big appetizer and sandwich eaters this is what we usually order here. Latest visit included a shared hummus appetizer, and a buffalo chicken wrap, a grilled reuben, and a cheese steak.

Hummus was excellent, very fresh tasting, and would recommend. All the sandwiches were huge and very good and came with fries (for some reason  they used to give you a bag of chips with sandwiches but they wisely nixed that idea)
Bottom line, if you are near Eagleville, this place is a great value and worth a visit.

My no good Brother! Well, not actually. Brother Paul's hits the middle of the road spectrum. Not remarkable, but there's not much I can say that's wrong with the place. I may be in the minority here, as the place tends to fill up on certain nights. On those nights, I usually find myself cramped in, standing against the wall in an awkward position. In this situation riot gear is necessary to get to the bar. I'd rather play Twister in a coffin that was buried 30 ft underground then attend Brother Paul's on a packed night, At least then I'd have some room to move.

good place for a drink and bar food...I heard the burgers were good, but went with the pulled pork and was very happy about my choice!  They also have some good drink specials.  This place reminds me a lot of the Trappe Tavern, but better lighting and much cleaner...plenty of seating, nice warm atmosphere.  plenty of TVs in the restaurant too.  I'm going to go back to try the burger one of these days.

    Late night menu till midnight...

Nice selection of beers on tap. On Wednesdays, the local band Wynrise plays for the open mic night and the bar features all thier microbrews for $3.

Spur of the moment decision while driving on a saturday afternoon that definitely paid off!  It was a great atmosphere, great beer selection, food that was great, good service.  All in all a good time, sat in the enclosed front porch section, no complaints.  Give it a shot, we'll definitely be going back soon!

Used to be our favorite local dive. Beer selection and food specials usually are great. Foods always good. But some of the servers leave a lot of room for improvement, and the few exceptional servers are hard to come by here.

very cool atmosphere.  We like to go here for lunch with the kids.  The pulled pork is amazing.  They also have an impressive selection of beers.  Service can be a little slow, but with so much open space and elbow room, I have never felt cramped or anxious to leave.  If you are into nightlife, I think they have live music some nights.  definitely check it out!  Its always good to see a re-purposed, old, historic building too.

A favorite local spot!  Great beer selection, lots of TV's and plenty of seating.  Most of the food I've had has been very good, but there are some items on the menu that I haven't been impressed with.  They have solid burgers, although I'm not a huge fan of the bread.  The chicken sandwiches are great, and on bread that I like better.

They're also willing to put Philadelphia Union games on one of the TV's without giving me the usual odd stare, and Paul is a soccer fan, which is a huge plus for me.  Overall I'd highly recommend checking Brother Paul's out.

Had high hopes when some folks from work sang raises of their burgers.

Unfortunately, burger I got was greasy and quite pedestrian. May try it again but not in a hurry to do so.

Cool atmosphere, and one of the Best Bar Grub places in the area.
Recommend the burgers and the Loaded Nachos.
Good Beer selection as well.  I the summer they also have an outdoor patio area, for smokers like myself to hang out and drink & smoke

Brother Paul's is a relaxed bar with a good micro selection, and some really good pub food.

Last time I was there they were one of the first places to have Anchor OSA on tap.. a must for the holiday season. I had a very decent grilled cheese on whole grain bread, and a passable soup.

Friends with me raved about the roast pork (which is roasted daily) and is served with sharp provolone ( a must ) and some nice long hots. You also can have broccoli rabe on the sandwich as well.

This neighborhood gem gets less pub than other places around, but really deserves a visit for the beer geek in Mont Co,

We visited Brother Pauls about ten times in three years. It was 30-minute-plus drive, so unless we found ourselves over there for other business, going over there took a commitment. The menu is well-executed 'pub food' with a great selection of beers. I like the burgers and fries, which is usually enough to keep me happy. Occasionally, the service can be distracted, and you can get unruly children.

This place is decent for the Eagleville/Collegeville area.

I can't speak for the food, but I went here for drinks and desert.  The rum and cokes were nice and strong.  The candy bar explosion cake was pretty tasty, I have to say.  Although I didn't drink the beer, they have a decent selection.

I would probably go to Capone's in East Norriton before heading here, but if you live more towards Collegeville this place would certainly be good.  Capone's doesn't have good food, but they do have a better beer selection.  I would definitely return to Brother Paul's and give the food a try, though.

Went there on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate my brother's birthday with father and niece.  Beer selection not bad but not the best I've seen--decent number and quality of beers on tap, including Franziskaner Hefeweizen.  My father wanted diet soda.  They had none.  We ordered their wings ($7/10.)  Good, but not outstanding.  I ordered an Italian panini ($10), which was great.  My father liked his fish and chips.  Both waitresses, everyone agreed, had a bit of an attitude, like they were doing us a favor by serving us.  Not appreciated.  Timing of food not bad, but hardly anyone there after all.  Lots of TVs.  Big U-shaped bar.  Separate dining area with a few customers.  Beers expensive($5+), and would not go back for happy hour as the only "specials" they have are $1.75 crappy macrolagers.

I'll have to help out the neighborhood eatery here as some of the Friday night specials have been outstanding. Last November, I had the New England seafood bowl which was a dozen or so clams and mussels, four humongous shrimp, four equally humongous scallops, parsleyed potatoes, corn on the cob and huge wedges of crispy garlic bread served in a bowl full of rich seafood  broth AND... topped off with a half of a lobster for $21. I don't know how they made any money that night but such deals do exist. As for everyday fare, OK I guess.

Yeah, not so blown away with this place. I think its all about the atmosphere and the drinks and the darts (notice that the ATM next to the dart boards totally has a chip out of the screen).

But this review is for the food. Pass. The sandwiches, the salads, the entrees - this is all pretty much low-end pub food. Drink enough and you won't mind. Or do yourself a favor, and just drink enough.

I've tried and tried to like Brother Paul's and don't get me wrong I've had some fun times here. The problem is the food is not very good. The wings are pretty good, which could be what saved me from dropping only one start on poor Brother Paul. I've tried a burger, a couple other sandwiches, I've had friends who've ordered steaks there, and all were less than good. Like I said, I've tried. The bar is very big and nicely set up to watch several games at a time. The decor is decorated with college pennants giving it an nice atmosphere.

Even with two stars I would recommend going there for two things. Wings and beer. They have a large selection of tasty beers and again, the wings are pretty good. I'd be happy to bump up my rating if I'm able to go back and have a good meal experience.

So I'm torn on this review...The place is pretty large and has a lot of seating options (which Laura W mentions). It seems to have a pretty strong following since it was really busy on a Thursday night (although it was the day before July 4th and there was a Phillies game on).

I was with a party of 15 people and the food did come out quickly and all at once. I ordered their chicken parm sandwich which was awful. It tasted like it had peppers on it and I had to play "find the chicken" in my bun. But, everyone else seemed to LOVE their pull pork sandwich. I saw 5 women eat the whole thing. That's got to say something, right?

I think I'm going to have to take Jeff back there to try it. Perhaps I just ordered the wrong dish?

This my husband and my "go-to" place.  Whenever we can't decide on where we would like to go we inevitably choose Brother Pauls.

The restaurant/pub is located on Ridge Pike just outside of the Collegeville/Norristown/Worcester area in a renovated stone home(?).  It is an old building with not much updating on the inside.  When you walk into the restaurant you are immediately in the bar area.  This can be annoying if you have to wait a time for a hostess as the bar area isn't smoke free.

The rest of the place consists of three additional rooms.  The first one is in between the bar and the larger restaurant room. I've never been seated here, but it looks like they can accommodate some larger groups at these tables.

The larger room is comprised of tables and booths.  More tables then booths.  It can get pretty loud between all of the tvs and families that frequent the restaurant.

The next room is actually the enclosed front porch of the house.  I like sitting here best.  One long bench seat with tables spaced out.  Again, my husband can always catch a game while we eat dinner or grab a beer from their EXTENSIVE beer list (book).

The food is ok.  It isn't overpriced, but I wish they would change up the menu every once in awhile.  They do offer specials each night.  But I would like to see some variety on the regular menu.  They do make an awesome veggie pannini and their burgers are great.

They have outdoor seating as well.  You feel like you are in your own world because of the high stucco wall that keeps you from seeing the parking lot and Ridge Road.

I enjoy coming here both in the summer and the winter.  A beer on the patio or a dirty martini sitting out in the enclosed porch when it is cold outside are equally enjoyable for this friendly fall-back restaurant.
