The food was really good, and absolutely delicious. .. but the service was just ridiculous.

I give the food 4 stars, service only 1 star.

Came with family, a table of 5, at first the only one's outside, there were people inside but it was not packed and they didn't seem extremely busy. We ordered everything within the first 15 minutes. We, then, waited for over an hour for our food, and even a couple of other parties who came in after 30 minutes or so later got served, even paid and left by the time we had recieved our meals, not even the simple hummus platter appetizer came. We barely recieved an apology and had to keep asking what was going.

Myself being pretty hungry ordered the (what i thought was) fastest thing on the menu: the grilled mushroom sandwich. And I feel stupid for even complaining about this, I get it only to burn my tongue from taking my first bite. Seriously there was over an hour to cook it. I ask for a refill of water and i get straight warm tap, no ice. I understand it was a Sunday afternoon, but they should have been more attentive.
Not even from the area, driving home to miami with this burnt tongue.

Don't come if you are in a rush. Very dissapointed.

I go here all the time! The owner is Greek and has a lot of great Greek creations influenced by his mom. The hommade chips are amazing!! The burgers are relish and the lemon chicken soup is great!!
Also if you are a beer drinker they have lots of different beers on tap! This is a small place and the staff is super friendly! I definitely recommend the burg to everyone!

    "Great lunch"
This is our second visit to this tiny restaurant near Rays stadium in St. PETE. We ate outside, had wonderful weather, service and food. Staff was very friendly and professional. I had the Greek salad with gyro meat and pita . My husband had the Monday special: $5 for 5 oz burger and fries.
Everything was delicious and the salad was huge and outstanding. There are many
beers from which to choose. For a casual lunch, this place is the best.

The first thing that went through my head when I walked into The Burg was, Wow... this place is small. That's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, it adds to the charm. At the same time, I can see how it could get real cramped if it were busy. Lucky for me it was only about half full when I walked in so I posted up at a two top pub table against the wall.

I wanted a beer and beer they have. Lots of it. An entire chalk board wall listing the beers they offer! I asked the server if he could recommend an Amber. They didn't have one... so he offered me a couple of Browns. I went with the Fat Cat which was only $2 a can. Score! It was pretty good too.

I had heard good things about The Burgs burgers. So it didn't take long for me to scan the menu before I knew what I wanted. Chicken And Waffles!!! Oh yeah... basically any time a go somewhere that offers up some C&W, I have to try it at least once.

They do a good job of it here too. It's made in the form of a sandwich with the waffle being the bread. The chicken was delicious and juicy and topped with Swiss cheese, bacon and an egg. When the plate first came to the table I could see where the yolk actually ran down the chicken when the chef cut the sandwich in half. Simply glorious... The C&W is also served with some natural chips. They didn't blow my mind, but they were good enough.

This is a cool place, and I'll definitely be back because I still have to try their burger.

The beer was great and very inexpensive, the food was delicious but a little overpriced. I had the healthy burger which came with the smallest burger I've seen in my life on top of rice and beans. Don't get me wrong, it was delicious, but 5 dollars delicious not 10 dollars delicious. Seating was kind of cramped as well and it took them 40 minutes to make our meal when it wasn't that busy so that's why I took a couple of stars off of my review. Staff were very friendly though, I'd come back.

Large and greasy burger always means good! That was the boyfriend's choice, but even my turkey club sandwich was a large portion. I didn't realize it was a double decker. Cool! Except I couldn't fit the sandwich in my mouth and had to take it apart to eat it. Darn. I like the chips they make and serve with the sandwich, too. Something like homemade kettle chips.

It's just a really small place, so you might miss it.

Chicken and Waffles. Need I say more?? Oh yeah, and an incredible selection of craft beers (bottled and on tap) and feta fries that make you wanna come back over and over again. Really good food. Really good beer. Good prices. Small intimate place so be prepared at peak hours, you are gonna wait. But it's worth it. Good place to grab a lunch during the week or have a nightcap late night. Nice find in St. Pete.

    Yep, it's a burger.
A thick, somewhat dry, and too-small-for-the-bun shaped burger that will take almost thirty minutes to receive.  I have found that no matter how many customers there are, the wait time stays the same because the meat is cooked to order.

You can order the burger with Gyro style toppings to make it have a stronger taste.
Or, you can have the same patty sandwiched between two room temperature grilled cheese sandwiches with bacon.
The fries are delicious, double fried--- the taste is fresh and somewhat sweet from the caramelized starch.

The drink specials are definitely a great value.  So to me, the burgers play a side role to the drinking at The Burg.

Don't waste your time.  The service is horrible.  We had a party of four that sat outside.  I had to go inside to ask for napkins, silverware, water, and drinks.  I ordered the hummus and pita for an appetizer and the mahi mahi sandwich for an entree.  I got the sandwich before I got the appetizer.  The beer selection is ok, but could use more variety.  The mahi mahi was blackened, but still lacked flavor.  It was tough as well.  This is the first place I've patronized in St. Petersburg.  I'm shocked that it rates 4-1/2 stars.  Please go somewhere else.  You'll thank me for it.

The Burg rocks!  Not sure why I haven't been there before now, but we stopped in for lunch after participating in a St. Pete Preservation History Walk.  Of course, I had my big puppy with me and they were very friendly about having a dog offering him water.  I ordered the patty melt and was wow'd!  The burger was fantastic and my fries were done perfectly.  I ate the whole thing!!!  Fresh beer on tap too.  I was in a little bit of gastro heaven!  My bf ordered a spinach and feta omelet that looked so delicious.  The owner stopped by our table to say hello.  Next time I visit, I plan to order something off their greek menu since everything looked authentic.  Can't wait to go back!

Came back for a second chance.  That was my second mistake.  As one can see in my previous review, I was intrigued by the menu and really want to like this place, but by god, its some of the worst service I have ever had.  I wasn't lucky enough to show up on the same bartenders as before day off.  If I hadn't talked up how great everyone says the burgers are, and my dad visiting who loves burgers, I would have probably walked back out (and should have).

If I were to rate the food only, I think they would still be at a three, but until they let me punch in my own order, and grab it from the kitchen, I won't be back, as service does count.  Same as the last time I walked in, we were ignored for a while, but I expected that, and we really weren't in a rush.  Given plenty of time, as soon as she walked over to grab drinks, we both ordered our burgers.  I got the Greek, and my dad ordered one with bacon.  Mine was ordered medium, and the other med well.  When my burger came out, it was actually crunchy on the outside.  It was so overcooked that i ate less than half of it.  I wanted to send it back, but as it took well over a half hour to get, I was scared to even attempt it.  My dad's burger came out without bacon, and by the time she came back, his burger was half gone......  further, by the time the bacon made it out, it was all of a bite left.  The icing on the cake this visit was she was loudly talking about the "a##.... outside" using language that would get my review pulled, so I will leave it at that.

The chicken & waffles is the best I have had on either side of Tampa Bay...! Maybe there should be a cook-off for this delectable dish...? These folks would win hands down...!

Went for lunch today and had to wait about 45 minutes for their Mediterranean Plate which was quite disappointing. The gyro meat was paper thin and over cooked which made it more like a crispy cracker. The pita slices seemed as if they were fried and were rock hard.

Friend of mine ordered wings which took the same amount of time to come out and they were cold.

This is the second time I've gone and the second time I've had a poor meal that took too long to cook. Sorry Burg, but I tried to like you, but you failed me twice out of two times.

The Burg is a terrific gem of a bar a block away from Tropicana Field.  The food, especially the authentic Greek dishes, are fresh and delicious.  The local beer selection is top notch and the service is great.  It's a great place to unwind after work or have a bite to eat and a cold beer before, or after, a Rays game.   Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome outside, for sidewalk dining.

Try Mama Maria's Greek Lemon Chicken Soup - it's the REAL thing!!

Let me say first that I am a self proclaimed chicken sandwich aficionado. I base a restaurant's worthiness on how good their chicken sandwich is. No chicken sandwich has been able to top Trip's (in St. Pete) in my eyes until now. The Burg offers a honey mustard grilled chicken sandwich on a pretzel bun. Yes, you read that right. A pretzel bun. I have been twice now, getting the same thing each time to make sure it wasn't a fluke that I got a great sandwich. It wasn't. Only this time, they made an error and put a hunk of feta on the sandwich. They were ready to make me a new one, but I like feta, so I kept it. Wow. SO delicious! This place is now 1 of only 2 places whose chicken sandwiches I dream about. Not really... ok, really.

I guess I'll talk about the other food, if I must. The fries are delicious. The brown, kinda burnt looking ones. Love those. You can also get feta on these. My husband had a mahi sandwich the first time and a patty melt the second time. He said both were delicious and can't wait to eat there again. He also had a Yuengling draft. He tells me they have a great selection. I wouldn't know... I don't drink.

My only gripe, which is minimal, is they only have canned soda, which means no free refills. They make up for it by having Coke and not Pepsi, though.

Ok. I have 1 more gripe. This place is way too tiny for such good food. There is a bar with maybe 10 seats and 4 tables, two 4 tops and two 2 tops. They do have outdoor seating, but it's right next to Central Ave.

Overall, I would highly recommend this place.

My biz associate was in the mood for their Amazing Chicken & Waffles,so I called ahead and ordered it. Personally I don't like ordering food to take out , unless its a " Take out" type of restaurant. You lose a lot of the food experience and usually by the time you get it home , its cold and has lost its visual and taste appeal.
I must point out my biz associate resides in Hillsborough Cnty so I drove from there to St Pete , picked it up and drove back, about a 50 minute drive back.
Yea this place is that good in my opinion to drive that far.
I dropped  it off it to her , 15 minutes later she texts me and says it was almost as good as when we had it there.
Your not getting a take out version which as I stated can be inferior at most places,
Shaun knows his craft well and executes every order dining in or take out the same. Yes you do lose the charm , coziness and friendly atmosphere that I have experienced the 6+ times I have been here since Fall 2012.
I absolutely love this place and I wasn't so carb conscious lately I would be here weekly!

Needed a good burger while on a short vacation in the St. Pete area and decided a craft burger was in order. Ordered the standard cheeseburger and a black and blue with fries and sweet potato fries. My cheeseburger was thick and still juicy cooked to medium. The beef is held up on a sturdy bakery style bun and that didn't wilt under the vegetables and condiments. The fries were just "ok" but I really enjoyed the sweet potato fries which would've been even better if served with a decent honey mustard. Good, prompt service reliant on a single server who managed the bar and the six or so round tops in this small neighborhood bar/grill.

OK  Five Stars Here....The Burg is another best kept secret by the St Pete locals.   Very small joint w/great food & beer/wine bar (damn cold beer too).  A family run business where the owners stop by your table to make sure your happy, the mother (Mom) sends you off w/ a smile & a kiss if you'd like. Friendly staff and the service was very good....you get what you order.   Now the food: hands down awesome burger (blue cheese/bacon*****), hand cut fries, home made potato chips, the Philly steak was the best I have ever had and the Greek food looked good (wife had Falfel & salad).   I topped my lunch off by besting my friends w/the deep fried twinkie & ice cream :)  The special today was a waffle chicken sandwich which looked beyond good.   please note: this is a small place with a big Five Star atmosphere & food.   If you go because of my review please let them know.   Very local and friendly place and very good for the buck.  4 of us ate, 6 drinks, desert & 20% tip for $68.00  I think we did pretty good

Went there on a Thursday night fairly recently.   Have been many times.  They have great food always! However, it was supposed to be ladies night, half price apps and wine.  Server did not give me half price and pretty much ignored us the whole time.  Was flirting with some dudes. lol  AND,  why do you charge such high prices for the craft beers?!  I just went to a new joint downtown, at the Hollander and their crafts beers, many of them the same as yours are all $5....  Just sayin.

Great little pub with good food.  Taps with domestic, local and foreign craft brews, decent bottle list too. My wife and I stopped here with some friends on our way back to Ft Myers for some lunch.  I had a Bacon cheese burger and onion rings. Great meal, though I did like the fries I stole from my wife's plate a little better. Wish I could find a place like this closer to home. Would definitely be a regular.

Omfg, whoever was working the grill tonight should go back to flipping burgers at bk where temperature is irrelevant. Why bother asking a customer how they want their burger cooked if the individual cooking them is incapable of following orders. My medium rare burger was well done, my wife's medium burger was well done. Seriously, quit your job. 2 stars because there was at least some flavor in the charred cow flesh passed off as a burger. The waitress was nice too.

This review was originally written months ago, and I realize that I should have complained about the burger. There comes a time when you're too damn hungry and just have to eat the shitty burger.

Decided to go here after spending the day on the beach before I had to bring my husband back to the airport. We were in a little bit of a rush, but still had time for a few beers and some lunch. When we came in things were pretty hectic. We took one of the last available tables and were told by the girl behind the bar that she'd be with us a soon as possible. She was flying around trying to make sure everyone was well taken care of, but it was just her! She immediately was on the phone with the owner and he was on his way to come in and help. She brought me the wrong beer (but from the right brewery) and then left before we could order our food. My husband could see me getting a little anxious about what our experience would be here, but after this everything really turned around.

When I asked her about the beer she was super nice about it and not only gave me the beer complimentary but just made the whole round on the house (unnecessary, but very kind). She took our order and allowed us to do the feta fries as a side rather then regular fries and wouldn't even charge us an up charge for it (again, completely unnecessary, but nice just the same). The owner came in and was immediately going around making sure everyone was taken care of. You can tell hes really a guy who cares about his bar and what he does. The waitress apologized again and looked so much more relax now that they were staffed for what was needed.

As we were waiting for our food, all the food coming out looked amazing. We ended up splitting a grilled cheese WITH bacon burger. That's right - that is a burger that is between TWO grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches.  We split it so we wouldn't have to feel bad about ourselves, but we still should. It was just as wonderful as I hoped it would be, though. We got the feta fries on the side - I wish the cheese was a little more melty, but it was delish just the same. Great beer menu as well.

We had read about the baklava here on Yelp and had just enough time to top it all of with a slice of this. The owner recommended it with a scoop of ice cream and warmed it up for us. Let me tell you something - warmed baklava with ice cream is like 50 million times better then the already delicious room temp baklava sans ice cream.

If I lived in Tampa I'd try to go back often. Just a great staff and really great food and beer. Plus they had all the football games going. Definitely come in and give this place a try.

When we first spotted the Burg we thought it was another DTSP hole-in-the-wall bar. After being told by several friends that we had to try it and that they had one of the best burgers in town, we visited on an early Sunday afternoon before work.

After going back and forth and trying to decide what to order; we noticed the food specials on the board. We ended up ordering all specials and we did not regret it. We ordered the fish spread for an app (GET THIS if you see it offered!). It was delicious. It was also quite large. We were given a baseball size portion of fish spread, lots of packs of crackers and hot sauce. The fish spread had a whipped texture and while you could taste the fish, it was not fishy. It is best with a dab of hot sauce on top.

For our meals we ordered 2 specials: the Patty Melt and the Hot Italian. I had the Patty Melt and it is probably the best Patty Melt I have ever tried. My only complaint was that the bread was huge and the hamburger was much smaller. So, my first few bites were all bread. The bread was delicious though and it had lots of sauteed onions piled on top. The melted cheese was the final touch on this mouth watering burger. The Hot Italian was my Husbands. I had a small bite of it and it was no regular lunch meat sandwich! It had a divine sauce on it and the cheese was gooey and melted onto the warm meat. I would order both of these again. The french fries and homemade chips were even noteworthy.

Don't let outside appearances full you: this bar has some amazing food. They did also have an amazing beer list  that we are going to go back and hit soon. Definitely visit!

Holy Baklava this place is amazing!!! Ordered via 727Foodnow on a Saturday night, recovering from a little too much frothy beverage indulgence the night before. THE BEST chicken souvlaki I've ever had. Pita was the perfect balance of soft and crispy, chicken and toppings overflowing, and tzasiki sauce to die for. Huge portion for the money. Also ordered the feta fries due to the overwhelming shout outs on Yelp, and was not disappointed by any means. The star of the show, however, was the baklava. I mean... who KNEW a burger place could have such amazing, flaky, buttery goodness? This one is off the charts bangin'. Ordered the Greek Salad with Chicken to save for lunch tomorrow and can't wait to dive in after a nice SUP session. The thing is freakin' enourmous and loaded with goodies.

    Go! Now!

Gabriel and I had to go up to St. Pete to meet with our wedding photographer (EEEeEEEEeee!!!) so we decided to make a day of it and head to the Dali museum afterwards. We'd been wanting to check it out for a while and were excited to spend the afternoon there. It was a very interesting way to spend some time, and we thoroughly enjoyed not just the art and the guided audio tour, but also the amazing architecture of the building itself as well as the beautifully manicured grounds and awesome views of boats on the water.
When we finished looking around, it was after 3:45pm and our stomachs were growling. Although the cafe in the museum looked great, I was craving iron and feeling deprived since we skipped our post-blood-donation burgers the week before. We decided to check Yelp for local burger joints and found 5 star reviews for the Burg Bar and Grill.
We arrived to find a tiny, dive-y bar with a few tables and a friendly bartender/waiter happy to seat us. Apparently, during 'normal' meal times, it's nearly impossible to get a table so we were lucky that hunger stuck at an odd hour. We looked over the menu and quickly chose our burgers. I love that they have a small and large size so that I don't eat an 8oz just because it's on the plate in front of me when I'm perfectly satisfied with a 5oz. I ordered mine cooked medium and topped with american cheese, grilled mushroom and grilled onions and Gabriel got his with blue cheese and bacon. We both asked for our fries to be very well-done.
About 10 minutes later, our waiter arrived with our lunch/dinner much to our delight. The fries were super crispy and the burgers looked amazing. I was very happy to find that they had malt vinegar for my fries- a preference of mine over ketchup. One bite and I was sold. This absolutely deserves all of the stars it's been given. The burger was cooked perfectly with just the right amount of gooey cheese and sauteed onions and mushrooms. The roll was fresh and doughy, not the typical out-of-a-package roll at all. I tried a bite of Gabriel's burger and found that it too was perfection.
Overall, for less than $20 we left feeling thoroughly satisfied, pretty darn fat and totally happy. If we are ever in the area again, we might just have to go back. If you live nearby, definitely give it a shot- you'll be glad you did.

    Hole-in-the-wall-hole-in-f*@king-one!!!!!!!!!

This place might sketch you out from the outside. It is on Central in St. Pete, almost tucked underneath I-275. BUT HOLY F*@KING CRAP THIS PLACE IS THE BOMG-DIGGITY HOT D@MN BANANA MAN! I hope using all those words together for a bar/restaurant does not turn you off, it is just hard to describe with words the awesomely delicious-ness of this place!

BEST FRIED CHICKEN AND WAFFLES IN TOWN! It is one of my favorites. They use the waffles like buns on a chicken sandwich and the slab of chicken is FREAKING HUGE!!!! The only way you can justify covering fried chicken with maple syrup is when you get this dish, and the Burg really knows how to lay down the fried chicken and waffles law. Topped with a sunny side up egg and bacon, this thing is is Tokyo and my mouth is Godzilla!!!

I love Ancient Greece, and I love Socrates. And if you know me, and know my love for that stuff, then you will be amazing when I say I LOVE THE GYRO BURGER MORE!!! TAKE ALL THE KNOWLEDGE THAT SOCRATES HAD AND COOK IT MEDIUM RARE AND PUT SOME LAMB ON TOP INSTEAD OF BACON! And of course don't forget the Feta Cheese and tzatziki sauce. I tried this for the first time at my last visit and forced my mom and fiancee to get the friend chicken and waffles and share with me! I took one bite and then apologized to my family. "I am sorry guys but this is so freaking good I am going to have to make a mess of myself" I looked like a little baby eating his cake on his first birthday. I was covered, my whole face, with Delicious Burger Juice and a little bit of every other ingredient! OH SNAP IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!

They also have some great beers on tap, and the owner is very very nice.  My dad just went with a Greek salad and said that it was made the exact same way as they made them when he was in Greece. He was very impressed. My dad started talking to the owner about the different villages he visited in Greece. They really hit it off.

If you don't go here and try this amazing food, you are a fool. Socrates said, "All I know is that I know nothing." What he should have said is, "All I know is that I know nothing other than the BURG that will satisfy my appetite in St. Pete!"

This place is fantastic.  The food is amazing, but the seating is difficult.  Luckily, I was only here with a friend.  If there were more of us, that might have been tricky.  A group of 6 came in, which is pretty reasonable at most restaurants, and had only one option where they could split up into a couple groups in the corner.  This is definitely not a place for large parties.

As for the food, they have a great selection of hearty burgers and sandwiches.  I had the cuban sandwich and my friend had the turkey and avocado.  Our eyes both got huge when our plates arrived.  The turkey and avocado is monstrous.  My friend actually took apart the sandwich, because she couldn't fit the whole thing in her mouth.  Both sandwiches came with chips (although I had a choice of beans and rice).  My cuban sandwich was delicious.  I enjoyed it immensely.  The chips were no slouch either.  If they were not handmade, they definitely were not your run in the mill lays potato chips.  They had a great heft to them and were seasoned nicely.

They seemed to have a decent beer menu.  We both got woodchuck ciders, so I cannot comment on the beer.  However, if you are not a beer drinker, but you have friends who love beer, this is a good place to go, since you have a couple choices of ciders.

Just as a side note, the lights dimmed at around 6 p.m. (we went on a Wednesday).  The music was pretty loud, but we had no problem hearing each other.  When we first arrived (at about 4 p.m.) the place was pretty empty with only a couple people.  However, by the time we left it was getting busy (at around 6:30 p.m.).

I would definitely recommend this place for a casual dinner with friends when you want food that fills you up and tastes amazing.

What else can you say about a place that has a burger on Krispy Creme doughnuts on special periodically?  Or what about a place that has a burger where the buns are grilled cheese and bacon sandwiches?  It is sinfully good.  I would go so far as to say that this is THE BEST stoner food in all of the bay.  I mean come on the place does awesome chicken and waffles... this isn't exactly something you pick up if your only peckish.  But man can this place execute.

An the bar is decent too.  I don't know if they do full liquor but they do have a good selection of craft brews.  The place has cool decor and is comfortable despite the fact that this is a tiny little restaurant.  It is a place that I feel comfortable just cutting loose.

Pretty good burgers, really nice bartender, and amazing beer selection!

This place won some type of local burger award. But the reason to go there is the 15 or so beers on tap, and I'm not talking Bud, Bud Light, Miller, Miller Light. Lots of local/FL craft brews and lots of Cali brews (Anderson Valley, Anchor, maybe Lagunitas?).

It's not super close to the main St. Pete's drag, and it looks a little divey on the outside, but don't be deterred - stop in for an inexpensive and friendly meal.

Wow. Just simply wow. Ignore the fact that my burger was about 2,000,000 calories. Or that this place is on the very edge of the downtown area. Those two factors do NOT matter. This place is of culinary excellence and you will find yourself enjoying the best burger. Ever.

Let me take a few sentences to describe this monster of awesome - two bacon grilled cheese sandwiches on the outside, 1/2 pound of fresh ground beef (medium rare) on the inside, topped with more cheese and bacon, and all the other fixins. Wow. It was delicious, so delicious I forgot my stomach was full and ate the entire thing. It was buttery, and cheesy, and fatty, and OMG GOOD! To compliment my burger the side of fresh cut fries were awesome as well. Possibly the best fries I have ever had. Seriously a terrific meal!

My friend has a Philly cheesesteak and ordered extra meat. Please friends, don't make the same mistake as he, regular portion of meat would be more than adequate. He stated that it was delicious as well.

Another unique, and totally awesome, fact about this place - I received a 10.0% ABV beer in a pint glass. They had that bad boy IPA on tap, and it was awesome! Cold, full of alcohol, and not expensive! The way beer should be!

Finally, a note about service - above average. Our waiter used an iPod touch to place our order, got it exactly right and was always prompt with our needs. You def get a "local" type of feel at this spot, and it is really quite awesome. Bring your appetite and leave with a few extra inches. Off to the gym for me!

I generally don't like to write reviews for a place unless I've given them two fair tries - or they've really impressed me.  The Burg has blown me away, twice now.  So here you go.

Their burgers are, hands down, the best in St. Pete.  Their fries are fresh cut. Their beer list decent, seasonal and delicious.  I've had their pulled pork sliders twice and ended up mopping up the sauce with my ... um ... definitely not my tongue. Ha!  We've tried the gyro burger, the grilled cheese bacon burger and the regular cheeseburger. Delish - everything, every time.

If I had a complaint it would only be that they can't seem to handle their busier times - when the outside tables get filled up at lunch hour. The wait can get long.  But sit back and wait because it's some great food.

Not a scenic view, nor an amazing neighborhood - but if you want affordable, delicious food and great beer in a cute, local joint: hit the Burg.

(If your trying to decide between Ferg's and here, well, it's a no-brainer unless you love crappy service, cheap beer and bad bar food.  Then stay at Ferg's.)

Another winner from Yelp reviewers in Tampa/St. Petes, I'm so glad we took the extra 5 minute walk to go here rather than the Ferg.

An extensive beer list, they serve wine as well. On the recommendation of our bartender, Dianna, I had a mix of Lost Coast tangerine wheat beer and hard cider. Great summertime drink, not too sweet, and tasted similar to a mimosa.

The main feature though was the burger. The "Burg" is an incredible concoction of Greek and the American burger. Topped with Gyro meat, grilled feta cheese, and homemade tzatziki dressing (a recipe from the owner's mom I was told), it was incredible! I had no need of ketchup or any other condiments, perfect as is.

Great service, great food, great establishment, what more can you ask for!

Be careful, because you just might miss it. It's a hole in the wall in an area you probably just drive past. But on a non-Ray's night (or an early Ray's night), its worth to hit up and gorge.

What originally sold me was the Double Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger: I like bacon cheese burgers. I like bacon grilled cheese sandwiches. I'm willing to lose a few years for a good burger. And that's what I got. The thing is a beast since its a bacon cheeseburger between TWO bacon grilled cheese sandwiches. Make sure you have napkins and confidence because this thing is worth it.

Also worth your consideration is the The Burg, which is their Gyro burger. Annecdote time: my favorite thing from Checkers is the Bacon Philly Cheesesteak burger because I love meat topped with meat. This is a burger topped with gyro meat and feta cheese and Tzatiki. Again, make sure you have a ton of napkins because you will make a delicious mess.

Our server was also excellent. The place was packed inside, so we had to sit outside. She seemed to be the only one on duty, but she was friendly, helpful and made sure to check on us when she could.

We used to hang out here all the time back when this place was Cider House. We'd been meaning to give this place a try and finally did this past weekend.

This place definitely works more as a bar than a restaurant. It's just such a small space, but it was full. A little awkward at times because it's easy to overhear people's conversations when there's not much chatter.

I got the gyro, which came with a side of potato chips. The gyro meat was really good, as was the tzatziki. But the pita was lacking in softness and was more chewy than it should have been. The potato chips seemed to be homemade, which I loved, but they also needed a good dose of seasoning.

They seemed to have an extensive drink list...I'm not a beer drinker so I got a glass of wine, which was decent.

The bartender/waitress was average in service. She was nice and attentive. Food came out pretty quickly as well.

Although the food was good and I'd definitely come back, I still miss the Cider House. It just had an awesome atmosphere and was definitely a neighborhood kind of bar.

Edited 08/27/12: Changed to 4 stars. Have been back here a few times for their gyros, which continue to be awesomely tasty. Went back for lunch this past weekend and finally tried something new. The Chicken and Waffles are outstanding. It's served as a sandwich (smart) with the waffle as the "bread". In the middle is the friend chicken, bacon, cheese and a fried egg. Delicious, although it ended up being a bit too much after half. I also had a few bites of my friend's pulled pork sliders and nearly fell off the bar stool they were so good. Best pulled pork I've had out at a restaurant. Will definately be ordering those next time. Also had a few of the wings, which were also quite good. Nice and meaty with a lot of spiciness.

This place has turned into a favorite!

Why 4 stars?  Because it's one of the better spots in DTSP.

Again, it's always enjoyable to find good food in St. Pete, as I've had bad overall luck with that.

I read a ton about the Gyro Burger and couldn't pass it up.  It was superb, but as usual with gyros, the taste was incredibly strong in my mouth for the rest of the night.  I'm not sure if it's the lamb or the tzatziki sauce, but it's pretty overwhelming.  As much as I liked it, I would probably get something else next time.

I also had to try a fried twinkie.  It was about what you'd expect - good, but something it tasted a lot like guilt.

I'd highly recommend The Burg Bar as a great place to eat before a Rays game over spending $15 to eat ballpark food.

This bar and grill was good, not the best, but then again I don't eat beef so it made it difficult to rate them accurately do to the fact that they serve mainly burgers.  I also don't drink which also makes my review rather moot seeings as how they are mainly a bar.

I ate the Mahi sandwich which was good.  It came with a mountain of waffle fries.

My wife ordered the Pulled pork sliders which were good but not wowing.

I'll be back later with my friends who drink so I can give a more well rounded review.

Definitely smaller than I thought it would be. There were four of us, and we had to eat outside. Not a big deal since the weather was nice, though definitely not the place for a large party.

Our waitress was great. Even though she was swamped she made sure we were happy. Even with no complaints from us, she threw in a free sweet potato fry appetizer for the table because of the wait. (which was really yummy)

I got "The Burg" which is an 8oz burger topped with gyro meat, Tzaziki sauce and grilled feta. I'm a huge fan of Greek, so found this to be delicious.

The boyfriend got the "Double Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger". I had a taste and it was incredible. They literally use a grilled cheese sandwich with bacon as the top and bottom bun. I'm sure it was over 1000 calories, but honestly- it's worth it. Just work-out hardcore later in the week and you'll be fine. ha

Definitely will be returning, the other menu options sounded just as good. Looking forward to trying the Mahi Sandwich as well as the beer battered onion rings.

When I opened the door it wasn't quite what I had pictured in my mind.  I guess when I hear "bar and grill" I think more grill than bar --- but this is definitely a bar!  They only have about 5 tables inside, and then a couple more outside.  I didn't count, but I'm guessing the bar seats around 8-10 people... and it was packed the entire time we were there!

I don't drink, so I can't comment on the beer, but I will say the drink menu was larger than the food menu :)

I had a 5oz black angus burger and it was delicious!  The bun was perfectly toasted and the burger was seasoned and cooked just right.  My husband had the double grilled cheese bacon burger.  It was huge and he ate every single bite!  I believe the chips and fries are both homemade, and they were delicious as well.

There was only one server taking care of all the tables and the bar, but she was fantastic.  We didn't have to wait at all even though they were quite crowded.

I don't ever go to bars, but I would come back here again for the food.

The bill for our two meals and two sodas (hubby got a refill, not sure if those are free or not) was $24.

This small, but great place is good for a delicious burger or just to pop in for a beer. Here you'll find burgers that I've seen only seen on Travel Channel and Food network... burgers like a Krispy Kreme Donut Burger (donuts as the buns) and a Double Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger (grilled cheese sandwiches as the buns). When deciding what to order, be sure to check out the chalk board for specials.

My friends and I ordered the Double Grilled Cheese Bacon Burger, "The Burg" Gyro Feta Burger (a great suggestion by our server), and Chicken & Waffles. Both burgers were excellent. The grilled cheese burger is a heart-attack on a plate, but I thoroughly enjoyed it... and so did my inner fat kid. I've had variations of a Gyro burger before, but "The Burg" is easily in my Top 3 -- a perfectly cooked burger topped with slices of gyro meat and house-made tzatziki sauce. I didn't get to try the Chicken & Waffles but it looked amazing and by the smile on my friend's face, I have to assume it was pretty good. The natural cut fries served with the burgers were fried nicely and seasoned well.

Overall-- Great beer selection, Great food, and Excellent service. I'm definitely putting this place on my "Return here soon" list.

This place is relatively new and doing well.

The feta gyro burger was just incredible. The Tzatziki sauce made for an awesome taste. Add some feta fries and you are in feta heaven. Trust me! Do it now!

We were comfortable in this casual place. They have 2 HDTV's and plenty of beer options, as well as the ubiquitous PBR in a can.

As for service, we were blown away. The owner came by to check on us, twice. All good. Thanks!
