I've grown up eating pastries and deli goods from Butterfinger's. Over the years, I noticed a dip in quality specifically with the baked goods. The brownies have become coyingly sweet and many of the cakes are coated in so much frosting that it's impossible to taste any flavor except for just sugary sweetness. I still do enjoy certain items such as their double chocolate mousse cake. Their deli goods such as chicken salad are delicious, but slightly overpriced. I would recommend going early to get a fresh loaf of dill bread or wheat bread! Overall, still a nice local place to get a light lunch or something sweet.
Review Source:Umm No. This place is wrong on so many levels. A bakery that doesn't actually bake anything? If you want to sell quick lunches on the go then open a sandwich shop. I wasted 20 minutes of my life and $12 Â on food I threw in the garbage.
I tried a cream cheese brownie, a double fudge brownie and a chicken salad croissant. I didn't take more than two bites of anything. I was so sad that I went out of my way to try this place.
Don't hurt me but I really haven't bought into Butterfingers. As a woman with a sweet tooth (I used to eat 3-4 king sized candy bars a day) I live and breathe for sweets. Everyone brags about this place and I was so excited walking in. Now, I was greatly disappointed. It is a very small stores front with mot many items on display.
I bought a sandwich and a glazed brownie and a carrot cupcake. I felt ripped off when my total came to $12. The sandwich was meh. Nothing spectacular about it.
The brownie was dry and not rich at all. When I dream of eating a brownie, I expect the chocolate flavors to come at me, wave by wave. Subtle sweetness, too sweet and it ruins the balance. This tasted like it was out of a box. When I asked them about certain pastries, they told me that some of the items were purchase. REALLY? A bakery purchasing some of its baked goods from another bakery. What is the purpose, so you can hike up the prices? Just tell me where you got it from and I can go there myself.
The carrot cake tasted like nothing. How is that possible? The icing was super sweet and just threw off the balance. They should consider opening up a shop that they would actually be good at. Just saying.
I have purchased many items from the Ridge Road Butterfingers and have been satisfied with most of the brownies, cakes and cupcakes. .I would like to know the ingredients used in making their pastries and deli items. I know the pecan danish is NOT made at Butterfingers, what else is not? Â
The deli items leave me a little cold, always the same, salads never vary.
Quality food. Chicken salad on a croissant is a must have. Ordered the box lunch that includes chicken salad sandwich, choice of pasta salad and I selected spinach, fruit and choice of 2 cookies oatmeal and chocolate chip. Also a great place to get desserts and cakes for the sweet tooth.
Review Source:Cupcakes, cookies, brownies... Sooo delicious! I come here to buy treats for special occasions.. Everyone loves them!
Minus 1/2 star because of price.. It is pretty expensive.
Minus another 1/2 star because one time I preordered chocolate covered strawberries for sweetest day and the ones I received were honestly half the size as the ones they had out to be sold that day!
Amazing food, shockingly bad customer service.
A birthday cake is a special thing, and since their reputation is so high, I was excited to order a Butterfingers cake for my daughter's second birthday. I drive to the Munster location, just a few blocks from my house. They don't take birthday cake order there, ostensibly because the baker is across town at the other location, and even worse, the cake you order can't be delivered there. I'm annoyed, but they're supposed to be so awesome, so I trekked to Highland. And there I found a huge line and an ordinary clerk (NOT a baker) to take my order. At least 25% more expensive than anyone else in town, only two types of cake, one type of frosting, and only flowers for decoration (nothing else, like the simple rainbow I asked for. And then they refused to let me taste a sample, saying they just didn't do that. So we left, and went to Jewel, where we DID get a sample, a free cookie for my kid, and a beautiful white cake with fresh strawberries and whipped cream frosting, and a rainbow!
I love their baked goods - LOVE them - but for that kind of money I expect a little more that I didn't get. So no more Butterfingers for this family.

Review Source:A few things I will honestly mention...and not because I'm a biased local!
1. The BEST chicken salad I've ever had in my life.
2. I've never had a better tasting cake. Short story--At my high school graduation party which happened to be at a pretty hoity toity country club, the waiters dropped one of my two graduation cakes. My mom also happened to have a cake from Butterfingers. Everyone liked the Butterfingers cake better than the country club's cake--including the waiters!
3. AWESOME cupcakes, cookies, and bars. They seem so out  of place in a lunch-gox deli type of establishment, but if you try the triple fudge cupcake with shavings of bittersweet chocolate on top, you won't be disappointed!
The price is kind of a downer, but realistically, it works for the quality of food you get here!
AWESOME. Someone from work brought a cake in for someone else's birthday and they bought it here. It was the richest, heaviest, densest, most moist and delicious cake I've ever eaten, and I've eaten my share of cake.
It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. Buy a gross manufactured cake from Jewel or get a real cake from a real bakery. I choose Butterfingers.
I went to Butterfingers for lunch with coworkers. There were two large display cases forming an L and about 5 round tables with seating. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
Taking up about 60% of the display cases were their desserts - cakes, cookie bars, etc. I was dissapointed that a majority of their cakes were sold as entire cakes and only there were only slices available for 2 cakes. The slice of cake I did have was good, though.
They have one long display case of lunch food, most of which comprised of salads (macaroni salad, chicken salad, etc.). I ate their breaded chicken, which was excellent. They did have a sandwich menu, which was pretty basic. Their small crescent rolls were average.
Butterfingers could benefit from offering more creative sandwiches and coffee-shop type items to eat. They almost have it right, they  just need a little creativity.
If it wasn't for the price of everything at this deli, the stars would be higher. They've always got something good on the menu, but you have to get there early--or it'll be gone by the time you arrive.
Great salads--chicken and seafood are my faves. And if you pair a homemade croissant with that, it's heaven on a plate!
Don't forget to try one of their cookies for dessert.
