My friend told me about this place. When she lived in Chicago back in the 90s, it was her hangout. I've always driven by it and decided to finally stop in.
Even though we went there around noon, the place lacks ambiance. It doesn't make it up with the cappuccino. It was average, at best. The place was pretty dark inside. Half way through our visit, it smelled of cigarette smoke, like someone was smoking in a back room and it vented into the dining area. I don't see a reason to go back.
Horrible service! This used to be my hangout place for the past 8 years but not anymore. Something has simply gone wrong with this place in so many ways. Being overcharged for drinks that you didnt order sure is one of them. Tip of the day: dont go there with large as this is the perfect setup for them.
Review Source:In general, I like going to the Eurostyle cafes in this area but, there's something different about this place. Â I've never gotten service that was so unpersonable before. Â The skinny dark-haired girl there never greeted or thanked me once nor asked if I needed a refill the whole 30 minutes I was there. Â She spoke in a matter as if something traumatizing happened to her, just really odd. Â The guy running the place was talking to a patron next to me the whole time and didn't ask if I needed a refill on my drink even though I was sitting with an empty cup for sometime. Â
Then I started to notice a pattern that every guy, that walked in seemed to know the owner and some of them walked in the back room with him.  I was planning on eating lunch here but felt so put off here (felt like an F.B.I. agent in a social club) that  I left with an empty stomach.  Bill was $5 for 2 cappuccinos.  The extra star is for the nice interior.
Since I am home with the flu on a Sat, guess i have nothing better to do then catch up on yelping... *LOL*...
Anyway... hmmm this place is nothing special to say the least... I am not sure exactly what draws the crowds where... on the weekend nights. It is nothing fancy - inside or out. Considering if you blink you can drive right past it cuz it is in the corner of a strip mall...
I am guessing part of the draw are whatever activities are going on in the backroom, cuz ppl are in and out of there all night.... the backroom seems to be getting more activity then the front sometimes...
Generally speaking, most of the ppl there were european - which is cool, but the waitresses - ok hello, if you can not speak or understand english very well, how can you be taking people's orders???? NOT VERY WELL TRUST ME
In addition, it is the SLLLLLOOOOOWWWEEESSSTT SERVICE EVER!!!!
I am not joking, I think a snail would provide faster table service. The waitresses were not friendly, and LITERALLLY dragging their feet around acting like it is a chore that they are there to wait on tables... i have been here several times, only cuz my friend lives very close... and it is always the same. Everything else is pretty average.
During the day definitely different crowd, but still... no alcohol on the patio outside in the summer?? WTF??? and.... they  do not take credit cards?????? OMG seriously... I will  go back just cuz of location... but they definitely have room for improvement.
Having been there several times, I agree with the above comments about the service. Although the owners are Italian, the waitress didn't understand English or Italian (I know both) and was utterly confused with a simple order of pizza.
The pizza was made well with fresh ingredients, even though it barely feeds two people at a rather high price.
Place is typical Euro-fare (chrome-plated chairs, black paint, neon lights, people smoking and complaining in a foreign tongue) At least they had on RAI Calcio (soccer) with Italian hooligans cheering on in their native language.
It's a nice place for an afternoon snack, but that's about it.
The place seems to change completely when the sun goes down; we usually avoid it just from the looks of the overcrowded parking lot and goups people hanging by the door smoking.
I liked hanging out here only because it has that European feeling, with "football" on the tv, nice music and so on. One thing I hated was the smoke however, which is also pretty European :) They made a good Fuzzy Navel so I will give them that. The location is really not on my way, but I can see myself go back once in a while to hang out. The drink prices were nothing really different that club drink prices. They do have parking which is a plus for me. And one more thing, the waitresses are sort of mumbling when they are taking orders or asking if we need anything else, they should be a little more smiling and at least look like they care.
