Me and the hubby were jonesing to strap on the feed sack and get our buffet on. We love joints in the hood so made the schlep in from Northwest Indiana b/c we remembered an excellent breakfast at Cafe Zazzo about 5 years ago and wanted to try the buffet since it is supposed to be filled with Mexican and Anglo goodies. We perused their web site before we left home and saw bacon, sausages, fajitas, chicken chipotle and a host of other goodies featured prominently on the brunch menu. After way too many minutes of waiting for water and coffee, we decided to grab a plate and hit the buffet line. No meat of any kind was to be found (look at your own web site Cafe Zazzo) but rather some anemic cold shredded potatoes and a few sickly looking sopes along side some blah greasy pasta was all that was available. Meantime, we waited umpteen minutes for the well touted Mexican coffee (which never came though we got charged for it). "When will the meat be coming out" I politely inquired. "we don;t have meat" was the answer I received. No meat of any kind, not even chorizo. Not a refried bean nor a tortilla or a scrambled egg in sight. So after eating some meager, lukewarm items from the so called buffet, we waited amongst our dirty dishes (because the table never got bused) then paid our bill and left. Cafe Zazzo could be a masterpiece if they tweaked a few things. Start by looking at your own web site, add a few interesting things the buffet, keep it stocked and tend to the tables. I wanted so badly to love this place but I doubt I'll ever bother to return. Adios Cafe Zazzo.
Review Source:My wife & I came by here because we were out of brunch options on a Sunday morning. Â To begin with, there aren't very many on the south side anyway. Â I peered on Yelp and found this neighborhood gem. Â We've been living in the area for nearly a year and I can't believe we never been here before. Â I can only speak to the Sunday buffet because I haven't tried anything off their regular menu. Â The food was delicious and different from the regular brunch/breakfast options in the neighborhood. Â The chicken chimichangas were la bomba atomica. Â And you can't leave without having the deserts. Â I think I found my new regular brunch spot.
