Went to Captain Jakes on a Tuesday around 7 and they immediately sat us at a table outside with a good view. Both the Swordfish and Lobster Fettuccine were really good. Service seemed pretty good at the beginning but seemed to get slow towards the end when we wanted to pay. When we could finally leave it looked as if the staff was having their dinner and that was probably the reason behind the slow service at the end of the night.
We will probably go here again and would recommend to a friend.

My wife and I have been to Captain Jake's now about a half dozen times since they opened up last year at the Newburgh Waterfront. We love seafood, so were excited to see that a new place had opened up at one of our favorite spots.
For the most part, we've had nothing but pleasant experiences at Captain Jake's. Though the quality of the food can be a tad inconsistent at times, generally the food is pretty solid. We love raw clams and oysters, and always order one or the other (or both) when hitting this restaurant. On a few occasions we've gotten clams that were definitely not fresh, or not shucked correctly, but the staff is always considerate of that and have replaced any when we've asked. The pasta dishes are usually quite good (the lobster fettuccini is outstanding) and overall it's a nice dining experience, with the outdoor patio have some of the best views of the river on the Waterfront. Prices are moderate to high, but not much different than any other spots down there. Serivce is usually good, though if it is crowded it can get slow and the noise level tends to be on the high side, especially if the bar is packed. Overall a good place that we keep going back to, despite the small inconsistencies from time to time.
