i would not piss on this place if it was on fire, heck i would not take a dump on this place if it was a toilet... truthfully, if you are looking for any sort of night life do not look in maui, if you are looking to get something stolen or beat up by a local, by all means have at it. the only good thing to happen to this place was that they had a show by some semi decent band and everyone on the island showed up... but that is only because it was about the only live music we were gonna have all year.
Review Source:Are you freakin' kidding me with this place!! It sucked the big nut!
You have got to be kidding me! This place was a joke. We heard on the radio that they were the official after party of the Chip 'n dale dancers. So we figured it would have to be pretty decent. So we headed over there after our Feast of Lele!!
Maybe because it was a Thursday night, but the place was pretty empty. First off, we had to pay $10 cover...really?? but whatever, I paid it. There were a couple pool tables with people playing pool (which I found out later that they were people who worked for the venue) the place itself I really liked. It was big and spacious. The DJ was good and remixed music that went along with the music videos which I liked. Â
Here's the scene at the bar:
bartender: what can I get you?
my friend: chambord and coke
bartender: We are all out of chambord
my friend: oh....well then hypnotic and 7up
bartender: we are out of hypnotic
my friend: well, then whatever you have back there
bartender: rum
my friend: okay 2 rum and cokes
me: I'll have a corona
bartender hands me a nice cold corona
me: do you have lime?
bartender: no we're all out of limes.
WOW!! for a big bar they are all out of everything and the place wasn't even crowded...we were the only ones there! But whatever...I enjoyed my beer.
The dance floor had a bunch of people and one of the biggest DB I have ever seen...he had on some fancy schmancy jeans with a tight pink shirt and big stunnershades and a baseball cap tipped sideways, plus he had to be 5'2"! Can you just picture it!! DB!! They couldn't dance and they were so full of themselves...turns out they were the CnD dancers!! Shut the front door! You've gotta be kiddin' me!! I wonder if they were the back up dancers! Girls seem to like them though so I guess it didn't matter. But I did think it was worth $10 just to watch the DB show go on! It made for a good laugh.
All together I give this place one star for the nice venue and DJ, it has great potential. But they really need to stock up the bar! From other reviews it seems like this place kicks some ass, so maybe I just came on a bad night!
After living here all my life and seeing the end of Hapa's, this is the only real nightclub to come to Maui. Â The music was awesome clubbing music (not all that reggae stuff that gets boring to dance to after three songs) and the drinks were pretty strong on New Year's Eve. Â The crowd was from their twenties to thirties with a mix of locals and tourists, though mostly tourists. Â It wasn't too jam packed, but it did get hot after a while (it's in the basement of a building without air conditioning). Â The staff was nice enough and the bathrooms cleaner than your average club. Â
I gave this place five stars just because it's basically the only decent dance club on Maui but in comparison to New York and San Francisco clubs, its just a bit above average. Â There's lots of space to dance and plenty of places to sit and take a break. Â All the video screens keep the place interesting as do the go go dancers on the stage. Â Definitely the spot to hit up if you're on the West Side.
