I read all the reviews about this place turning into a night club after dark, so I went for lunch. It was 2:45 and every other sushi place in Lewisville had closed. Drinks were pretty inexpensive and the rolls we had were quite delish. My only issue is that 95% of the sushi menu had something fried or with cream cheese in it. I like fresh sushi, so I had to pick the only 2 rolls on the menu that were healthy. Luckily, they were great.
Review Source:Attention all vegetarians : Try their vegetarian rolls and ask for a side of spicy mayo (if you are a fan of spicy mayo). The combo is great. I downed 2 orders. It's very light and delicious.
This place is a nice choice if you want to get together with friends. Can get a little loud with the music at night (has a bit of a club feel to it). They usually have drink specials going on. I haven't stayed late enough for that, so can't give you too much insight.
Casual/relaxed outdoor seating available  as well.
The waiters are nice. I had one sit down with me after she found out about my recent switch to a vegetarian diet and suggested some places her vegan hubby loves. I thought it was super nice. Did speak to a rude lady one time when I called in.
Would recommend this place!
I've only been here during happy hour times for sushi and a few drinks.
Good: sushi tastes great, the drinks are cheap
Weird: the medieval decor and scantily clad waitresses that always seem to be flirting with my husband
Bad: we stopped coming as often when they changed the happy hour specials from one week to the next. We used to come every other week or so for $3 martinis for me, plus the sushi. Until we came and nobody mentioned that the special had changed until they brought the bill. We were stunned and asked about the pricing. The waitress told us it changed- we had literally been there the week before- we were so disappointed we stopped coming as often.
It's sad because we really enjoyed our mid-week date nights!
Tried to grab some food over the St Patty's day weekend on Firday night, and mangement/hostess would not let me in because I was wearing camoflauge shorts with a black short sleeve shirt. I really thought she was pulling my leg. Apparently they have a dress code, for trying to be an after hours night club with gogo dancers. Now keep in mind I am wearing green camo shorts for St Patty's day as I also attended the Dallas parade that afternoon. Â
Went to Red Neck Heaven insted. Â I think I had a better time there. Â If I wanted to go to a night club I would go to a real night club, not a place known for sushi.
I live close to this establishment and have given this place three separate visits at three different hours. I have been disappointed all three times.
- Happy Hour sushi didn't seem fresh (I'm from South Texas and the HEB store sushi tasted fresher and better than what they served here)
- Happy Hour Drinks are $3 "you call it". When my gf and I ordered a mixed drink during happy hour, waitress charged us full price because we didn't specify that the drink be a "you call it". Had to pay full price
- Went at night when the place turns into a club-like atmosphere. Don't think you'll be able to eat any sushi at this time. Food service was way too slow, although the bar did run smoothly.
- GoGo dancers don't add anything for me, but they're out in full force on Saturdays with an older crowd (30 and up)
I really gave this place a chance and it really disappointed me over and over again. Take your business elsewhere.
I can honestly say this is my favorite place to score yummy sushi. On Tuesdays they have a special (I believe till 7?) it's $10 for three rolls, great way to mix it up by trying different things! The service has always been good every time I have came here and sometimes during lunch hours the chef has offered us complimentary salad or fruit drizzled in chocolate for dessert. The food is always fresh and the presentation is note-worthy as well.
On the weekends at late night this place turns into a crowded bar/club atmosphere with some people dancing, go-go dancers, decent drink specials, and you can still order sushi!
I went on a Sunday night and it was pretty empty. The decor is great. The waitress told us they have a Dj and dancing on Saturday nights. I had a spicy miso soup that was OUTSTANDING had shrimp and crawfish. Just loved it! The Salmon skin sushi wasn't  that great but my friend had a roll I believe it was the samurai, and it was really good!
Review Source:I have been here twice on a Saturday night and the music is great they play Hip Hop. Only two complaints I do have is the women restrooms aren't kept up and there was no paper towels in the restroom, when I told the waitress she let her manager know and all he did was put a roll of toilet paper on the counter in the rest room. I think it is important to always have a nice clean restroom at a resturant. Also, it would be really nice if the music wasn't so loud and you could actually hear your conversations.
Review Source:I came here for lunch with coworkers. I was only here for ten minutes and already experience bad service. We were there for the 3 sushi rolls for ten dollars deal. We needed to ask a question because we didnt know which rolls were the 3 for ten deal. And they dont have a menu for that, just regular lunch menu. There was nobody to ask. It was so empty for lunch. The girl that seated us was talking to another guy so we waited. Five mins later, another waiter was walking by. I flagged him over but he looked at me and kept walking. UM OKAY? RUDE! and since its lunch, you know you better be on your feet so people could get back to work! anyway, she finally came over to take our order but it seemed rush because they were short staffed. There wasnt even that many people there...I dont get it. Get it together!
Food was good. The sushi rolls were good and it tasted even better knowing it was $10. I ordered spicy salmon, california roll, and a louisiana roll. The 3 for ten deal is only the basic rolls but they're all pretty good. It's a full menu basic roll and they give you 6-8 pieces so they're not skimpy on food! I wish I could give them a better rating but service sucked!!!
First of all the , the bouncer and the manager( I think) were really nice , even though the group that I went with had some dress code issues. We went on a Saturday night and the crowd was decent and the music as well. Didn't know that Lewisville had a place that was so lively! This place is close to where I live, so I'll been visiting this place more than the Addison location. Next time, I want to come back and try out their sushi!
I'll keep you guys updated !
It's the best place for sushi, in my opinion. I've visited with many of my friends whom have never tried sushi, and after chaucers they love it. I love the deep vegi roll. The spicy mayo sauce on it got me hooked.
The waitresses are usually attentive, and the atmosphere is great. I will definitely be back.
As I was sitting at the bar I pulled up the reviews of Chaucer's on Yelp. The first review the mobile app brings back is by Gabe S. I read the words, "Skinny kid bartender is a tool, wears sweatbands for some dumb reason..."
Wow, I thought. And then I looked up and the bartender he was talking about was serving the guys next to me. I had to tell this guy about his online hater. He had already read the review and commented that the guy who wrote it has a picture looking away with only his tattooed arm visible turning the wheel of his truck. What do they say about one tool calling another tool a tool? I wouldn't call the bartender a tool, he's just young. He was super attentive and I never had a glass empty for too long. Can't complain.
Not sure if it was just the Tuesday night when we were in here, but they were featuring $3 you call its. Crown and ginger goes down way too easy.
I didn't try the food, but its sushi. Also the inside of this place looks completely different than what the exterior would lead you to believe. From the outside this place could be an Applebee's. Indoors it looks like a modern sushi bar in a up and coming urban neighborhood. Only it's in Lewisville. The burbs is an understatement.
The thing about Chaucer's is that it fills up later on. It essentially turns into a nightclub with DJ's and what not. There's not much else in Lewisville so I can see how its so popular. I missed out on the crowds but word is there are Tapout shirts galore. Oh joy.
Not a bad place for a drink. I'd like to try the sushi at some point, maybe.
Skinny kid bartender is a tool, wears sweatbands for some dumb reason and uses a lot of gel in his spiked lame hair, also talks as if he's tough but a good finger flick would more than likely knock him out, down or at least send him home crying.
Other than that this place is pretty good. Â Regular price spicy tuna isn't worth it though so don't get ripped off like I did.
Lots of tuna here.
Not exactly what I expected. Â The atmosphere was way different than the Frisco location and the girls were dressed rather trashy so it didn't have the nice feel like other locations and it was dead, even for a Thursday night it was pretty empty. Â However the food did not disappoint! the Vegas rolls and the Geisha rolls were fabulous! The Tuna was cut very well too.
Review Source:I never thought Chaucer's in Lewisville be one of those places that turns a restaurant by day into a lively happening dance club at night.
Cheap drinks ($3.00 all night you call it), cheap sushi, no cover charge. Â One of those places that I can still have fun and be economical.
The DJ played mainly '90s music to the most recent ones. Â
I was told that the crowd was a little young for my age, but frankly I think the age range is within my ideal which is a rare find for me in Dallas. Â
The only complaint about this place was that the service was a bit slow, I had to try to get the waittress's attention to get updates about my food and drinks.
LOVE this place on a saturday night. I come here with my girls to drink, dance, and laugh. I've never eaten here but have heard all great things.
As for these other people posting horrible reviews...good. Im glad. You're the type of people who I look at on a weekend night here and wonder if you're upset you're missing jeopardy re-runs.
This is a sushi bar. But about 10 p.m. the crowd coming to let loose close to home (instead of driving to Dallas) is entering. The musics great, drinks are perfect, and the service is good.
The sushi and drinks are well priced, especially if you hit them during happy hour! Â The have an amazing selection of rolls - I love the variety and creativity! Â And, the fish is always fresh!
The atmosphere is a little dark and the restaurant plays the explicit alternative rock and techno music borderline too loud...Chaucer's seems to cater to a younger crowd (although we're 30-somethings). Â We brought my parents here for dinner once, and the scantily clad waitresses and the loud music made us a little uncomfortable with them...although they thought the sushi was really good (so did we).
The sushi and the price overcome the rest...so we're giving this four stars as we've been back multiple times!
This review is for the Lewisville location. I've been to the Addison location, which is alright.
I have never been here for their food, so this review is primarily for their evening events when they convert from a sushi bar to a club.
We got there at 10:30 pm for a friend's bday and were told that the place was at capacity but we could purchase some mardi gras beads and get in. How can it be at capacity but still be able to let people in if beads are purchased? Seriously... if you want to charge cover, just straight up charge cover. Obviously, this place isn't classy enough to conduct proper business.
Normally, we would have turned around and left, but considering it was a good friend's bday, we went ahead and bought our way in.
There were gogo dancers on the bar... which I guess is normal, but I didn't know that fat gogo dancers were acceptable?
It was a margi gras themed night and the idea with the beads was to give them to the "prettiest girl". They announced through the night, that any girl who wanted to compete could register and the winning girl was the girl with the most beads at the end of the night. Prize was up to $2K or something like that. Towards the end of the night, it got pretty vulgar. I thought that Chaucer's was a sushi restaurant, not a strip club. They changed up the rules and the DJ announced over and over again that the girls had to basically strip off their shirts and under garments if they wanted beads. Mardi gras theme or not, this was absolutely demeaning.
Don't go here if you're looking for some place to go to on a Sat night.
I'm never going again.
The only thing I can say good about this place is that their Sushi and drinks were pretty decent and well priced. Unfortunately that just isn't enough to overcome the rest of the evening.
Went here to celebrate a birthday and it was the strangest evening of my life. The location is okay- kind of a strange setup though to have a Sushi bar decorated in an English castle motif. Our waitress was very nice but obviously had too many tables as we had to wait a long time to get drinks, etc.
The clientele was my first sign of bad things to come- just walking in I could tell the crowd was not the upscale group I had expected. Most of the crowd was very young and the rest looked like they stopped on their way home from a meeting with their parole officer. I noticed right off that there were an unusually high number of bouncers for such a small establishment but as the night wore on I realized that they were definitely needed.
Three girls in our party had arrived when a drunk dude from the next table started causing problems. When one member of our party stood up to go get a staff member to complain the dude got right in her face and said, "Stand up bi*** and I will show you how real it's going to get in here! I would love to teach you a lesson!"
We flagged down a waitress as four dudes from the problem table were standing over us three ladies and spewing obscenities. The waitress stated that table had already been complained about by another table for loudly making rude comments about other customers.
We asked for the manager and a guy in a suit came over but was completely useless. By this time the rest of our party had arrived and when it was suggested that the other table be asked to leave he arrogantly stated that HE was the only one who would decide who could stay and who would leave.
Not even 30 minutes later the same dude swung at someone at the bar and their entire table was escorted out after they all started shouting at the staff. The funniest part was watching the dude paying their check ask for a to-go carton and start pouring food into it.
I myself have never been kicked out of a restaurant or club so I am pretty sure I would be so mortified that I would just leave and avoid any further humiliation. Apparently for this group the evening was par for the course and not nearly as big of a deal.
Great food .... HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service. Â They are not quite a lounge and definitely not in a "restaurant" state of mind either. Â The music is blaring(which is ok) but the smell of smoke is just not tolerable. Â The servers, bartenders, hostesses, doormen, and last but not least .. even the manager are all horrible at their jobs and maybe even bad people!!! Â They define "unfriendly" and all have ego issues. Â If the food weren't good .. Â those 3 stars wouldn't even be highlighted!!!
Review Source:First of all, alot of people are unsure of this location because it is so hidden behind all the other restaurants. Also, everyone thinks of Addison location when they mention Chaucers. Yes there is a Lewisville location in front of Vista Ridge mall. They have great sushi esp for the price. 3 for $10 till 7pm. Only sad part is, it is pretty dead every time I go. I recommend this place if you're looking for quality sushi at a great affordable price and clean quiet enviroment w/ a bar atmosphere!
Review Source:This is the strangest place I have ever seen in my life. It is decorated like a medieval castle with a coat of arms and a large--slightly disconcerting--eye on the wall. It is a bar, sushi bar, restaurant that turns into a nightclub after hours. All the waitresses are dressed in skimpy black attire...just odd, but my friend Caroline and I love it because it is dark and strange. Sushi very fresh and tasty, drinks good with decent selection...We never saw the after hours crowd but am sure it is interesting. :)
Review Source:This place sure does run a good hustle. Â They are all a bunch of lying liars who lie!
Huge line outside...  No one is going in.  So I ask the door guy, whats the scoop.  "We are at capacity, so one in one out, or you can pay for VIP"... He failed to mention that  VIP really means cut in line for a price. Â
When you get in there - capacity? Â Maybe for a 2 bedroom apartment. Â We were duped!
This is the dumbest place I have ever been. Â Ed Hardys (young and old) wall to wall. Â Weird servers - one jumped on the bar and started doing the running man in ugg boots and knee socks. Â The manager made her get down - she totally got in trouble. Â
Then, its time to pay the tab only to find lots of other drinks on there we didnt order. Â It was on my friends bill - and she paid, but didnt tip - if it was on mine, I would have totally caused a scene.
Bottom line - I couldnt care less if this place had the best food on earth, Im not going to support a business that misleads people.
Dropped in one night for drinks with a friend. The beer selection isn't impressive unless you're an Asahi or Sapporo fan. However, we were pleasantly surprised with the fresh, tasty sushi.
The place has a dark, intimate feel which I like. It is a bit odd, with a large eye on one wall, but it seems a decent place to spend an evening. The bartender was fairly attentive and friendly.
They have a small patio facing the parking lot.
completely LAME UPTOWN WANNA BE club. i get there for a friend's birthday and saw that there was a line out the door. I thought "wow must be a happening place" i was standing in line for 30 minutes and the line does not move AT ALL. the only ppl i see getting in are those who've been paying the bouncers under the table. I get out of line to see if it's THAT happening inside and saw through their windows and the place is NOT packed at all. So i go talk to bouncer to see if i could meet my party, who already has a table with drinks and they've refused for just one more person. i've been lots of places in dallas uptown/downtown and new york and never experienced something so lame...the only place i've waited so long for are those that were completely packed or need to be on the guest list which i understand but this was just ridiculous.
to make a long story short, i eventually got in with the help of my friends inside but when i got in, it was so not worth the wait outside. it wasn't even crowded inside and there were still tons of walk room. why in the world were they being exclusive for not even a cool place? talk about having a serious image complex.
I've only been here once... and it was a while back too... so I'm gonna give it 3 stars.
The environment was pretty cool, I guess. It was so EMPTY though... but it's maybe because I was there on a late weeknight. The waitress was nice. Kinda pricy... but the sushi WAS good.... can't forget the Seaweed Salad!
I love the new Chaucer's location in Lewisville. It is upscale and seems like not only a restaurant but also the combination of a lounge and club. There is live music on the weekend lending itself to a hip crowd but don't fret, the dress code is flexible. I have seen everything from shorts and flip flops to sleek cocktail dresses while dining at the establishment. There is a bouncer later in the evening to ensure guests are over 21 so don't be discouraged when arriving. It may seem out of your league but the food is worth it.
The dine-in only food specials run every day and include: Happy Hour Sushi 11AM - 7PM, Late Night Sushi Happy Hour 10PM - 11PM, featuring Rolls: 3 for $10.00 & up, Sushi: $2.50 & up per order, Sashimi: $8.25 & up
My favorite item is the Dallas roll. It's a shrimp tempura style roll filled with cream cheese and jalapenos, wrapped in nori and rice of course, then topped with shaved lobster meat and drizzled with a wasabi cream sauce and a spicy aioli. It's wonderful. There are two appetizers I recommend starting with - the crab eggrolls and the Cajun edamame. The crab rolls are lightly fried in a thin wrapper and filled with crab, cream cheese, and jalapeno (What can I say, I like cream cheese and jalapenos!). It's served with a sweet and sour sauce. The inside is still cool and the outside warm making for a delightful texture and flavor. The edamame is steamed but then pan fried with Cajun seasoning. It is a little oily but the flavor is phenomenal!

The service is always prompt and the servers are always dressed really sexy. It's a win win in my book - great food, service, atmosphere and price!!! I have never been during lunch, only in the evening but I love the vibe at night! Check it out!
As far as the food I will take a shit on that place! Â Drink specials are the saving grace! Â This place is sneaky it makes itself out to be a nice upscale sushi place. Â But think of it more like a bar. Â Rather a college bar. Â All the drinks scream cheap (as in night train with koolade) but they are actually cheap. Â I saw a sad lonely looking DJ booth calling my name but there's one of those there to. Â I don't know what they play but based on the artificial fruit flavor spiked drinks, and a sign that says 1 dollar extra for crown and goose. Â I'd say it for sure hiphop! Â
Waitress sucked, defiantly had this cocky attitude like she's hot shit. Â meh was a 6 when i walked in a 3 when i walked out. Â LOL bad sign when during what should be their lunch rush all the wait staff and bartenders are gossiping in the front smoking ciggs then when they see a customer (me) walking up they abashedly put them out and run to their stations. Â I laughed inside a little and was like dance monkey's dance!
Oh yea their food. Â Ordered tempura roll, tornado roll, firecracker roll, tuna, yellow tail, salmon, side of sake whatever the waitress thought i'd like best and a beer chaser (hey they are 1.50 don't judge) Â
anyways sake with artificial apple flavoring was duke! Â I guess if i spent my life in the ghetto I would've said mmm very nice reminds me of that time I was trying to survive a bush economy jobless drinking night-train cut with koolade. Â F
tempura roll worst I'VE EVERHAD who puts holiday cheer flavorings in teryaki sauce. Not sure what was in it, but it tasted like it had cinnamon, nutmeg, and it had that shiny thick texture adding cornstarch does. F
Firecracker roll (i think? its the one with the crawfish on the specials menu) Â WOW not as much of a blazing pile of crap as the first roll but pretty bad either way. Â Why? had this brown chunky sauce of bland and spicy. Â How can something by bland and spicy? Â I don't know try this and find out. Â
Enough of this place. Â I'll only return for the drink specials or if I meet a drunk WOO! girl. (that drunk obnoxiously loud group of hotties in the corner your thinking about banging but at the same time not)
Went for lunch with a friend. The place was empty! The server was VERY nice and attentive without being overbearing. I on the other hand would never even attempt to go to this place after 8pm...You could just TELL it would be crawling with douche-bags, guys and girls alike. If it weren't for that, I would have given a MUCH higher rating. Lobster roll was decent and the fried rice was meh. The plum wine was sickeningly sweet. I probably wont be returning. I would suggest that sweet server go and work at a busier place with different clientele!
Review Source:I went to Chaucer's twice in the same day on a Friday. At lunchtime, it was quiet and pleasant. The decor is gorgeous.
We were the only ones at the sushi bar and our waitress was a sweetheart. In addition to our order, the chef treated us to salmon sashimi with garlic oil and wasabi shaped like a jalapeño, too cute! For dessert he served up sliced kiwi and whipped cream. My sashimi was good and my friend loved the 3 sushi rolls for $10.
That night, we went back for drinks. The place was completely transformed. It was a super skanky Hooters as far as the waitress outfits, the music was loud and the abundance of college-age kids even louder. Our waitress was great though and our food was pretty good. I had the chicken with lettuce wraps, not the best I've had, but my friend's Ahi tuna tower was awesome.
So if you're looking for a quiet, upscale sushi joint, go at lunchtime. Want a club atmosphere where you can get your freak on? Head that way after 5 :)
Pros: Â Hot waitresses, fun to go have a drink when you are passing through. Â
Cons: Â Overpriced, small, and lame sushi. Â Hoodrats and clubbin gangster wanna bes. Â Strange clientele with a twist of white trash. Â Poor music. Â Too loud. Â Why would you allow smoking in a restaurant? Â Especially with sushi? Â GROSS!!
Won't be back unless I'm desperate or someone else is buying.
If I could give this place no stars, I would. Â
A group of fifteen of us went to Chaucers for a graduation party. Â We went early on a Friday evening and it wasn't crowded.
The prices were not outrageous, but they definitely were not low either. Â However the service was AWFUL. Â First of all, our waitress did not know the drink specials, or even if there were any. Â Next, even though we were her only table, it took twenty minutes to get our drinks. Â Whenever we tried to find her, she was nowhere in site.
Then, after she had finally taken our orders, we thought things were finally getting back on track. Â After thirty or forty minutes, she brought everyone some of their sushi, and then took off, seemingly to get the rest of it. Â Thirty minutes later, we finally decided that she was not bringing the rest. Â We finally were able to find her, and she acted shocked that we had ordered food that she had not delivered (which was written down and she had repeated to us).
So she says she will take care of it. Â Twenty minutes later and still nothing, I hunt down a manager, who I told of our situation. Â He was very rude and told me he already knew we didn't get our order and that they would bring it when it was ready. Â After ANOTHER long wait, the food finally got there. Â One of the other waitresses helped deliver the food, and asked if there was anything else we needed. Â But when we told her something that we needed (refills, sauce, etc.) she said "I am not your waitress!" Â Why would you ask if we needed something just to tell us you couldn't give it to us?!?
We immediately asked for our bill, assuming it would also take a long time to get. Â We were right. Â However the most troubling part of the entire evening was that they still added the 20% gratuity to everyone's bill, when they really should have been discounting us, or at least deciding for ourselves if this horrible service was worth 20% (which it wasn't even close).
So I found another manager (which there seemed to be alot of guys in suits doing a whole lot of nothing). Â I did not ask for a discount or free food or anything, all I asked was that they take off the automatic tip so that I could decide for myself how much she had earned. Â But he informed me that he would do nothing, so I informed him that neither myself nor anyone else from our party would be dining at his establishment again, to which he rudely walked away without another word.
There are half a dozen great sushi places within five miles of this Chaucers, so head my warnings and avoid this one at ALL COSTS!
Im kind of with emily on this place. I mean I understand your a new location, but get your shit straight BEFORE you open!
The only experience I've had with Chaucers is when my boss buys it for me. Â I call it in, the new guy picks it up and we all dine happily. I had ordered the combo fried rice for him a few times and it was 13 dollars. It never tasted terribly remarkable when I tried a sample of his and to me thats aloot of money for rice. But hey he is the boss man and makes the big bucks. The next time they wanted 15 dollars for it...errr. Ok? The time after that 17.... huh?? When I asked to speak to a manager about it I was greeted by "YEAH??" I've worked in the service industry and that kind of greeting is totally inappropriate. And for a new restaurant to have that kind of attitutde, well its unacceptable.
I understand they might be working out the kinks but when my boss called and the manager then said it was 19 dollars for fried freakin rice my happy time with free Chaucers came to an end. I thought the sushi I got was okay, but then again doesnt free food always taste pretty good? I would not reccomend this place unless you want to be subject to price changes mid-meal. Seriously.
I will never go back to Chaucer's... even if you threaten me with death. Seriously, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant.
I went back in February (day before Valentine's Day) with my brother while he was visiting from California because his girlfriend was meeting some friends here for drinks. Really, I'm not even going to touch their dress code policy... I'm all for dress codes, but seriously... the problem we had that night was total bullshit.
Anyways, we get inside, and I feel more like I'm walking into a club than a sushi restaurant for some drinks. We head over to the bar area and can barely talk because of the crappy club music they were blasting over the speakers. There's literally NO walking room, because everyone's all crammed together standing around. Behind me, there's a sofa where a girl is practically giving her boyfriend a lapdance, and to my right there's a coffee table that a drunk hipster is standing on top of and dancing. I was instantly annoyed, and it only kept building and building inside every time the lapdance skank accidentally rubbed her butt against mine while she was freak dancing her boyfriend.
It was a damn good thing we left right about then, because I was about to throw down with a skank in a red dress. Urgggh... will never be back, no matter what. Not for food, not for drinks... nothing.
I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this place.
OK so I was very excited when I first heard Chaucer's was coming to Lewisville. Â My friends and I stalked it, waiting for the opening.
My first visit I was very impressed. Â It was early in the evening on a Friday, we sat at the sushi bar, and received good service and got to try to little samples of things cooked up by the chefs. Â Everything was fresh and delicious. The next time we went we paid "happy hour" prices from happy hour menus that were handed to us.. I think it was a Sunday. Â We went back the next Sunday, earlier in the day than the last Sunday, and were first given the happy hour menus then they took them away and it was just all very confusing. Â When the manager comes over to explain things he acts like the happy hour was never offered and says things like "maybe it was our other location.." I've never BEEN to your other locations! Â
Each subsequent visit got worse... they kept changing the rules... "it's too late in the evening to get water in a glass, you have to buy a bottle"... "the sushi bar is closed, sit at the other bar 10 feet away."... and then we got terrible service sitting at the main bar.
I was enheartened by my most recent visit Wednesday night. Â The girl who took care of us at the main bar was great (actually had the soy sauce out for us BEFORE the sushi came and brought the seaweed salad BEFORE the rest of the food.. how novel!).
Why do I keep coming back? I guess because I love sushi and I seem to want it late at night! I'd much prefer to go to somewhere like Jinbeh where they give you a warm damp towel, a nice little pickled salad (I have no idea what it is but it's delicious) to start and an adorably presented orange at the end. Â But I can't go there at midnight.
