Forget it if you want a beer.
Two of us walked in on a weeknight, and we were completely ignored. Â Waitress walked past us, and the bartender looked up and walked away.
I'm not looking for someone to sit down and tell me their life story or play pattycake, I just want a beer.
We left after being ignored and receiving the awkward lack of service.
I have never been to a Hockey bar before, being from Cleveland. Â It was fun - but it scared the crap out fo me when the Blackhawks scored and all the sudden there are lights flashing, people singins and dancing...
I would completely reccomend stopping in and giving it a try. Â I didn't eat anything, but they had plenty of beer to keep me full.
This is the quintessential neighborhood sports bar. Â And given the bar's Blackhawks theme, it makes it our favorite local pub&grill. Â
During Blackhawks games, the tvs all switch to the game and the volume is punched up. Â When the Hawks score, the many goal lights scattered throughout the place light up and withing moments, the familiar Chelsae Dagger starts blaring in their honor. Â It's makes for a fun time.
As for their food, I haven't had anything I didn't like. Â There is a pretty wide variety on the menu but it is mostly your traditional pub fare with a couple twists here and there. Â The price is fairly cheap and we feel comfortable bringing Jack (age 7) in with us during the earlier evening hours.
Went here tonight with my husband as part of our "date night" that I insisted we go out on. We didn't try the food, although it smelled and looked good, and we did ask for a menu so we could order to take out in the future. The drink specials are the best in the area, at least the best I've found yet. The servers weren't super talkative but they were extremely busy, and they were on top of refills and they were nice.
I will most likely be back. It's the best place in my area that I've found yet. And I really can't wait to order food some night. They have a lot of things that look delicious with really reasonable prices!
My boyfriend and I go here at least once a week. It is super close and every night of the week they have a food and drink special. The waitresses are great BUT the bartenders suck and don't pay any attn to new customers. They pay attn strictly to the regulars. So if you would like fast and great customer service sit at a table :)
Review Source:I went to Chelios with a buddy for an appetizer and a couple drinks. Â This is a sports bar with a great atmosphere. Â The after work crowd is lively and vibrant. Â The bar area is large with ample seating. Â The Irish Nachos are tasty and piled high. Â Our server was on the spot and had a great attitude. Â It was a little loud, but then again, its a bar.
Review Source:Chelio's is a wonderful 5-star local hangout: quant and fun.
I did New Year's Eve at Chelio's with the Commish, and we had a great time. The bartenders and waitresses were super friendly. They seem to have a nice group of locals as well. It was a good age range of people as well... not all 20-somethings, not all old-timers. The bar was busy, but not crazy-packed, so we effortlessly commandeered the dart board for the evening, toting our big beers all the while. The bar gave everyone a min-bottle of Korbel to swill at midnight. Very fun!
The clincher on 5 stars over 4... the music was loud, but not deafening. And the tunes ranged from country to rap and new stuff my 11 yo likes to GnR and other oldies. Excellent.
My only ding on the place... they should have called it Chelies.
Quote of the Day
Slack-jawed patron: "So, does Chelios come here a lot."
Waitress: Sigh.
happy new year... yow, bill
I went to Chelios' to have a beer with a couple of friends. Â The atmosphere is pretty good and it wasn't packed even though it was a Friday night so my friends and I were able to have conversation without shouting. Â The server was very prompt and she never kept us waiting for her. Â
They have a rather extensive menu and we ordered their potato skins and nachos. Â The skins were BIG with quite a bit of potato still in them not like some other places that scoop out all the potato and try to top it w/ some cheese shreds and bacobits. Â These were very tasty. Â The nachos came on a very large plate and were tri-colored which definitely added to the presentation.
The one reason that I'm not giving a full five stars...price. Â You have a choice with the draft beers of getting a pint or a "tall". Â Now the "tall" is more like a "fat". Â Think of a Foster's Oil can with a handle. Â I started with the "tall" of Sam Adams Winter. Â I then noticed that the "special" on Friday nights was Sam Adams pints for $4.25. Â Not much of a special but it got me thinking what the tall might be costing me. Â I went to the pints after that. Â The "tall" was $6.75. Â I know of many other places where I can get the "tall" for under $5 and even more have it for under $6 so their price is a little ridiculous in my opinion. Â
Overall though a place that I would go to again without hesitation when I am in the area.
Stopped in Chelio's Pub & Grill tonight to catch the Blackhawks game and had some excellent chicken Quesadillas loaded to the max with fixins. The beer on tap was the coldest I've had in a long time. Don't worry about having problems catching the game as there are wide screens at every turn. Good food, drink and atmosphere - definitely will be back. Kudos Pete!
