Double Yolk

Not a fan. The food wasn't great and our waitress was extremely rude. It's too bad since we live a block away...

So driving by a little strip mall restaurant wasn't really appealing to me but it was rainy and I was too lazy to drive.

This place is truly a hidden gem. I had the shamrock benedict (corned beef instead of canadian bacon) and it was delicious. The benedict sauce was perfect not too lemony or eggy. The English muffins were great too and able to handle eggs and sauce.

The service is great. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. Plusses all around.

Don't be discourage but the smallish interior. They turn tables extremely quick. So don't be a snob like me. Stop by and have a good, hearty breakfast.

It is a rare treat for my husband and I to be able to go to lunch together.  So when we do, we try to make it someplace special (Maggiano's, Mexican, etc.).  But this particular day, he was begging me for some breakfast food.

Far be it for me to stand in the way of someone else's craving!  So we drove the five minutes from his work to Double Yolk.  Neither of us had been there before, and it's not likely either of us will return anytime soon.

We were seated right away, and they seemed to have a healthy lunch crowd, which was good for them.  It didn't slow our service down at all.  Our waitress was really nice (remember this for later), but the food was lackluster.

My husband got the french toast, and it came with a side of eggs.  I ordered the veggie omelet with pancakes as my side.

We also got a sweet roll on the side, and that came out first, like an appetizer.  She asked us if we wanted it toasted.  It sounded strange, but it was really delicious.  This actually saved my meal for me because...

...two bites into my omelet, I noticed a long, black, nasty hair in my food.  It was ENTWINED and BAKED into it.  My appetite for anything else was gone at that point.

Our waitress noticed something was wrong and I told her about the hair.  She was really, really apologetic and she felt awful.  She offered to make me a new one, but I was pretty much grossed out at that point and just wanted to leave.  She ended up taking it off the bill, which was really nice of her.

Overall, I am still really disgusted, so I likely won't be back.  There are better (and cleaner) places in the area to try.
