Chelo's Hometown Bar & Grille

This was basically a  trainwreck from start to finish ...

Family dinner Sunday, wanted something pretty affordable and Chelo's seemed like the place to go. They have dinner specials on Sunday, you can get the Scrod or Meatloaf for $9.99 with dessert, family was all about it.  

We were seated at 6:10, and finally at 6:20 the waitress showed up.  It was alright, place was pretty busy but was thinning out. So we place our drink order and she comes back 10 minutes later with some bread and sodas and a glass of wine.

No big deal, but we've already been here for 20 minutes.  So we all order and after about 5 minutes the salads come which is great which puts us at about 6:40 by the time the salads get there, but now our entrees didn't come till 7:20. I mean, we are talking about Chelos, not some place on the hill.  4 ordered the meatloaf, I had the chicken, and it took about 45-50 minutes to get that all out.  Normal wait time should be about half of that, nothing to lavish about the plates, BBQ chicken on a bed of rice (chicken cooked well but cheese on top not melted as menu states, just simply thrown on top). Meatloaf was enjoyed by all.

By this time, its about empty in there and by 7:40 everyone else is ready for their dessert. Not once did a manager or the waitress apologize for the slow wait time. So it takes the waitress 5 minutes to get the dessert menus and she comes about 5 minutes later so its roughly 7:55 asking for dessert.  It took another 15 minutes to get the desserts out. My goodness these are all prepared and the place is empty. By the time everyone finished and we paid the bill it was nearly 8:40, we had been at Chelos for nearly 3 hours and not by choice.  By the end of the meal everyone is clearly frustrated and the waitress is making snide remarks like "You'll just have to wait and be patient." Sorry that we've been there for nearly 3 hours and am tired of sitting and when we are trying to pay the check it takes you another 10 minutes to get the bill to us.

The saving grace was that the food was pretty good, but after the pitiful service I don't think there will be another dinner there anytime soon.
