Lots of choices! But the food is ok!

This restaurant is closed. Numerous requests on FB page asking what happened and if they planned to reopen but no replies. I called Chiggys in Palatine and was abruptly told that they are not affiliated.

The gyros here are alright, if a bit greasy. That's to be expected from your standard Greek fast food joint, is it not? That being said, they have a lot of tasty sammiches if that's more your style and you wish to keep it healthy. The guy manning the register was very friendly and helped mix and match some drink combos to help save our group some money. Good job cashier man, we need more like you.

Nice, clean, and diverse food choices here. This place has everything you could want form a neighborhood fast food restaurant. I hesitate to call it fast food, yes they have all your Gyros (which are great,BTW), pizza pockets, and hot dog choices. But, they also have great chicken kabobs, sub sandwiches and great salad choices. The portion are of course enormous and my favorite is that the food is always freshly made, no leftovers. The dinning area is always clean and everything is well kept. We like to walk here in the summertime and eat outside or partake in their ice cream choices or shakes. This place is family owned and the workers are always professional and happy to answer questions and take your specific order. I hope to see this place in business for a long time, they treat and value there customers.

Chiggy's Gyros is a Chicago Style Fast Food restaurant located off of Irving Park Road in Hanover Park. Having driven past it a few times before, and having had a co-worker bring up the topic of getting a gyro for lunch. I suggested he make the trip over there, and bring me back a hot dog to review. Sure enough he did, and here's the review.

The hot dog from Chiggy's comes on a regular non poppy seed bun. It has a thin pickle and thin tomato slice both of which are shorter than the dog itself, so unless you're taking big chomps you're not going to get pickle or tomato in every single bite. The sausage itself was the skinless variety and was served at the right temperature. I didn't detect any celery salt on the hot dog. The pickle and relish are a bit on the sour end of the spectrum. The onion was nicely sliced, however was in shorter supply than you might expect and the sport peppers were just the right level of spicy.  The flavor that's most noticeable with this hot dog is the mustard. There was a bit too much mustard and relish on the dog to a point where the outside edge of the bun was a bit soggy having soaked up a lot of the extra mustard and relish.

I also received fries, these were fresh cut style, but were not particularly flavorful. Not too salty, not too greasy, quite frankly just bland.

Overall the Chiggy's hot dog is about average for a Chicago Style hot dog. At under $3.00 with fries it's certainly fairly priced and with slightly lighter mustard and relish application perhaps this could have gone up to four stars, but based on my experience today I'm giving it three stars.

Chiggy's is great! I am obssessed with their antipasto salad and the house salad dressing. At least i think it's the house dressing, which I could drink. The place itself has nice people taking care of it and they'll help you with anything you need, but it's decorated without anything special. Just go there for the food. YUM!

Great food for the price. Family owned, yes they really are. Every time I go, I see someone of the family members. It's always nice to see owners of the operation in there place of business. I reciently called for delivery, even tho they don't have a delivery service. She was willing to have one of her guys come & drop off the food. What a great way to satisfy a customer. U have just made a customer for life. Thanks

While in search for the best gyro in the Schaumburg area, I ran across Chiggy's.  Their menu is extensive but I think they may be spreading themselves a little thin for a burger joint/hot dog/gyro joint.  There are a lot of Greek items on the menu and it reminds me of a more complicated Hub's. Lot's of Greek items = Greek owners and hopefully fantastic gyros, right?

The gyros was nothing special and tasted very out-of-the-package. You can actually buy frozen gyros kits at the grocery store and that is pretty much what it tasted like. Generic pita with super greasy gyro meat and half frozen tzatziki sauce. I think they just package a ton of their sauce at a time in to those little containers and pile em up in their fridge. That's how you get chunky, curdly sauce... yeck.

I've tried the burger as well and I'd say it's on par with any other regular grease joint out there and the fries are your standard frozen variety. I really have no aversion towards frozen fries as long as they are cooked and seasoned properly. They're usually crispier than fresh cut fries because the outside has a chance to crispen up while the insides cook.

Let's just say there are other better gyros joints very near by but if I were really hungry and right next door to Chiggy's, I wouldn't mind eating here. Nothing is wrong with the food... it's just not up to my standards.

I've been here several times. The gyros are overly priced for what you get but they are good. I ordered the rotisserie chicken which didn't come with potatoes and most things that most restaurants serve with it. I was very disappointed when I got home and the chicken was more like charred. It was really dry and because it had cooked so long, the skin was black and it tasted burnt. I've had much better. Too bad just kabobs closed. The staff was on their own time.

Best gyros in a long time

Not a good place. The Gyros seemed to be out of a package - not off of the skewer. They were terrible. The last visit a couple days ago the chili dogs had, at the most, a tablespoon of chili on them. Other items were very much over priced! The staff is indifferent - which is sad since the guy at the counter, who didn't seem to care if I was there or not, seemed to be the owner /manager.

Very good gyros.  Tender meat, good sauce.  Fries were also very good.  Ate gyros in Greek Town last week.  Chiggy's is way better.

My friend and I got a VERY satisfying meal (take-out) here the other day for our girlie night.  I feel like we got a monumental amount of food for $20.

I got a gyro, soup, salad, and fries.  My friend got the chicken gyro meal and a salad.  I wish I had their menu in front of me before I had ordered, though, because they had about 10 more things there that I wanted to try.  But as I did not have a menu, I stuck with what was in their name--gyros.

But what I did get was delicious.  The fries are standard fare, but the gyro was pretty delighful!  I wish they had curly fries, though.  That would have made my meal.  The salad was good, and my soup was very...noodley.  I got it for the broth because I was sick, but there wasn't enough broth in there for my liking!

I will be back to try more things!  However, don't ask if they're associated with the Chiggy's Gyros in Palatine.  They are not, and they get mad if you ask. Bad blood if you ask me!

The food is priced way to high for what you get and there's so much on the menu its hard to choose but the only thing that I've ever got that was ok was their gyros and burger. Tacos are disgusting,  greek chicken severly burnt and you have to choose salad, rice or potatoes. All other places include them all. Id rather wait to ravel to the city for real food before I spend almost 20 bucks on 2 meals.

Solid place to eat.  Huge menu makes it hard to decide though.  Haha...that is a good problem to have though.

I've been going here since I was a kid.  SUCH a great place.  The kind of restaurant that you go to when you don't know what you want, for the simple fact that their menu is HUGE!  Not only do they have amazing Gyros, but also BLTs, Chicken, awesome Julian Salads, ice cream, Pizza Puffs, Hot Dogs...you name it.  Very nice management as well.

I've seen this place change over the years, from a restaurant for locals, to changing their menu, COMPLETELY refurbishing the bathrooms, a new paint job, adding brand new Televisions, etc.  It's always been spotless as well.  They still have the same paintings on the wall from years and years ago, which I think gives it that "cozy" sort of feeling.

I've been a customer for years, and will be in the future.

Gave Chiggy's a second chance. Glad I did. They served me curdled cucumber sauce with my extremely greasy gyros, chewy pita bread and flavorless fries. You got 30 bucks outta me in the last few weeks and that will be all.

    Signed,
    Not a happy camper. :(

I wasn't really impressed with this place and I will give it a 2nd try. The menu is huge. I got the Char Dog. It would have been good except it tasted like they put salt on the hot dog, so it was pretty "not good." My kids liked their spaghetti. The italian beef was standard, nothing exciting.
Service was nothing out of the ordinary either. The atmosphere is nice, however. We'll be back to try something different.

This 5-star review is based almost entirely Chiggy's gyros sandwich.  It's the best in the area.  I order it everytime I'm there.  The "meal deal" also includes french fries which are very good and you get a lot of them.   There's a lot of items on the Chiggy's menu, but for me, it's all about the gyros!  Good friendly service also.

Good food but for fast food not worth $10-$15 a plate!  Too expensive for what you get.

Clean and well-kept - the first two things I notice about this local long-time favorite. The staff is consistent, the service good, and the food is varied, creative and wholesome (which says a lot about a fast food joint!). If you like Greek salads - indulge in the large Greek salad. It is fresh and delicious. Fast service, convenient parking and the right price give this place four stars in my book! (Oh, best have the baklava for dessert...)

We stopped here for dinner after Six Flags as it was a holiday most places closer early or just plain were closed, and my quest for the best Gyro continues with Chiggy's

Got a Gyro and some fries nice fresh and hot, and oh so tasty too I might add, it was just what the doctor ordered for dinner on this evening

and it won't break the bank, but man like a lot of places around Chicago Land these guys have a extensive menu so hard to choose at first, a Gyro is always a good fall back meal as you know what you are getting and how big it should be

good fast and friendly service here

Chiggy's is a great lunch spot.  We swing through here usually on a Saturday afternoon for a quick lunch.  I am a new Gyros eater, so I only have a few others to compare them to, but I am a fan.  I get my gyros well done and find their pita bread to be fresh.  There are soooo many "meal deals" and the portions are hugs.  For the three of us, we usually order one meal deal - share the fries and order individual sandwiches for the other two.  We have yet to be disappointed and we will be back soon!

OK, so was craving gyros today and admittedly it's been a while. The place is fine the gyros was good. The fries are totally mediocre. I'm not sure what everyone is raving about in terms of the generosity of meat. It seemed like an average size gyros to me, not skimpy by any means, but on the way over here was thinking me and the hubby should split one, but was good he insisted on getting his own. Agree about the price, not expensive, but not a great value either. I will have to say the tzaziki sauce was good. The menu is huge at this place. The salad looked big and good, might have to try that if we stop here again.

    MY FAVORITE!!
I'm Greek and my mom does make the best lamb ever....but I have to give Chiggy's credit, their Gyros are soooo good!!! I've never had a better Gyros than from Chiggy's. I've been down in Greek town plenty of times, and their Gyros don't even compare..!
Their Tzaziki Sauce is amazing and so flavorful..and they give you so much meat your going to have left overs, so you better order an extra pita! their fries could be better, but they are still pretty good. If your ever in the burbs and get a craving for a Gyro..definetly try Chiggy's!! :)

If you're in the NW suburbs and you have a random craving for gyros like I do, especially with some tasty Tzaziki sauce.  Go to Chiggy's...best gyros in the area.

You can find anything here!  Gyros, greek chicken, skirt steak, hot dogs, soups, salads, and subs.  Free soda refills, and good burgers, are a few reasons we keep going back.
