McDonald's

Filthy, slow service, unruly unsupervised children.  At the start of the evening rush they kept just one register of three open with over a dozen customers standing in line while two employees sat at a table in the dining area talking.

McDonald's is McDonald's... and honestly, it's one of my favorite fast food places for many reasons, probably consistency first and foremost.

Prime example: In 2005, I was at O'Hare's Mickey D's and ordered a Sausage Biscuit for breakfast. Delicious!

Then I flew over to Greece. When we were at Athens' airport, getting ready to fly back home, I had -- that's right -- a Sausage Biscuit for breakfast! And it was identical (and just as delicious) as the one I had back in Chicago.

They also have great washrooms if you are on the road, and my kids never turn down McDonald's when we are traveling. Plus their coffee is one of my favorites!

But I digress. The reason I'm yelping about Streamwood's McDonald's is that, in my humble opinion, it is the BEST McDonald's in my neck of the woods. We have roughly three near-by (in Hoffman Estates, Schaumburg, and Bartlett), not counting the one on Irving, but in comparison to the rest, the food at the Streamwood McDonald's is always good, hot, tasty and usually prepared the way we order it (my kids can be picky).

The others just don't come close in consistent quality (and they almost always get the order wrong). And as mentioned, the interior is a little nicer than most McDonald's. Luckily I live close to this one, but we have gone out of our way and skipped over the other area Mickey D's to order specifically from the one in Streamwood!

I've been to better and faster McDonalds.  But the interior is "fancy" and clean, so I guess it could be worse.

Solid three stars--they usually get the order right!
