We decided to check out Citron Bistro as one of the restaurant's participating in Denver Restaurant Week because their set menu looked delicious. We made a reservation for 7:00pm on a Saturday and had to wait about 15 min for a table. They were pretty slammed. Once seated, we also had to wait for 15-20 minutes for our server to take our order. She apologized as they probably weren't expecting to be so busy. Everything was amazing and our server was VERY attentive throughout the evening. The grouper was fabulous and their chocolate bread pudding and creme brulee were outstanding. A true gem that we will visit again. The noise level was very high, so it would not be the best spot for a quiet romantic evening.

I've really wanted to try this place for awhile. After a friend had bragged about their Creme Brule nepolean I decide to take him to  DRW with me. For an appetizer we got the Mushroom strudel and craw fish po boys. Both just simply davine. For our entrees we got this pasta in a to die for cream sauce with shrimp, lobster, muscles crab claws. It was very rich, but I couldn't stop eating it, I had to stop and rest and would not let the staff take my plate until every last morsel was gone. We also got the duck breast with Cumberland pomegranate sauce with extra fried duck skin. It was very flavorful and very hard to stop eating. We still had dessert coming with bread pudding and white chocolate pistachio ice cream. So yummy just not enough room for it all. Then we also had the creme brule Napoleon. It is defiantly the best creme brule I've had. I cant wait to go back.

I have to say our waiter was pretty amazing. Very attentive, friendly and social. I just like the all around vibe of this establishment.

Everything on the menu looked great! I splurged on the smoked salmon platter, which featured the best English muffin I've ever had. Crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside--yum! The platter, combined with complimentary mini muffins and promptly refilled hot coffee made for an unbelievable dining experience. Hank, our water, was very attentive and made us feel welcome. He said in all of his seven years at the restaurant, I was the only one to have finished the whole platter! (whoops!) The only thing that could possibly make this place better is lower prices.

Most of my friends didn't recommend the Citron. I decided to check it out myself since I was close by and hungry. Ambiance was good, staff was polite. Ordered the Tequila chicken and Sea bass for our entrée. Tequila chicken was great. Sea Bass was horrible, seemed like the fish was taken out of the freezer and dropped on the pan, the outside was cooked and the inside was stuck together like rubber. I am not a fussy eater, but that dish killed my appetite and almost made me throw up. Our waiter did apologize and offered to take it off the bill and give us desert on the house.  The manager/owner who sat us, never once came by to check or apologize for it.
3 stars for the polite staff, ambiance and the chicken. But you are not going to drag me back there.

My husband and I dropped into Citron Bistro for a quick lunch.  The restaurant wasn't crowded, but it took several minutes for the host to greet and seat us and several more minutes to catch the attention of our server.  As we waited for service, the decor really caught my eye.  Citron has done a great job with renovating the old Marie Callendar's building to a modern and classy restaurant that seems to appeal to a business crowd.

I ordered the lunch special which was New England clam chowder and calamari sliders.  The chowder was just how I like it -- thick and creamy.  Unfortunately, it  tasted like Campbell's canned chowder versus homemade.   The fried calamari sliders were a disappointment.  They were bland and even the fresh aioli couldn't save them.

All-in-all, Citron may be a good place for business lunches.  They offer a nice space with interesting lunch specials.  I think they just need a little more practice developing their flavors.

Citron is a nice restaurant with some nice decor and very polite service.  Decent menu and decent prices, but overall it just seems boring.  I asked the server for a recommendation and the turkey avocado club was recommended.  I was not impressed and there was even a little variation with a herb aioli added.  It just didnt have that wow factor you would like to compliment such a pretty restaurant.  My wife had the calamari sliders which is adventurous, but it was pretty bland.  They had some waygu sliders that I might want to try next time.  I would go back and they have coupons quite often, so hopefully the other menu items are much more flavorful.

Went here for a company luncheon.

    Service: ****
Fast and attentive. They filled our glasses multiple times but there were a few awkward moments with timing of courses.
    Food ****
Really tasty! I ate until I was stuffed and wished I had room for dessert.
    Atmosphere ***
It was pretty loud. The restaurant has an open floor plan and is larger then you would expect. I wouldn't come here for an intimate dinner. But Its perfect for a girls night out.
    Price ***
The prices are pretty hefty for lunch $10 a sandwich and $14 an entree. Higher then I expected for the area and the time of day.

I went here twice and I really liked it. Their food is good and the atmosphere is very nice. The drinks are strong. However, the desserts aren't very good. I would go somewhere else to satisfy my sweet tooth.

We thought we would try this place based on all of the great reviews. Our server was great but the food, well, All i have to say is that you people are crazy! This place has overpriced bland cafeteria food. The potatoes tasted like they were freshly made - right out of the box. The bread was grainy, chewy and totally displeasing. We all ordered the prime rib special. I was not impressed by the strange tasting vegetables or the fatty prime rib. The only reason this place gets two stars is due to the Tuesday night half priced bottles of wine. To give them credit they have a decent wine selection. If I come back I will most likely be drinking my dinner...

The food is ok.  The service is rude, pushy and inattentive.  The specials are ok but regular prices are a bit on the high side for the quality of food you get.

Note: the happy hour hamburger is not the same as their menu hamburger.  Instead it's some pre-frozen burger that's hardly worth the calories.

There were eight of us who were in Denver for the whole week. Perfect excuse to find a new place and try it out. I yelped and found this place and I made the reservation at this restaurant for the eight of us.

The ambiance was really good and classy.

The server was really good and she kept coming back and asking everyone for drinks. No one was on time so she had to come back after each person walked in. She was really sweet.

The food was really good too. The pasta, the fries that I had ordered were well cooked and were great. Other people also liked their food that they had ordered. Overall it was a good experience and will definitely go back there when I am back in Denver.

My husband and I came here for the happy hour. We sat in the patio. Good happy hour menu. We ordered chips and salsa. Their salsa is super good, wish you could have refills! If you order a steak, start with medium rare. I had a filet rare, but I don't think their grill gets hot enough to make it worth it.

I'd love to come back here for lunch and will definitely try again for happy hour.

Ugh, I hate the suburbs. However, I feel bad making my suburb-dwelling friends meet me downtown every single time we get together, so I compromised this past Sunday and ventured out to Citron Bistro. The patio is where it's at - the restaurant itself is too dark and depressing for a nice summer's eve. Even better than the lovely patio were the happy hour food and drink prices. Personal pizzas for $5 and a large assortment of small plates for even less than that?! No arguments here!! Specialty cocktails are $5 also, and the Moscow Mule(s) were delicious. The service was not great - come to think of it, I can't even remember if we had a man or a woman helping us out. It wasn't terrible, just incredibly un-memorable. Oh well. I am (and will continue to be) a sucker for a good happy hour!

We had an enjoyable dinner at Citron Bistro.  As another poster commented, from the outside this doesn't look like much, but inside is a different story.  It is not a large place, but is well-appointed, pleasant atmosphere, and more importantly, great food.

We ordered the Cioppino, 2 different salads (steak and salmon), the burger, the pork snitchzel special, and one of the chicken dishes.  We also had the calamari and guacamole for appetizers.  All of us enjoyed the food, finding it to be fresh, tasty, and cooked as we all ordered it.  My husband did comment that the cioppino was different from that in San Francisco, but it was just as good.

We used Open Table to make a reservation (7 for dinner can be a difficult find on a weekend night), and when we arrived we were greeted and taken straight to our table.  We had a great waitress who was engaging and attentive, but not overly, to all of us.

We did not opt for dessert because we were honestly full.  But I'm sure it would have been good if we had tried.  We will be back when in Denver again, that is for sure!

Lots of family was in town so a low key, non busy was mandatory.

Food was solid. Waitress was fairly sassy actually, not mean just sassy.

Weird that they asked me how I wanted my salmon cooked. Uh. Cooked?

If you follow my reviews I have a grandma rating and this is outstanding on that scale. Nothing on the menu was scary but they did a couple of nice twists on classic dishes.

On the bright side: The Citron Bistro is clean and pleasantly appointed. There really aren't any bad tables, so you don't have to sweat getting stuck by the toilets or the kitchen. You can also sit outdoors if you prefer. We've eaten there several times, mostly lunch, and the food has consistently been pretty good.

As for the not so great: We went there for dinner this evening, and I had their prime rib. I ordered it medium after being told it would be very pink. However, the meat I was served was closer to medium-well done. When I questioned the waitress, I was told that it was less pink than promised because it's dipped in au jus--which it definitely was not. The au jus at Citron Bistro is slightly thick, more like gravy. Had it been dipped before being plated, it would have been very obvious. Also, the gorgonzola mashed potatoes were bland and contained no gorgonzola. Small issues, perhaps, since the overall meal was fairly decent. But I don't like being lied to by overbearing waitstaff, so the tip was somewhat less than generous.

The real disappointment was my dining companion's Mediterranean pasta with chicken for $13.99. It was light to the point of being downright chintzy, with very little chicken on it. It might have been an oversight on the part of the kitchen, but this plate of pasta was more like a child's portion than what you would serve a grown man.

All things considered, the Citron Bistro is overpriced for what you get. Their lunches are probably a much better deal. I doubt that we would go back again for dinner.

I guess that reviews are fully dependent upon when you have the experience.  While I stand by my earlier review about the dinner that we had, the Mother's Day brunch SUCKED!!!  I would never eat brunch here again.

For $33/adult and $14/10-years and under (thus, the 12-year old with us that ate three pieces of bacon and some eggs cost us $33), I expect some really special and delicious food.  The food was just so-so and comparable could be had at half the price elsewhere.  What I do not expect, is to be charged extra for cups of coffee and OJ.  You read that right, coffee and orange juice were extra.  Are you fucking kidding me?  No complimentary mimosas for mothers?  Really?  No flower for Mothers?  Sad!

Overall, I was responsible for a party of 11 trying Citron for Mother's Day Brunch.  I feel embarrassed and insulted by Citron.  I shan't make that mistake again, and you would be foolish to do so, too, knowing what I just told you.  Stay away from Citron Bistro for brunch!

This experience was so bad, that I doubt that I will return for dinner again.

Visited here for a family happy hour recently and had a good experience.  We sat in the bar area as it was too windy to enjoy the patio but definitely will be an option next time.  Happy hour pricing is excellent for both food and drinks; 5 of us totaled under $60 with a couple of appetizers as well as everyone's food and drinks!

Was fairly busy but our waiter was as attentive as we needed him to be and food was fresh, yet extremely fast.  Several had the burgers which were juicy and decent.  Seasoned fries were excellent.  The spicy hummus was spicy for some and bland for others and comes with pita bread.  Chips were overly seasoned with a southwestern seasoning but the flavor was still okay; however, the accompanying salsa was bland for my taste. By the time we left it was pretty packed in the bar, however the restaurant side wasn't busy.  Happy hour pricing is only available in the bar and patio areas so know that before you choose where to sit!

All in all, good experience; somewhere I'm sure we'll stop by again.

It categorizes it self as Mediterranean and has owners that were born in Greece.  I was in the mood for some Greek food and thought I would try Citron Bistro for lunch based off this knowledge.  If I only ordered the Hummus, this place would have gotten 5 stars but unfortunately I ordered the Beef Gyro.  Shame on me for not reading the description, but I wanted me some Lamb!  I felt like I was back in Chicago eating a famous beef sandwich on Pita bread.  It was seasoned and flavored great, but put that Beef on some french bread and stuff my Pita with thick cuts of freshly shaven Lamb!  Hummus was amazing though and highly recommend that.

Went to CB for 5280 week......lamb chops were great, everything else was ekkkk. Seared scallops were raw the 1st time and then too salty and then the 2nd round of potatoes were not even warm. The calamari was like rubber bands and the white chocolate cheesecake was stale. Disappointing ;(

Had lunch here in December (forgot to write the review)

I had the Cuban style sandwich with fries and it was really good. The rest of the people in my party were very satisfied with the all aspects of the food as well.

The restaurant is very spacious, very clean , and cozy.

The service was excellent too, greeted by the owner/manager when we entered, our service was very friendly and conversational, she knew about the dishes on the menu. We were also thanked by owner/manager when we left.

Overall a great experience and highly recommended.

Not sure how this place stayed under our radar so long, but about four years ago restauranteurs George Karas and Tom Karantounis created a wonderful restaurant called Citron New World Bistro.  It is located in a space previously occupied by Marie Callender's near the intersection of Yosemite & Hampden.  The restaurant's interior has been completely updated and has a fashionable contemporary decor with a stylish supper club ambience.

The food is exceptional.  We had the Cioppino & Seabass and finished with their house specialty dessert, Crème Brûlée Napoleon, and everything was outstanding!  Denver native and Executive Chef, Andrew Martinez has spent time at many Denver restaurants including Baby Doe's, Simm's Landing, Off Belleview Grill, Manor House, and Season's and is doing great things with the menu at Citron Bistro.

We found Citron Bistro through <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.OpenTable.com&s=56f811c7401f0e61499895bbed3d443e04df46954fb085e7eff5958030ea0aa2" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.OpenTable.com</a> where they are currently offering 1000 point tables.  Citron Bistro will also be a featured restaurant during Denver's 5280 Restaurant event.  Check out the 5280 menu at <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.citronbistro.com%2Fevents%2F5280.htm&s=a86f8ae6dc70de92480df37412eff3541632a4185e0855fa16f16e04b385d27d" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://www.citronbistro.…</a>

This place is literally the most happening spot by my place. I think they get half their customers by people just driving by and seeing how crowded the parking lot is (that's how they got me!)

I have not been super impressed by the food after three times eating there, but the food is decent enough to keep me coming back to give it another shot. The BF always chooses better (the burger, a southwestern salad and mini pizza). The fries are exceptional, I can say that convincingly, and the happy hour prices are pretty good ($2.50 beers, $4.50 house wine, $3.50 wells and some select food items). I think this place wins out because of the atmosphere. It's a great date spot, group spot or bar spot. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area.

Came here for lunch when every other place nearby was closed for Labor Day!  Wasn't sure what to expect (didn't have any expectations).

I ended up ordering off the Specials menu for the day.  It was a talapia with a briliiantly creamy sauce, rice and veggies.  Sounds simple but it was SO DELICIOUS!!  My lunch mates had a salad (can't remember each one) and thought it was good, nothing over the top crazy though.

Service was good.  We sat outside - they have a lovely outside patio with plenty of tables, some in the shade and some in the sun.

I probably won't be going out of my way to come back here but it's definitely a good place to eat in the area!!

Came here for brunch after church with the boyfriend.  I immediately liked the atmosphere and the service we received.  It was very laid-back and chill., yet the service was attentive and quick.

I loved that instead of a bread basket, we got a plate of mini muffins (in different flavors!).  We ordered the Eggsadilla and Mediterranean Omelette.  Both were really good portions and delicious.  The potatoes were perfectly seasoned and crisp.  Each came with a cut of pineapple - so juicy and sweet!

And the price was really nice! It came out to be less than $30 for the two of us. Will definitely be frequenting here often :)

My wife says they have a great happy hour that's "definitely worth it for drinks, food and a few friends."  I've not been but it's usually packed for happy hour.

We have eaten there at least four times.  Their dinners are well portioned, well constructed and tasty!  My wife and I can have an appetizer, salads and part of our main dish for less than $60.  I think they most expensive thing on the menu is $18.

Their menu is diverse with Mexican sandwiches, fish, pasta, steaks, and a pinch of Mediterranean.  If you're looking for a causal place to have good food and better service, this place will not let you down.

I hear their brunch is good too.

My husband and I ate there last night on the recommendation of one of his coworkers. The ambiance was nice; warm, mellow, and very chill. We were greeted, seated, and offered a drink menu within our first five minutes, which is definitely a service plus. Our menu choices:

    Appetizer - Roasted Feta (Delish!)
Entree for him - Bistro Club (He's eating his leftovers as I type this. Win.)
Entree for me - Paella (Authentic, fresh, and flavorful)
Dessert - Creme Brulee Napoleon (We shared. Pretty damn tasty.)
Drinks - Hefeweizen for him, Cosmopolitan for me

Bottom Line - delicious food, excellent service, and overall great time. I highly recommend checking this place out. We will definitely be repeat customers.

Hmm.. i've been 3 times.. the 1st time was simply amazing!  awesome food from the HH menu and the drinks were tooo damn tasty!

the last 2 times tho.. was another story.. i want to really like this place but the consistency.. is not there.. weird because the 1st time I came they were 30 min from closing.. and the other 2 times were a bit earlier.

The orange mojito is DELISH!  I really want to give a higher rating.. but the lack of consistency really does hurt.

I live down the street from this place, and love taking people here who have never been, plus I get my friends on my side of town and off south broadway for a night! :-)

The specials I have had were always great.
The service is friendly, but can be slow if the place is packed. (Fridays and Saturdays)- I did just drive past and seemed pretty packed for a Wed. Night.
Great Happy Hour and Weekend Brunch specials.
    The decor is inviting.
The bathrooms are clean and have mouthwash, femm products etc. (for the ladies room...haven't tried the men's yet, but my date said In total man voice" yeah they are ok..it's a bathroom..")

We went here for a special birthday dinner and they were very nice to our large rowdy group....the bill was not as bad as we were expecting with 10 of us... drinks, apps, main course, and desserts...

    Decent happy hour

A friend and I came here late one afternoon on a spur of the moment decision after seeing it off of Hampden. We ended up sitting outside on the patio since it was a great summer day. The timing of our arrival couldn't have turned out more better, because it was right in the middle of their happy hour. Our server greeted us promptly and came us a happy hour menu which had some really great decisions.

For $3, you could get a double cheeseburger and fries! The happy hour menu ranged with a variety of appetizers and sandwiches all priced between $3, $4, and $5. Drinks off their mixed drink list are also half off and they had $2 beers and $3 glasses of wine.

I decided to go with the prime rib dip sandwich and the chicken souvlaki. My friend decided to go with the double cheeseburger and fries. The prime rib sandwich was average, but for $5 what could you expect. My friend's burger and fries, however, is a great deal. My friend didn't rave about his burger, although the portion size of the plate was enough for one person.

For the price and selection of their happy hour, you can't really get any better with what you get. The regular dinner menu seemed kind-of overpriced for the quality of food that one would expect from the quality of the happy hour food. It was a decent experience with slightly above average food.

I went here for brunch last Sunday. It was solid. The food was good but not amazing. I'm giving it 4 stars anyway because it was a great place for a group (there were 10 of us on a Sunday around 11a and we didn't have to wait for a table) and the waiter was super friendly.

Everyone in our group liked there food and some people even said it was above average. I have a greek scamble that was nothing special but I still really enjoyed the experience, thought the food was well priced and liked the atmosphere.

Casual atmosphere, serious food. Pretty accurate assessment of the place. We went on Saturday night and it was PACKED.
Happy hour specials are really great - 2 for 1 drinks!
Prime rib special on Wednesday & Saturday nights is phenominal and a great deal. Atlantic Salmon is fresh and delicious, served with roasted vegetables and a sun dried tomato topping. I'd also reccomend the tenderloin special - medallions of tenderloin served a top crostinis - accompanied with two different sauced. Very generous portions. Saw the schnitzel special and am dying to go back to try it.
Heard their lunch menu is equally as delicious - ceasar salad is apparently to die for.
This place could be one of the best kept secrets of Southest Denver.

I met my friend for dinner.  It was a nice summer night so we sat on the beautiful patio.  The staff was great, and our waitress Steffany was very helpful.  They have some good happy hour specials be we had just missed out on those.

We ordered a couple of beers and checked out the menu.  Everything looked great.  I had the sea bass with crab citron sauce.  It was so good.  My friend had the chicken linguini and a side salad.  Everything looked fresh and she said it tasted good.  We opted out of dessert but the citron berries and ice cream looked like it might be a winner.  I will be back....maybe we'll try out the happy hour next time.

I enjoyed a nice dinner with friends at Citron Bistro. The patio was very inviting, and I wish the rain hadn't chased us indoors. As advertised, the restaurant certainly had a nice ambiance. The dish I had (shrimp linguine) was fresh, but nothing special. My fault, I suppose, for sticking with something safe like pasta. Also, and I hate to say it, but the service was a bit slow. I know, I don't like being rushed through a meal any more than you do. Personally, I think dining out should be the evening and not just the foreplay. Things were just a bit sluggish here for my taste.

I think perhaps it's worth another try.

LOVAH-Boy and I met our good friends here for Denver Restaurant Week on Saturday night.  I was skeptical when we pulled into the parking lot and saw that the building resembled some now-defunkt chain restaurant, but was pleasantly surprised by the classy, warm interior.  We enjoyed a Happy Hour drink in the cozy bar while we waited for our table.

The Denver Restaurant Week menu offering gave you 3 choices for first course, 4 for second course, and one dessert offering.  For the first course, L-B ordered the oven-roasted feta with kalamata olives and grape tomatoes.  It was served warm, drizzled with olive oil and alongside warm pita bread.  Simply delicious!  It beat the pants off of my Greek Shrimp appy, which was just okay, but nothing to write home about.  I'll tell ya what I WILL write home about.  The rack of lamb chops:  "Australian lamb, with an oregano walnut lemon pesto."  They were succulent, tender, and perfectly grilled.  I hardly noticed the gorgonzola mashed potatoes and the ratatouille-like vegetables that were served on the same plate.  L-B ordered the sea bass, which he enjoyed, but for once I didn't want to steal his entree.

The final course was a very unusual, but fabulous Creme Brulee "Napoleon" (apparently it's their signature dessert) - Layers of phyllo pastry with creme brulee and strawberry garnish.  It was fantastic!  I hope we're in this part of town again soon so we can try some other menu items.

Oh, and just let me comment on the service.  As it was the first night of Denver Restaurant Week, the place was extremely busy, and there were gaps in the service from the kitchen, however, our waiter was very attentive and kept us informed of our food's progress and kept our water and wine glasses filled and we never felt neglected at all.  The food came out piping hot and fresh and we had a fabulous experience.

WOW, we couldn't believe how great this place was!  It is in the building that used to house Marie Callendars, but they have TOTALLY remodeled and the place is gorgeous with hardwood floors Very Classy!

The first thing they do is bring you this FABULOUS Olive tapenade ( don't even like olives) but this was to die for with their warm from the oven focaccia bread. They have 2 microbrews and they offered my hubby a taste of each before he ordered.  I had a glass of pino grigio.

We asked for recommendations from the very friendly waiter and I chose the jalapeno chicken pasta  $14 and my date the $10 beef tenderloin special.  WOW.  The portions were HUGE!  and my pasta was luscious & flavor filled not like the usual lots of noodles not enough stuff on it type.

We then shared the Napoleon Creme Brulee'  OMG!!!!  This is like heaven in your mouth!  Those are my two favorite desserts on the planet anyway.. but to have them combined!  Well it's pure genius.

The bistro is owned by two Greek brothers who introduced themselves and were very friendly and helpful.

My husband spied their HUGE porkchops on a plate going by and he's going to try them next time we eat there.. and there definitely will be a next time!!

The whole evening cost $44+tip. not bad at all for drinks dinner & dessert.

Terrible. Well, maybe not terrible. I did give it two stars. I guess it could have been worse. However, I in no way would recommend this over priced piece of you-know-what.
What happened is I have a new job down on Hampden and I've been eating a lot of fast-food for lunch. Yesterday I decided I deserved a sit down meal. I walked in and looked at the menu. I should have known then because there wasn't a single thing under $10, but I wanted to treat myself. What I ended up getting was the lunch "special" which turned out to be nothing more than a little turkey sandwich. I could have gotten something three times the size and taste at Subway for half the price. That part was my fault. I had seen the menu. The worst part was the service. They treated me like I was a burden on them because I was a single diner. It's not like I was taking up valuable space.

Whatever. That's why you never go to sit-down restaurants in the outskirts of the city.
