We attend the shows in the Green Room at the Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse and have a blast. Â It's rare that the host is as funny (or maybe even funnier) than the talent.
Many of the comedians have toured and starred on popular late-night talk shows and even the ones that are new to us have been great.
This is a MUST DO with friends.
PS: Be sure to haggle with the host when he asks for the cover charge. Â To not do so would insult his culture.
I've been to the Thursday show at Arlington Cinema & Drafthouse on multiple occasions. The shows were extremely fun and more than worth $5.
This isn't an open mic, so if you're a fan of comedy or you just think you might want to give it a go, this is a great place to see some of the top performers in the DMV as well as talent that's drawing from the likes of L.A. and NYC.
The Cool Cow Comedy shows at the Lorton Workhouse are a great alternative to going into the city for a similar set at The Improv. Â I've seen two of their shows now, one featuring a national headliner and one local showcase. Â Both were really good and a fantastic bargain ($15 and $10 respectively).
The Workhouse is a creepy venue, but that kind of bumps up the entertainment factor of your evening. Â The shows are held in a 100-seat auditorium complete with theater-style seats and two rows of floor level chairs... where you don't want to sit if you dislike being singled out. Â They sell beer, wine, candy, and snacks at a little concession cart before the show, but that's about it, so don't come hungry. Â
Great value for your money!
