Was in town visiting family and looking to go out downtown with my cousins. The local family members acted like it was a no brainer where we should go--Corned Beef. Name sounded strange to me, but what do I know? Glad I followed along, because this place was awesome. Multi-floor, huge cavernous place with different areas for different vibes. Rooftop patio was cool place to start, then we took over one of the billiards rooms. All the different areas made it feel as if you were bar hopping without ever leaving!

Went on a weeknight that was pretty dead, and early.  Service was good, food was excellent!  The atmosphere and menu were amazing.  We'll be back for sure!

I can't take this place seriously.  The food is mediocre at best which is sad considering if they spent the time and money on the food and not catering to the drunken masses it would be very good. The place was not clean, it was obnoxiously loud, and the doormen thought they were on American Gladiators.  If I ever go back, it will be kicking and screaming.

I dont really like eating here the couple times ive been for lunch have not been that great, while not really bad it wasnt really good and their pizza even though wood fired in a brick oven or whatever was not very good either. However, it is a great place to go on the weekends at night for a drink and maybe some karaoke

Corned Beef & Company is one of the most iconic restaurants in Downtown Roanoke. It was originally located in the City Market Building but quickly outgrew the stand in the building and relocated one block over to the current location on Jefferson Street. Now, it is one of the largest and most diverse restaurants in the area and remains a favorite for many.

It's difficult to describe the atmosphere at Corned Beef & Co. because it is a little of everything. The entrance is part of the sports bar, but off to the left is a room with a dance floor, and after that room is a large area with pool tables, and behind those are private rooms, and upstairs is a casual dining area, and above that are more private rooms, and there's also the large rooftop patio. Hello run on sentence! I think the restaurant can comfortably accommodate 54,000 people at one time.

The menu at Corned Beef & Co. is also very diverse. They offer a large selection of salads, pizzas, sandwiches, burgers, steaks, seafood, and chicken dishes. I've tried the pizzas, salads, and sandwiches and I can't think of a bad meal I've ever had there. It's been a few months since I've been there, but Corned Beef & Co. used to offer one of the best weekday lunch deals in town. You could order the Pico Grilled Chicken Salad with a drink for $8.00. This southwestern style salad had chicken, peppers, onions, mushrooms, salsa, cheese, and more and it's huge - similar to a "half" salad from The Cheesecake Factory. I don't know if this special is still running, but I would highly recommend it to anyone. I'd also highly recommend the What-cha-ma-call-it sandwich, which is "hot pastrami, coleslaw, melted Swiss, Russian dressing, and mustard on grilled rye." In my opinion, this is one of the best sandwiches in town.

Many people seem to have a lot of negative feelings towards Corned Beef & Co. Ironically, this tends to be more about poor decisions people make during drunken nights at Corned Beef than about the restaurant itself. I can't speak for the experience on the dance floor and Friday nights or the bar at 2am, but I have always been impressed with the food. And judging by their endless array of dining rooms, I think a lot of people agree with me.

CLEAN YOUR BATHROOMS!!!  They smell like swill and piss.  What is this place a bar, a club and pool hall, a live music venue, a restaurant?  Whatever it is they are trying to be all things to all people and they are doing nothing remarkable.  I guess "do what you do best" was missed by these folks.

The food was OK, nothing you cannot get anywhere else in America, the band was load and pretty much a metal/rock band.    The Upstairs was a dark room, with dance music.  No club lights not much for sitting space, just a bunch of people bumpin and grinding.  It was actually kind of pathetic in a funny way.  The pool room had shuffle board and plenty of tables.  The roof top bar looked like it might have some potential; if people actually used it.  We were there on two different Saturday nights and my experience was roughly the same.  Go drunk and you might have a good time, go sober and well you'll see what I mean.

I love this place.  For a meal with my super picky son, he likes the chicken al fredo, cheeseburger, and the pepperoni pizza. I like the boneless Buffalo wings app and the BBQ chk pizza. For a summer night with the guys, nothing beats drinking at the rooftop bar. Ans the wait staff are HOT.

This place is just over the top ...

After a mediocre meal at a local Mexican restaurant my wife and I decided to drive into downtown Roanoke to see if we could find a place for a drink. Go no further, this is the place to be!

Located in the market area of Roanoke, which has numerous restaurants, bars and dance club, Corned Beef & Co was just a lucky find for us. Granted, the crowd definitely leans toward the 30s, we had a great seat at a high top in the bar and a very attentive waiter. The place was packed - it was Friday night and the Roanoke area was still suffering from power outages.

We didn't eat but will definitely stop in the next time we are in town for a meal.

I call it Chipped Beef. Loud meat market scene. Inexpensive drinks, flirty crowd. It is A-Ok if you want a pick-up joint experience for a younger crowd--20s. Not good otherwise.

Cheap drinks and a fun atmosphere make this place a gem for people on a budget. On the other hand, the food and service are so sub-par that going to a McDonald's would be considered a step up. Its sad, but I gave this place a second chance in terms of food and service and it failed even more miserably than the first time. Such a shame...

This was a place we went to on a business trip to VA.  Cool place, it was a Thursday and it might have been a close second to 202 Restaurant down the road (they had karaoke going on.)  We were only there for drinks, but it wasn't crowded and I noticed how BIG this place was.  I mean, there was a large pool hall, a large room for the dance club scene, a fairly sized dining area upstairs, a bar area, AND a rooftop lounge (that's where we hung out).  It was nice because there was a guy playing live music.  Can't comment on the food, since we just ate at The Homeplace prior to venturing downtown Roanoke.  I'd like to check this place out on the weekends - it looks like I wouldn't get bored here.

I ordered the combo: ham, corned beef, and pastrami, with slaw on top and a side of steamed broccoli.  The sandwich was served quickly by a lovely, efficient waitress.  The sub roll was delicious, very fresh, and the sandwich was tasty.

The interior is unique, a combination of bar, restaurant, and pool hall, but decorated very tastefully with several levels of elevated dining.  The exterior is eclectic--reminded me of a 1960's diner.  I'd like to try more of the menu, but I'm here on business and won't have enough time.

My boyfriend insisted we come here on a recent visit to Roanoke and after a wonderful experience @ the Pine Room Bar at the Hotel Roanoke, I must say this place was a bit of a let-down...to say the least.

First off, the place is HUGE, and based on this fact I thought it would have a pretty decent crowd. Unfortunately, on this particular night---this was not the case.

The place was nearly empty, and while the drinks were cheap, nothing about it really stood out. What did stand out, however---was the fact that they were still charging cover even though there was no band, no dj, and no people there.

Hopefully if we are to return I will have an experience on par with some of the other folks on this thread.

Corned Beef is a Roanoke staple. Consistently the place to go out at nights. For Yelps sake, I will only review my lunch experience. If you are rollin' solo and looking for a quick in-and-out lunch, then this is the place... as long as you sit at the bar. I was there at peak lunch time and there was only one other dude bellied up besides myself.

I got "The Traditional" sandwich, which is a pastrami/corned beef combo with two cheeses and dressing... pretty much a Reuben with a chip on it's shoulder. I love me a corned beef sandwich and they make a great one. I guess they better with a name like that. The only thing I would do different is lightly toast the bread, but as I said, it's a really good sandwich. Standard curly fries from the bag, no hand-cut fresh fries, but it's to be expected in a place like this.

The service was average, nothing to write home about. Run-of-the-mill daytime bartender conversation, I guess. Food and bill were out quick-like. I was in and out in under 35 minutes. If you spend a deal of time in Roanoke at all, I say you should give it a try just to say you've been there. As far as nightlife goes, it is a good time and they do it up right for St. Patty's Day.

When in doubt, go to the restaurant with the most people.  You usually can't go wrong with this methodology.  However, sometimes, you end up places that people tend to drink at rather than eat.  This looks like one of those places.  I'm judging this place on lunch and not the bar scene.

The place is basically a pretty standard bar and grill.  We came here for lunch as part of an interview.  I got the Warehouse Row sandwich which was basically roast beef, corned beef, ham, with cole slaw on a 7 inch sub roll.  It was decent sandwich.  It didn't blow me away.  It was pretty average which is surprising given the components.  The chips were decent.

The place was packed and the service was a little slow.  It took awhile to get our food and the bill, but drink refills came out pretty quickly.  Honestly, this place is a decent lunch option, but I think there's better in the area.  I might have been more upset if I was the one picking up the tab.

This gigantic bar is fun and has about half a dozen dance floors with different dj's. I don't know anything about the food, but there is no place like this in the New River Valley, so it is worth a visit if you're staying in Roanoke.

I can only speak to the food and restaurant side, but the pizza was very good.  A margherita pizza can be ruined by even slightly poor ingredients, and this pizza was very fresh.  Our only minor complaint was that the tomatoes were too thick and didn't cook as deeply as we prefer.  Now consider just how picky that complaint is...  On the flip side, these people understand that the cheese should be browned.  Finally!

Service for us was great.  We clearly were there before the Saturday crowd, but everything was prompt without being overbearing.  The artwork is fun, and the environment was relaxed at 8pm on a Saturday.

One word of caution, though:  Those stairs are very short and narrow.  They may serve to keep the bar patrons downstairs, so perhaps that's good?  I don't know; the band was only arriving as we were leaving.

Is there any service at this place?  Or does the fact that the server needs to climb so many flight in order to work prevent this?

We went to check out the brick oven pizza.  Hmm how can they deliver lukewarm pizza.  The server was surprised when I told her that it was cold.

Don't even bother asking for a drink menu.  Apparently their bar has every conceivable drink known to man.

But on the good side, they had live music.  After getting some drinks, it was nice to sit on the deck listening to music.

If you want to go hang out at a bar with wannabe thugs and rednecks, have a good time! If you want food late at night, you might be better off going to taco bell. The food was ok but the service sucked so much (we weren't drinking) that I'd never go back to this place. I hated the vibe!

Want to play Pool? You got it.
Want to dance with a bunch of wannabe thugs on the dancefloor? You got it.
Want to dance to cheesy 80's music or listen to a live band? You got it.
Want to just chill and watch Sportscenter while drinking your favorite brew? You got it.
Want to sit out on the deck and just take the summer night in? You got it.

This has honestly got to be the largest establishment ever. The entrance bar area is nice for hanging out and watching TV away from all the dancing and rowdiness. If you walk to your left you will enter room numero dos, which has another bar, a smaller dance floor to the left where live music is frequently played and bar tables and booths to the right. If you continue to the next room, you'll stumble into the grand pool room, which has a good number of pool tables, a shuffleboard table, and.....another bar! Walk to the back of the room for even MORE pool tables a blackjack table, bathrooms and stairs that lead upstairs to...ANOTHER BAR...a huge dance floor and people just getting there groove on. It can be a bit intimidating walking upstairs with your girlfriend and I highly suggest avoiding it.  While upstairs, you can walk to the deck, which is a great place to kick back and enjoy the great outdoors.

Corned Beef is huge. Its fun because you always run into people you know but can be a bit annoying because...well...you always run into people you know. The crowd can get a bit rough upstairs but it happens. Definitely not a date place for a night out but its good for dinner if you are with your significant other.

Tyler is one of the bartenders and he's the man. Tell him I sent you if you ever make it out there. He'll be sure to make you a Statutory Grape and end your night with a smile.

Corned Beef & Co is the only bar I have ever been to in my life that I have nearly had my ass kicked. Twice. Once due to the fact I came across as gay (I am), and once because I was trying to get this guy to stop grabbing my friends breasts. I can't even really express  my dislike for this place. The two times I have been there were years apart and since both were very bad I have not and would not return.

I've always enjoyed Corned Beef's food and I think Jeff did a good job hipping you to their cuisine. However, I have to make mention of the nightlife. If you're heading out to cruise for dudes or chicks, then this is the place to go. However, if you're going out WITH your dude or chick, and don't want to feel like you're at a meat market, then find somewhere else.

A downtown stalwart, and one of Roanoke's better known late night venues, this place has it all:  classic bar, pool hall, dance venue, great menu, outdoor dining....what else could you ask for?

Great pizza, some of the best wings you'll ever put in your mouth, huge salads, a great ribeye steak with blue cheese, a good wine list, and they make a great black & tan.

"The Champ" is my favorite lunch entree - for $6.99 you get 2 ground beef patties covered in cheese and sauteed mushrooms with a generous side of broccoli - the perfect low carb alternative for us "South Beachers"...  If you're not doing low carb, they have a plethora of sandwich options for lunch - all of them loaded and very good.

For dinner it's all good - a great ribeye with melted blue cheese, fresh seafood choices, and good wine make this a venue that will satisfy most palates.

More than a safe bet, the food here is great.  Check 'em out!
