Coupe Deville's

Coupes has never been known for their food or as a cool bar. It was popular because because anyone and everyone could get in; even high school students. It is a really small bar, the bartenders are mostly college students and don't know how to make most of the drinks. Sometimes, they have live bands, but they are young bands that are a pain to listen to. I think it is a great trick they play, the drunker you are the less you care about the awful band.

2nd? 3rd? 4th stop on a hot summer afternoon speedy tour of UVA's surroundings? We popped in for a cooler, and were the only couple there. Service was friendly. The young UVA grad/bartender/manager was still learning the ropes, but gave a solid pour of whiskey.

I'm not sure exactly why, but there is just somehting about Coupe's that makes it my favorite bar in Cville. It seems more laidback than its counterparts and I like the outdoor section.
