So.. I've been a fan of Cozy for years now. I was especially impressed with the Korean style chicken and Ddeok Bokk-ee which is the rice cake dish.
It's been a while since I last visited, since I moved to Ohio...
I thought, why not- Let's go and get some Chicken and Ddeok Bokk-ee!
I was quite surprised on seeing a changed interior and a whole new menu.
There were a few new items, but all in all, the menu became very concise. I'm sure a lot of people will miss the items that didn't make the cut.
On to food..
Chicken actually improved over the last version, which..I didn't even think was possible.
It's crispy, juicy and just awesome. So.. Yeah! Get the chicken!
The Ddeok bokk ee... Well... They changed their recipe for sure. The dish used to be just like how it's made in Korea, which was the biggest plus of getting Cozy's ddeok bokk-ee. The new version has a higher rice content rice cake (the old one I assume had more flour in it, thus making it a bit more chewy which I loved) and the rice cakes are fried. The amount of sauce decreased considerably, so you can't really put the sauce on to any of the other fried items. They don't have the gim-mall-ee anymore, and I didn't see any other additional things you can put in the dish itself.
It was a good dish..but... I miss the old version. A lot.
I will be going to Cozy again to try some of the new hot pot dishes and to get my chicken fix, but I'm not sure if their Ddeok bokk-ee will be my go-to menu anymore.
+ no more popcorn either. The place got a bit more classier than before.
Cozy is the type of place where everyone will know your name, IF you come often enough.
It's got great atmosphere for a couple, a family or a large group of friends.
The food is unbelievable, especially the fried chicken. They have all the right side dishes with that homestyle taste that leaves you warm inside.
The beer on draught when I visited was Bottum Up Wit from Revolution, and went amazingly well with the food. I usually dismiss the beers served at Korean bars, but they actually have a great collection here.
After midnight, it can get loud and rowdy with the karaoke in the back, and party in the front, but that's appropriate for time and crowd.
A little birdie tipped me off that the future menu is coming and will be more creative, so for the regulars that love Cozy already, definitely return often, and for anyone else who hasn't tried it, head on over!
Incredible!  I went to this place with  group of friends for my Birthday dinner and was very, very impressed.  The atmosphere, food and staff were great.  Most Korean places are very traditional but I like the sports bar vibe of Cozy.  Tons of beer and drink specials, HDTV's and a nice bar area.  A perfect place for that after work beer.  However, if you are looking for a quiet meal, different than the standard Korean food, you have come to the right place.  The fried chicken was to die for.  I had two different variations and let me say, if you love Fried Chicken do yourself a favor and stop in.  The first kind I tried was a simple salt and pepper battered version and was delicious.  The Korean sauced version absolutely killed.  I live in the city and this place is definitely worth the drive.  For those unfamiliar with Korean culture, make sure to ask your server about SOJU.  It is the perfect alcoholic companion to get you through the night.  Do yourself a favor and try it now!
Review Source:The store is under new management and they are/has improved the restaurant tremendously.
Just like the name, the restaurant as a very laid-back and relaxing atmosphere, and not to mention amazing traditional Korean food.
Fantastic customer service as well - Â I am sure more great reviews will be pouring in because of the positive direction the new management is directing the restaurant towards.
Highly recommend checking it out if you have never visited, or even if you have in the past, since its under a new staff!
UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!!!
1000000x BETTER THAN BEFORE!
AMAZING food, cleaner, smells better, some changes to interior, new bar area with HD flatscreen TV, and a new kind Korean staff with new owners/managers!
The previous owners sold this restaurant, and I decided to check it out with some friends and family. I found out one of the new owners/managers, a cute small middle aged woman (last name Hong?) makes the KIMCHI HERSELF! and ALL of the side dishes and soups from scratch!!!! This amazed me! I never dared to order food from Cozy before because they had such bad reviews, but the food is now amazing, fresh, fast, and delicious.
Order the Dukboki and you can't go wrong. (I posted a picture) You get a bunch of little side dishes with the meal that are amazing. The woman owner comes table to table sometimes and asks if everything is ok. She is so hospitable and cute!
I've been here 3x already this month, and I plan on going back for more! I can't speak Korean that well, but my sister (who is fluent) loves this place and loves the food as much as I do.
My favorite item is the Dak Dolee Ttang. (Spicy chicken leg soup). It is absolutely AMAZING. Tastes just like how my mom makes it back home. It can feed 4 people easily and it comes in a huge pot on a mini stove right at your table to share.
I came here with my family once on a Thursday night, and it did get a little loud because of some patrons getting rowdy, but it was not a problem.
Order some Soju and eat some Dukboki while relaxing with your friends! And if you guys feel like singing, they have 2 norrebang (karaoke) rooms in the back. One huge room for parties of 8 or more people, and a smaller cozier room for a small group.
Service is great, food is great! Good job, new Cozy! You all need to try this place :)
Open til 2 am too!
As soon as I walked in, the place reeked of a hamster cage that hadn't been cleaned out in months. Â There is definitely a distinct smell that hits you as soon as you walk into the dimly lit restaurant/bar, but you eventually get used to it.
Like any other Korean bar/restaurant, the alcohol is slightly overpriced, but they do give complimentary cucumbers and carrots with a spicy Korean dipping sauce. Â Once you order something, they give you a bowlful of popcorn. Â Being slightly sickened even by the sight of alcohol from the previous weekend, I sat and munched on the snacks as friends drank and talked.
There's K-pop blaring over the speakers and this is definitely not a great place if you're looking to sit down and really talk with someone, but an okay place if you're just wanting to chill and drink. Â There was only one server/bartender when my friends and I went and he never checked up on us.
I don't think I'll be going back any time soon.
Man is this place a dumpy bar or what. I can't stand coming here, it's literally like a dark wood-panelled cave with Christmas lights up all year round and K-pop blasting in the background.
This place's saving grace is definitely the food. Most everything we've had here, from the dukbokki and the Korean fried chicken are delicious!! They have a pretty extensive menu, which is mostly in Korean so it's a bit hard to navigate. We've also taken out from here too, they have pretty good fried dumplings and fish cake noodle soups.
We come here every once in a while and though I hate the environment, the cheap soju, the food and the fact that I can walk home wasted if I wanted to will keep me coming back.
So I get here for New years with a few amigos from high school. Â I'm a vegetarian, so my options are limited. Â HOwever, I did eat Kimchi. Â That was really really tasty. Â My peers removed the squid from it.....I didn't feel like eating that either. Â However, peer pressure forced me to eat it. Â I also learned how to use chop sticks. Â I'm a slow learner......but finally I got the hang of it. Â Also, I ate French Fries at a Korean Restaurant......lol. Â The ppl I was with also got crunked as hell. Â And these dudes were driving...crazy. Â I really didn't feel like drinking either (since I was driving)....but once again, I drank a lil bit bc of peer pressure. Â Would I go here? Â Maybe. Â I really liked the Kimchi....I'd just request it without the squid.
Review Source:A dimly lit room with kpop playing in the background and several tv's all tuned into korean tv makes you feel like you're in Korea as soon as you step in.
Order ddeokbokki (soft rice sticks with fish cakes, scallions and onions in a red fiery sauce), pa jun (seafood with scallions in an egg pancake), bulgogi ddeokbokki (bulgogi with soft rice sticks and onions in a sweet soy sauce) will start you off the right foot. Â I crave the fried chicken here more than I crave any other fried chicken, eat it plain or dip it in the seasoned salt. Â Don't forget about the moo (pickled radish) and the salad that comes with the chicken....fool proof sides. Â Fruit with fried chicken simply mean they bring you fresh fruits on the side (i had imagined a weird chicken fruit salad) , a nice way to end your meal. Â Â
Soju and Hite are musts. Â Kiwi, watermelon and yogurt soju are our favs. Â The strawberry and cherry tastes a lil medicinal at times, depending on who makes it. Â
The language barrier is a bit intimidating and frustrating at first but, just know they are trying their hardest to understand. Â Hand gestures and pointing are two ways that work pretty well.
Been a Cozy regular for years...and this place just has cheap Korean anju that ain't so bad....
That being said, don't forget to order from the special sets in the back of the menu...because it will save you big bucks in the end. Â
Tteokbokki with boiled eggs is yummy yum yum....with tons of stuffs you don't see at other places.
Oh!! and their fried chicken is delish~~~but not the seasoned one...the sauce for it is kind of blah~~~~~ Just order the chicken, enjoy with salt and pepper...and we are good to go :D
This is a Korean bar where you go to drink soju and hang out. I went here with a couple of friends and had some flavored soju. The girl told us that the pineapple flavor was the best so we ordered that. I didn't like it very much. It basically tasted like a melted popsicle. There was pieces of ice in there which I didn't like. I didn't order an icy. It was also overly sweet and didn't taste like it had any alcohol at all. I get red easily when I drink. One drink and I'm as a red as a tomato. I didn't get red that night.
One thing that I really like was the duk bo ki appetizer. It had all kinds of things in it and was super tasty and had a nice level of spiciness to it. The portion was also huge, but I finished about half of it.
The prices are high, but they give you a place to chill and free popcorn. haha
I'm going to review the bar aspect as I never go here to eat-just drink. I am not a big fan of the atmosphere at Cozy...it's all wooden...these days you are sometimes the only table in the whole bar...and it's just all blah to me. I don't mind going here with friends though to get our drink on as they love the place. I think they like having the whole place to themselves. Never had a problem with the flavored soju...regular soju and mixed soju prices are standard although their beer prices are apparently slightly less compared to other Korean bars.
The one thing I admittedly love about Cozy is the nohraebang (karaoke rooms) in the back. Nothing tops a night of drinking soju then belting out (or in my case dropping some sick lines from :P) your favorite song!
Cozy will definitely always be in my Korean bar rotation but I prefer the others in the area. :)
Let me set up this experience for you....
The Mood...daughters and I feeling very gastronomically adventurous....leaning towards Korean.
The Search...whipping out my Yelp App for "Korean-near current location"...the "Cozy Korean" is one of the choices...how can we refuse?
The Arrival...easy to find, plenty of available parking in their private lot. Only two other tables occupied in the whole place....we get a little nervous.
The Decor...think Long John Silvers turned wood-paneled neighborhood bar... "Dogs Playing Poker" picture and all. Korean music videos (with no sound) playing on the big screen located in the front of the restaurant
The Background Music...Benny Benassi-Akon-Eminem-50cent-Amerie...I do believe I heard multiple F-bombs...but at times it was in-the-booth-tush-wiggle-worthy.
The Service...now this deserves two of the stars on it's own.
The Food...pleasantly surprised - very good.
We asked our excellent server (in spite of the language barrier) what he suggested...the combo special was 37.00 and more than enough food for the table...it included a yummy Fish Cake soup, delicious Korean Fried Chicken, and an even better cold Kimchi Noodle dish.
We added the Seafood Pancake for $12....one of the best we ever had,
There were many fancy-fruity Soju drinks on the menu, but we did not partake.
All in all...after saying out loud "where ARE we?" on several occasions throughout the meal...we would return...but then again we are usually up "for an adventure."
Probably my favorite korean bar. Â Wooden tables, wooden walls... I just like this place better than other korean bars. Â They also have a karaoke in the back, of course.
They serve beer in mini plastic barrels with a spout that come along with frosty beer mugs. Â Of course they have your usual selection of soju, but they're foods not that bad either. Â I think their chicken is delicious. Â They got the whole fried chicken pieces served with slaw with thousand island dressing. Â The chicken is well seasoned, crispy while juicy. Â They also have the fried chicken with sweet/spicy sauce. Â Oh and forgot to mention they serve a platter of refillable snacks they serve with your drinks. Â Everything from ritz crackers and fritos, to korean bbq flavored cheetos. Â Great place and good times.
This used to be the spot. However, with competitors setting up shop in the near vicinity and the owner's focus in the new chicken shop at the Assi food court, some days you can hear the crickets chirp. The Cozy loyals still show up though. Bring back the awesome specials and bring service back up a notch! I want to see this place bumping again.
Review Source:They dont' have the free food deal when you hit $50 and $100. Â Instead they have this complex Puzzle Fighter combo system for drinks and food instead. Â Either way, it's still dirt cheap. Â The people that frequent the place still generally seem like assholes to me. Â Glaring looks from the recent from Korea clientele gets so annoying...it's like "what the hell did I ever do to you?" Â Anyways...cheap cheap cheap! Â Drink on!
Review Source:Reminds me of Korea... le sigh!
So let me get a few disclaimers out first. Â It's a Korean/Asian place therefore, you can not rate service. Â I think Koreans are especially known for just yelling out when we need something! HA! This place is in good ol MG... there is NOTHING in MG. Â I've lived here my whole life, my parents STILL live here and believe me, this is the last place you would look to for something fun to do.
But they have some crazy good specials and it's just a good place to chill... especially if you go w/ good company ;) Â And it's probably one of the very few places that open late in the burbs so you don't have to deal w/ driving back from the city hoping that you don't get a DUI.... oh wait... I mean, that's what I've HEARD! :)
Weak beers and some limited selections, but lots of different sojus and good eats to go along w/ them. Â There's also a small norae bang connected in the back... no idea if it's good or not, just saw a peak as I was going to the restroom.
